I just received my 18650 Boxer DNA133 with Sony VTC5s. I am SHOCKED at how small this thing is. It seems to be working great at the moment, granted I have only taken a few puffs from it to see that it works and set things up like pre-heat in Escribe and a profile or two.

But can I say WOW again at the size? Not too long ago I saw an ipv D2 at a local brick and mortar and was shocked at how small it was. Probably the smallest mod I have seen. I am twice as shocked at the size of this considering it is the same height, not really as wide as I thought and has dual 18650s. WOW. The "fatness" of it is not nearly what I thought it would be and it is just small and a really good looking mod.

I am also happy that I spent the 25 dollars for the alumylon. While I probably would have opted for a color, the texture and (hopefully) durability will be exactly what I was going for. I have attached a few preliminary pictures of it with my Opus. Other pictures I have seen of the Opus made it look big and I was real surprised when I saw how small it was in person. Same thing with the Boxer, but my surprise was even greater when I saw it.

I honestly think the weight is nice, having heard that it was soooo light I was concerned about the feel of it in terms of quality. I, for the thousandth time, was surprised here because it feels solid with the 18650s in there. It is going to take some getting used to. It almost looks like a toy (in a good way). It is unreal, that is the only way I can describe it and it if it performs like the Opus then it was worth every penny.

I'm going to post again my impressions and a "review" when the novelty wears off and I have used it for some time. I think I am really going to have a difficult time finding anything that is a con with this.

It's here! I just got it hooked up to Escribe and I'm working in the screens. First impressions:

It is very light. Not a bad thing, but surprising considering the LiPo inside.

Fits my hand well. I take an XL glove. The back is a little wide but manageable.

Amazing vape! I am coming from an SXK Flask (60w) and the power, consistency, and warm up time are all a huge step beyond what I have now. It powers instantly, no wait. I tried 200w
preheat and I am now at 50w!

It is very short. I have a Zero Clone as well and it is the same height, just twice as wide in the back tapering to the same width in the front.

I got black and I love the color and material. Feels slightly rough in the hands.

Going from the SXK firmware to DNA200 I dropped the temp by 40 degrees for the same vape.

I am going to play with it some more but my biggest worry was it would be too square. I chose the LiPo for this reason as I did not like the profile of the dual 18650 mod. Now if we could get the insert and sled to fit this form factor I would have the perfect mod. I will be testing out the battery life and will report back once I have some info. I vape at 440 degrees, 35 watts, dual titanium coils in a Goblin mini at .13ohms. Juice is 50/50 Nicoticket CLS and it tastes better than it ever has before. What a difference a non clone chip makes!

Just keep in mind that LiPo ''like'' to be discharge and charge again like 4-5 times. After that u should see some significant improovment in battery life.

I totally agree with cimon. Give it time. With my Opus, I was really disappointed with the battery life for the first few cycles watching it drop like 1% battery life each time I had a puff and just lasting barely more than half a day. After that, it has been perfect and I think you'll be really surprised at how good the 1000 mah battery is. The Opus lasts from 9 in the morning to 11 at night for me and I went through 18650s pretty fast with my IPV4 prior to the Opus. I am hoping I don't regret going 18650 because LiPos definitely have their advantages and I don't understand the negativity towards them, but then again this small form factor of the DNA133 is a selling point in itself.

I have been reading and I agree with you guys. Since I have a charger at work I do not think battery life will be much of an issue. I did have one problem though. When I went into Escribe I set chargin percentage as a field when usb is inserted and charging. It would not display. I set it on the regular screen and now it displays. I really only want it when I hook up the usb, anyone had that issue? I do know it is charging, I checked on Escribe.
Thanks,
Sean

Check the Charging Brightness on the Screen tab... by default it's set to 0%.

thats one of the reasons why i ordered the boxer 133 because it a little smaller, the other was because i can just swap out the batteries real quick if needed!!

@Bow2King,
I thought about that. I have a bunch of 25r Samsungs but I did not like the squareish form factor of the DNA133. LiPo for me! One thing I can say is I don't see me using 200 watts. I tried the 200 watt preheat when I first got it and man was that too much!

After using clones having the real deal really has spoiled me. I think the vaping budget is about to get put on hold for a while. At least I got what I wanted before the clamp down!

Realizing part of the reason I bought the DNA133 was to swap batteries, but what are everyone's thoughts on just charging the 18650s through the USB port overnight? I would charge my Opus's LiPo overnight and that was fine because the DNA balance charger tapers the charge to like .01A when it is fully charged. I just don't know anything about 18650s and in-device/USB charging. Also should I leave the battery cut off voltage in Escribe to 3.09 volts or up it to 3.19? I feel like my IPV4 would say low battery at like 3.4 volts?

Having used the Boxer for a few hours now, it is everything I hoped it would be. Real happy with it so far.

With the 18650s, it's better to use the charger so as to minimize wear and tear on the USB. One thing that's unknown about the DNA200 is just how long its USB port will last, especially if one is placing lateral stress on the port from "pass-through" vaping.

Otherwise, the built-in balance charger should be fine. It's max input is 1A, which means about 0.5A to each battery.

does anyone know what the pre heat is set to on the boxer 133??

I'd assume 133W by default, but then you can change that for the presets in escribe. Unfortunately, there is no way to change preheat settings via the mod. It's an unfortunate design choice that hopefully Evolv might fix with a firmware update someday.

True, but I'm assuming it's max power just like the 200W. Not a good default in my opinion. I had to go through hours of installing Windows on my Mac just so I could use escribe to lower the preheat and not get an initial nasty hit.

@Yozhik i started trying to install it on my MAC and then gave up for now LOL, think you might be able to give me a quick run down on how to do it?

Go to page 13 of this thread. There's a link that was posted there that gives instructions on setting up Windows via virtualbox and I gave a couple pointers as well.
