There's no room for the connector on the battery side so you have to stuff it in the electronics side.

You can make a dummy battery with leads to put in a charger to charge your batteries. I'm going to solder my battery and just use the internal charger. I have enough mods that if it needs to be charged, I'll take another one.

Death to hot glue! I think its high time we used something else ;) Using cradles is the answer I reckon there are some very nice ones now.

I don't mean to have a go at in anyone particular or the Chinese but Its been less than a year box modding and I have seen so much glue you really start to hate it, its like a mess you know is there but hidden works sort of is quick but its crappy solution.

I paid $250 (UK) for this DNA mod no more glue!

The battery connector seems a good idea no idea on the room inside your mini you could just use a wired up dedicated evolv charge board box with a connector to charge your batteries.

Hey Tony maybe you could find someone to rework the case like this?

It's great debating stuff in group isn't it? :)

For most people. Some seem to lose sight of the diversity of opinion and preference that exists in the world. In real life a person that disagrees with me is someone who may know something I don't or have had an experience I haven't had. Forums should work the same, but it is odd that the lack of syntax to the conversation makes it harder to have that "around the table" approach.

That was made on a professional mill. Notice he removed 0.5mm off the side wall so that he could fit that copper plate. I used to have a cnc but the lack of precision made me snap one day and I threw it out of the fourth floor. I felt much better lol.

It's pictures like that that make me hate anything I do although I used to be very good at building and rebuilding rc sail planes... I used to have great ideas and people were marveled by the solutions I came up with and now I struggle with a simple mod build. I'm pathetic :(

I was being ironic with the hot glue. Yes it looks messy but I believe one cannot judge a proper build by looks only. :)

Tony

Agreed. It's kinda "you think like I do or you're wrong" mentality that ruins everything.

Disagreeing is part of human nature. :)

Nice job. When I started building my own mods one of the first things I ordered was a sheet of copper a little less than 1/32 thick. Works great for contacts. I also use it when soldering my batteries together for a dual 18650 battery setup. Also used it as conductors up the side of the battery to the DNA 40 board. I'll post some pictures later to show you all what I'm talking about.

Sent with no malice and not a whole lot of forethought from my new Galaxy Tab 4. Thanks Santa!

Fair enough Tony I am somewhat like you, more frustration than anything! ;) Glad I wasn't walking in the street when you snapped with a CNC;). Some modding looks so simple but in reality metal work was never something I did so some of the results have been poor.

I worked in electronics for a few years but hardware and powder coating I never did.

You are right there about how a box looks on the outside maybe its in my character wanting what's inside to be as good but most of the time its not practical.

I actually asked the mini modder above if he would do a box for me he told me he did it in his lunch time when the workshop allowed him to use the equipment;)

The UK has very little manufacturing now so finding someone with a good enough CNC equipment is tough if not impossible and can cost somewhat.

He's the mod in the previous post I replaced the switch and 510 it does look pretty good for a hammond1590 case.

Guys can I ask a noob question? Do you solder the buttons before gluing them to the case or you solder inside the case?

I find that soldering them before you put them in the case is a lot easier than after. Just gives you a lot more maneuvering room.

It was the only time I really lost it lol. I was still a bachelor, all the time in the world and 6 weeks spent on something that couldn't mill faster than 0.3mm per second and keep tolerances under 0.5mm... That thing deserved what it got. Thinking I spent 800 bucks on it just was another thing that fueled the anger [emoji14]

I'm a perfectionist by nature and when I see I can't achieve it, I just start moaning about the whole thing :/

Like a lot of people all ready stated. I mock the chip up in place cut all my wires to length, remove the chip solder all the wires to the chip outside of the enclosure.
then install my chip and solder the battery, charger 510 and tactile switches in the box. This is what works for me but any way that gets it done for you is Great:)

Guys can I ask a noob question? Do you solder the buttons before gluing them to the case or you solder inside the case?
