So has anyone come up with a brand/type of epoxy and hot glue they recommend is best for use on the C/K buttons and mounting the PCB using shapways sleds?

I am at the point with my build where I am almost ready to mount the items in my FT hana clone enclosure and I was hoping to get an idea of what others were using for this part.

Sugru! :)

Hey fellow FT enclosure modders,

I finally received the prototypes from SW of my DNAx Adjustable Combo Cradle. I'll be making a couple minor tweaks before releasing it to the public for purchase. I'm shooting to have the updated file uploaded by tomorrow morning.

Sugru is great stuff, I use it to insulated the tops of my batteries when I make mods with permanent batteries (I like dual 18650 batteries, they last forever, the way I vape I can get two days out of them) . But, I digress, Sugru is not stiff. More like stiff rubber so if you want to fasten something solidly in my opinion, Sugru isn't the stuff to use.

Sent with no malice and not a whole lot of forethought from my new Galaxy Tab 4. Thanks Santa!

Thanks MattB101, I was sort of wondering about this myself. The more I looked into it, the more it didnt seem like it was appropriate for the application nor near rigid enough once cured. Too bad, it seems like it would have been easy enough to use.

Don't get me wrong it's great stuff and has many possible uses in building a mod, just not that one.

I posted a pic of my favorite super glue. Use it all the time. Like I said before just make sure you have it where you want it when you stick it down, you got about 30 seconds to play with it and the more you play the crappier the joint. Works well even metal to metal.

Problem with cyanoacrylate based glues is that the fumes tend to "fog" the area around the application. It might not look that great on a black anodized mod.

It also is a very brittle connection (although obviously strong). If there is the minimum amount of flex, the glue can break.

Tony

Hey guys I just read through this entire thread in under two hours lol, lots of information here.

I ordered this dna 30 enclosure from FT. https://www.fasttech.com/products/1785700 does anyone know what size gauges the wires hat come with it are? If their not 18 and 24ga, where can I pick up some up at?

Got a varitube 510, with that damn 10x.5mm tap on the way as well, just to clarify which drill bit to use since I've seen two options on either, but which is is better to use the 23/64 or the 3/8?

Also waiting on my dna 40 from Hyperion, also got the charging module on the way here, the new chips are being shipped with a bigger screen right? Am I gonna have to modify the window on the case so it'll fit? why is everything so slow when your waiting on vape mail? Lol. I think that's it for now if I have anymore questions I'll be sure to stop here first. Thanks.

In my opinion the parts are junk but the case itself is nice.

Bigger screen = bigger window, so in a word, yes. Also be aware that the display isn't centered in the glass on the new ones, or so I hear.

I use pure silicone wire. Has great flexibility so it's bend radius is pretty good which is nice when working in tight areas. I get the Turnigy pure silicone wire from Hobby King. If you order from there, be sure and select a warehouse close to you or you may wait longer to receive a shipment.

Are there any screen mount for outside the enclosure?

Kabohrer2, I am not sure what exactly you are referring to, but you can take a look at this shapeways one, maybe this is what you are looking for? I saw that the guy at VarosVapor uses it in some of his home built mods. This one is made to where a "flange" sits on the outside of the mod with part of it pertruding through to the inside to mount the screen PCB to. I have not used it myself, but I have seen it on VarosVapor blog and it appears to work quite nice.

Take a look at his blog and look for some of his box mod builds, they can actually be quite informative if you havent built anything yourself previously. I ran across him when I was doing research for building my own.

Bigtom that's what I was referring to something like that. Because if I get my dna 40 and it is the bigger screen version in gonna have to cut off some of the enclosure and don't want it to look all messy. But even then is that gonna be big enough I don't have the specs for the screen size. If anyone has any ideas that'd be great, as this is the only thing im worried about.
