Would "information society services" be the internet?

Wanted to verify this for myself. Yep, it does indeed mean they want to ban free speech about ecigs on the internet! Good luck enforcing that, EU!

Directive 98/34/EC is amended as follows:

1. the title shall be replaced by the following:

'Directive of the European Parliament and of the Council laying down a procedure for the provision of information in the field of technical standards and regulations and of rules on Information Society services`;

2. Article 1 is amended as follows:

(a) the following new point shall be inserted:

'2. "service", any Information Society service, that is to say, any service normally provided for remuneration, at a distance, by electronic means and at the individual request of a recipient of services.

For the purposes of this definition:

- "at a distance" means that the service is provided without the parties being simultaneously present,

- "by electronic means" means that the service is sent initially and received at its destination by means of electronic equipment for the processing (including digital compression) and storage of data, and entirely transmitted, conveyed and received by wire, by radio, by optical means or by other electromagnetic means,

- "at the individual request of a recipient of services" means that the service is provided through the transmission of data on individual request.

An indicative list of services not covered by this definition is set out in Annex V.

This Directive shall not apply to:

- radio broadcasting services,

- television broadcasting services covered by point (a) of Article 1 of Directive 89/552/EEC (*).

From what you are saying, this is fricking insane. The Gestapo lives? Inserting that though may be a brilliant move though, for us. Exactly how many computer geeks, or just regular folks, want to be told what they can and cannot say on the internet? This may bring a whole new army onto our side. What blows my mind is how far they are willing to go to keep people smoking. These people are truly evil.

This is the 2nd 'leaked' document from this 'closed door Trilogue'

If a document is 'leaked' (any document) how is it verifiable that it is indeed the 'bona fide' original article ?!?!

ECF won't change despite corruptly-obtained laws anywhere in the world, including in our home areas of N America and Europe. We have some legal presence in the US and UK and if necessary those aspects will be adjusted as required in light of any issues.

Our job is to support vapers and promote vaping. Even if they made vaping illegal in every possible aspect we would find a way around that....

f) electronic cigarettes with refillable cartridges or tanks are not placed on the market; and only non re-fillable cartridges are placed on the market.
g) electronic cigarettes are childproof; that only electronic cigarettes are placed on the market that cannot be operated or opened by children.

Kinda kills them all, doesn't it?
