thanks visus... this is one of a couple posts that originally motivated me ... but unfortunately its not the dna 20 enclosure from FT... I think that one is actually a authentic mini... which is misleading since its in the fasttech forum >_<
... or its a ready build clone ... but definitely not the FT dna20 enclosure which I ordered against wiser advice ... I suppose I could get something like the FT dna50 mini and strip it ... I just dunno If I can justify spending extra to scrap a perfectly good chip to swap in a dna40 ... dont fix it if it aint broke, right? ...but thanks ... you definitely nailed what Im shooting for.

I ordered a FC hana clone and will use it until it breaks or I get tired of it and then upgrade it to a real Evolv DNA board. I've been going back and forth with the full size vs mini and with all the uncertainty of the mini's size, I just went with the full size.

I feel ya ktm ... as for there FT minis Im confident they can be upgraded to 18650 with a lil imagination ... heres the specs for the 50w mini
$55.98 H-ANA MODZ Pack DNA 50 Mini Style Mod - 7W-50W / built-in 1200mAh Li-Po battery / black at FastTech - Worldwide Free Shipping
Depth 25.6 mm
Height 72 mm
Width 43 mm
heres the dna20 enclosure I got coming in the mail... $16.53 DIY Enclosure Case for HANA MODZ Pack DNA 20 Style Mod - aluminum / black at FastTech - Worldwide Free Shipping
Depth 25.2 mm
Height 68.5 mm
Width 43 mm (Battery compartment size: 61mm*18mm*17.9mm (length*width*depth))
the regular FT hana enclosures and ready mades are 88mm and more... the only problem is one of those purdy cradles wont fit in any "mini"
although using the pre-built till it dies is a "reasonable" plan ... my dna40 will arrive soon and I wont be able to shelve it and forget it ... that would take unreasonable self control!

sanjosse I tested fitting of the cradle in the tube. I think it is a success :D. I like it!! This is a DNA 30. Not sure how I will wire this thing, but at least now i can start thinking :D:D.

Aal_, SWEET!!!, thanks for posting the pics. I can't wait to see your final mod.

BTW, did you have to tweak the cradle to get it to fit? If so, could you PM me what you altered so I can update the file and open it up for sale to everyone, thanks! :)

I did nothing. No tweaks at all. Actually it was a tight fit. but with an easy push with hand it went in. Which is better because I'm sure once in it will not budge So no needed sanding at all.

I did not test the wires though so I'm not sure how much clearance I will have but I'm confident it will be ok.

Aal_, Thank you for your feedback, if you ever need anything else 3Ded let me know :)

BTW, I posted up a DNA40 version as well ;)

Got it built up, and even though i'm no stanger to intricate work, it was kinda a pain in the a@$ packing all that stuff in there...lol

Makes me have a bit of sympathy for the people having to mass produce the cana clones all day.

@sanjosse The chip cradle worked great (removed nub obv) and was a lifesaver, by the time i got done with the charger cradle it was in rough shape...lol, but worked!

Thanks again!

p.s. Legit c&k tact buttons are MILES above the cheapies that come with the enclosure.

That looks exactly like the one that I built....nice job. I use the cradle also and you're right it helps immensely. The other thing I like about it is there is no glue so it can be replaced easily. Big thanks to sanjosse for this.

xtwosm0kesx and moresalt, Thank You both for letting me help you. :) Me too, I have a red one and a blue one to build. There is just not enough time in the day for what I want to accomplish

Thats gonna be sweet. I guess your gonna use the onboard buttons? Be like a dna30 kick? Seems like you could use a telescopic mod, solder the ground to the outer case and use the stock button, meaning the mech button, that may be to complicated but. You got me thinking now :)

Please post pictures of how you do the wiring, the atty and battery connections. I've been considering making a DNA tube mod (using some of my Stingray clones) and I need all the help I can get.

moresalt, not really. But I guess it wouldn't hurt to. But there is one caveat to offering it. It's the fact that I haven't tested it yet to make sure it works perfectly. On the 15th, when funds become available, I've planned to purchase one from shapeways.com to test. Once I do, and it passes, I'll also upload the file to sculpteo.com for sale as well.

Please stay tuned :)

moresalt, Well, I couldn't wait any longer, so I've uploaded the file the to sculpteo.com. I'll still order one from SW later today and test-fit it. So if you'd like to order one from sculpteo.com and test it too, I'd gratefully appreciate any and all feedback you'd be able to provide :)

I think they are stainless steel (not magnetic) not aluminium (way too soft). Diameter is 1.9mm so I guess it's a metric M2 screw?

I've been trying to replace them with magnets but so far my epoxy skills leave something to be desired lol. I think the mixture has to be quite exact.
