cheers guys!
i guess i was just worried the revised version was a bit bigger than the magnet version ,like the lipo case size
but looks like its only the battery lid is different
No, not like the LiPo case. I've got an Alumylon with the new style and its the same exact size as the magnet version. Door doesn't slide on, it just presses in. I wouldn't say one is better than the other, but the new style gives it a much more solid feeling when closed. You could really shake this unit up and no way the batteries will come out.
Also there is no top or bottom anymore. The side vent holes will line up no matter which way the door is put on.

Revised tab-and-groove, press-fit style door on the left. Original door on the right (without magnets installed).

Do you have any feelings on how durable the new door design will be when it's removed and put back on maybe twice a day over a period of time? That's part of the attractiveness of magnets and not having to stress the material pulling it back and sliding it over - again and again.

Mine is on order as of two days ago .. -Mags

So GV got back to me. The revised door supposedly provides a more secure closure as well as increased structural rigidity. Depending on color preference, requests for the magnet doors can be accomodated. I can only assume this is on a limited stock basis. As for me, I may opt for the tab-and-groove, press-fit style door.

@TheotherSteveS: Do you feel the press-fit door will be able to handle daily openings and closures without fail for the next two years? Where on the door or the chassis do you feel that wear potential exists and have you noticed anything of the sort in the short time you have owned the 133W?

Too early to tell I would say. The tabs that fit in the grooves on the main body might wear but I think it will take a long time to see any effect. Im pretty happy with the non-mag version. The door is on, and it will stay on until its takne off. I doubt it would move even if i dropped it - no Im not going to try lol!

I am rounding up to 800 door removals and replacements per year multipled by two years of expected use. So 1600 approximate stress-strain cycles. The chassis and battery door are of the same material, thus material wear should be even across both parts. GV indicated that the revised door has been prototyping for approximately two months without issue. Essentially, not enough time has passed (accumulative effects of strain) to confirm, or deny the superiority of either door. All we can do is examine the design of the revision and attempt to extrapolate the expected performance of the build material against the expected forces applied under expected use conditions. I plan to carefully flex the battery door out of its grooves from the vent cutouts in an attempt to reduce friction wear while being cautious not to exhaust its ductility (resulting in material deformation). I feel that the stiffer properties of Alumylon will exhibit superior rebound from the directional forces applied versus the standard nylon offering assuming the same time under tension. The revised unit as a whole appears to printed with more material to accomodate the revised battery door. Additional material typically signifies greater mass to counter applied forces. Anecdotal evidence from dannyben, TheotherSteveS and GV seems to support this as well. As such, I have decided to move forwards with the revised door.

My boxer 133 finally came today and all i can say is WOW i thought it was going to be bigger!! and mine does have the magnets on the door guys!!

so worth the wait! hope you're enjoying it as much as i am  got mine last week and WOW is right on! LOVING it so far..even just in regular mode. have to learn the whole TC thing but have some Ti wire sitting here waiting for me...have quite a bit of kanthal and afraid when i make the switch i'll be spoiled and won't want to use the kanthal anymore.

mine is black(133) and also has the magnets. gotta say i'm completely thrilled with spending the $$ for this and not buying a bunch of other less expensive devices in search of 'the one!' size shape and weight are perfect for me. fire button is awesome..takes very slight press with solid satisfying quiet click...up/down button is very stiff but imagine it will relax a little with more use. customizing the screen is very cool! and really look forward to the more advanced functions...

Personally I love the new door style. I have a Boxer Sx350j and the "magnets" if that's what you want to call them barely hold the back on. If your case is a snug case, most of the black ones, then you don't even feel the magnets grab because they are so week. I build alot of boxes and am used to magnets that can hold a metal door on with no problem. So if I can flick the back door off with a quick flip of the wrist I'm not happy with it. The new door style solves that problem.

The new magnets are EXTREMELY strong. I can basically pick up my 133 by the door with batteries a full (of e liquid) TFV4 (full size too) on top by the door without it coming off, granted I need to do it slowly because that is a good bit of weight. Not trying to make this a magnet vs no magnet debate because everyone has their preference, just saying that it appears they instituted new magnets.

Hi guys! If you were asked today, which one would you choose: DNA 133 or sx350?

Dual 18650 is a must, so choosing between these two. I think max wattage I will really need is 100-110, so both fit...

I just do not know pros n cons of these chips.

Thx a lot in advance!

Ps and also I am to choose alumylon finish! Pros n cons?

I can't compare the SX350J and DNA200 because I have two DNA200s and no SX350J. I mention that because I obviously love the DNA200. That said, I see you posted the same question in the SX350J Boxer thread. Just be prepared for war between the DNA and SX350 "fan boys" - a debate than has been repeated a hundred times on these forums so my advice is ignore everything negative you are going to hear and just listen to the positives from the people that actually own the chip they are talking about.

As far as the alumylon, the only con I can think of is it is a bit stiffer than the regular material, therefore it is a bit more brittle (e.g., might not survive a drop as well without cracking). On the bright side, it is the natural finish of the 3D print and can be cleaned easily, will not fade, and has amazing aluminum flake throughout.

I'd say the biggest issue between the chips comes down to whether you like escribe or not. Without escribe, the DNA200 is pretty limited in functionality. With escribe, the DNA200 offers some things the sx350j cannot do.

I had 2 SX350j mods (SXMini M and Boxer) and sold both of them. I have 3 DNA200 mods and 2 boards now.

DNA200 is way more accurate than a SX350j. I don't really change my builds and I have 7 KFv4's that I use on most of my mods. With the same settings of 440°F, .10Ω 20w (18-20j), I consistently had burnt, not just singed, wicks from the SX mods. I had to go down to 380°F on the SX and it would still singe the wicks. Never had that issue on my DNA40 or DNA200. Some DNA200 mods come pre-configured so you don't need Escribe at all (VS DNA200) while others (Hana v200) is a blank board with Evolv's default settings and will most-likely need to be tweaked.

Even on the unconfigured mods, the 200 watt preheat can be removed from all the profiles in about two minutes after installing Escribe. That's all you really need to do and the rest can be controlled from the device. When I got my Boxer DNA133 and was excited to get it running, it took me longer to get it unpackaged and put batteries in it than to get the Escribe profiles set up properly. I really don't understand why it is such an impediment to people, really doesn't need to be any more complicated than you want it to be. On the other hand, I suppose it can be a pain if you don't have a computer or don't have a computer with Windows, but hey, that's your fault for overpaying for the hype of Mac (jk, jk).

That said, Evolv should look into an android app using a OTG cable to connect.

Dollars to donuts Evolv releases a DNA200 BlueTooth ..

Speaking of Mac users, the biggest mistake is not investing in VMware .. all the other mangling can be avoided if bloody Parallels and Virtualbox are set aside for the big boy pants. ;-)
