Finally got my first one completed...well, I have yet to glue down the charge board. But it lives and breaths...and vapes. Sanjosse, i got a few of your older cradles and yes I had to trim off the end tab, but this works great with a DNA40. I wouldn't mind trying out the new cradle for the next one, I'm just not sure when it may be. One of the enclosures that I got from FT was damaged, so I had to return it. Apparrently, they have shipped the new one already. I had thought about putting a DNA30 in that one, but after experiencing the DNA40 I need to rethink that. So, what to do with a spare DNA30?

bamani71, I don't know, if I had the bay's dimensions I could tell you for sure.

If anyone has one, could you please provide them.

OK ...so I've been reading this thread like a book and I wanna say first... Im very impressed with all the modders here ... Im a complete noob at this but my plan is to use the fasttech dna20 hana enclosure and stuff a dna40 and an 18650 in it. Perhaps using the 22mm FD 510 v4 ... I know polarbare had a great response already concerning the mini ... but I was wondering if the bay dimensions are indeed the same with the coupler he has and the fasttech ... and the FT dna20 bay as wide as the dna30 bay

Im extremely interested in Sanjosse's cradles (they look awesome!) and I would be happy to knock of the rails on the dna40 if I can make use of those cradles...

If Im beating a dead horse on this issue I apologize... but is there any confirmation on the issue?

and is my whole plan ridiculous ... am I trying to stuff in too much with any of these components? all suggestions are welcome even if you have to point out how dumb Im being!

From what I've read, the Fasttech dna20 enclosure is to small to fit an 18650. The assembled dna20 has a slightly taller box and can supposedly fit an 18650 with some minor milling.

thanks kenD...

Ive been having a hard time figuring that one out and I fear youre right... the height of the enclosure is 68.5 mm and the battery alone is about 65mm...so I would definitely have to dremel out some of the enclosure IF it can be done at all... the larger 88mm seems like such a waste of space.. one of the commenters on the enclosure $16.53 DIY Enclosure Case for HANA MODZ Pack DNA 20 Style Mod - aluminum / black at FastTech - Worldwide Free Shipping named Brighton says he managed to get a 18650 in there .... if I cant do it I cant do it... but Im willing to roll the dice on that... but as for the circuitry bay... Im really curious about the dna40 and FD 510 v4 fitting and I would really like to stuff in those cradles but I am very skeptical about that panning out... and again any info on the interior bay dimensions would be greatly appreciated

thanks steamer
so...the 18490 is always a nice back up but ... and I do have some 18500s lying around ...but thats because they dont have nearly the performance I need ... lol ... Ive seen a few mods on hana minis converted to 18650 and according to hana modz site the exterior dimension for height is 2.65" which comes out to 67.31mm and the FT enclosure is 68.5mm so... Im going to give it a go and see what happens I think... but my real concern is the FD 510 v4 and the dna40 ... I will know more when it gets here but Im now wondering if I can get it in with and cradle at something of a diagonal if I cut away part of the center divider ....I really wish I could find the interior specs... on top of that I wonder how that stupid seam running through the 510 well area will effect my removing the back panel when everything is in place ..also im curious if anyone has good suggestions on alternate buttons ...or will I be please with the FT kit buttons

Im thinking I am expecting too much out of the enclosure and my skills O_O

Sanjosse, had you thought about putting your DNA40 cradle and/or charger cradle on sculpteo?

moresalt, not really. But I guess it wouldn't hurt to. But there is one caveat to offering it. It's the fact that I haven't tested it yet to make sure it works perfectly. On the 15th, when funds become available, I've planned to purchase one from shapeways.com to test. Once I do, and it passes, I'll also upload the file to sculpteo.com for sale as well.

    Please stay tuned :)

    Thanks sanjosse! ..
I'll keep you posted ...unfortunity the more I think about it...more my goals seem a bit greedy... The battery compartment is probably to small even with milling for the 18650 (I know... Everyone warned me) ...and I haven't seen a mini yet the didn't have the chip at an angle in the compartment ...which doesn't leave room for a cradle I think ... I'm thinking I'm going to order a regular Hana case too... cause less then 18650 is unacceptable IMO... If one of the cases sits around waiting for another project, so be it ... So hopefully the dna40 cradle up on shapeways now comes outa beta soon!

thanks visus... this is one of a couple posts that originally motivated me ... but unfortunately its not the dna 20 enclosure from FT... I think that one is actually a authentic mini... which is misleading since its in the fasttech forum >_<
... or its a ready build clone ... but definitely not the FT dna20 enclosure which I ordered against wiser advice ... I suppose I could get something like the FT dna50 mini and strip it ... I just dunno If I can justify spending extra to scrap a perfectly good chip to swap in a dna40 ... dont fix it if it aint broke, right? ...but thanks ... you definitely nailed what Im shooting for.
