I've been thinking about this all morning...

- low availability (can't find 800mAh with the same size as those in the FT mini clone)
- charging when on holidays/travel... a soda charger or luc4 are much more convienient

Don't know...

Look to many of the R/C sites for the batteries. I've used Hobby King dot com many times.
Why not just use the on board charge feature when traveling?

I did search for some lipos but the most practical is the one referred by KTM, the round turnigy 1200mah... Only 1200mah though :(

The onboard charger is nice but experience tells me that the moment you don't have a charger near by is when the battery runs out.

For now I'm really liking the box style mod so a dna 40 conversion will be made. Just not sure what battery to use.

Need to check my dremel toolbox for a appropriate milling bit and see what I can come up with, I guess. A VTC5 can't be that bad. I'm really undecided with this.

By the way...

What magnet sizes do you guys use for a magnetic door? I was thinking in using 3mm diameter but on closer inspection my guess is 2mm would be more adequate to keep the slots unharmed (to avoid lateral shifts later)?

Don't get stuck on Sony batteries. They're hard to find and way overpriced if you do. Samsung 25R and LG HE2 are excellent batteries for really good prices. I bought 5 LG HE2's for $6 ea (I have 8 total).

The 1200mah lipo lasts a pretty long time with very little voltage sag. It will charge in about 2 hrs via USB (you have a car and cell phone, right? :p). I don't really use the mini anymore but my VS DNA30 has the same battery (or 1300mah so they claim) and that will last me at least 6 hrs of heavy vaping and it charges in less than 2 hrs from dead (VS uses 800ma charger).

I have 50 3mm x 1.5mm magnets. 2mm might be too weak. Once you drill the holes for them, you use epoxy or jb weld to hold them in place.

Thx for the idea. I checked the Samsung Batts and the prices varies a lot. Here in Portugal they go for 12.95€ (US 16) but in Germany I found them for 6.5€ (US 8)

I really want my chip to arrive so I can open up the mod and decide what to do :)

Little update:

First day with my FT mini and I'm puzzled.

With my evic S, I usually use 3 to 4 18350 Batts per day (thats 3 or 4 x 700mah = 2100 to 2800 mah per day)

With these lipos, it hold up the full day and when I went to bed (writing this from there lol) I still have almost half the charge.

This seems almost impossible. I vaped as usual I think... Weird?

A few things. The evic might not be as efficient as the DNA clone chip. Also, it might have a higher voltage cutoff for the batter (3.4v vs 3.2v?) so you're not actually using all of the 18350 battery. The measured capacity of the 18350 might be to 2.6v. Battery capacity is measured to it's lowest working voltage and some are lower than others.

Lipos also have less voltage sag. They are more powerful up until they die. That is why I didn't mind the VS DNA30 with the internal 1300mah lipo and why I swapped out the 18490 with a 1200mah lipo in my mini. 18650's with a 2500mah rating won't give you double the life of a 1200mah lipo, more like 50-75%.

ps. Good signature. ..f.... those extremist douchebags.

Wire stripper came in today. I had to buy one that will handle smaller wires. I color filled the gauge numbers on the side with white nail polish.

Yeah, the evic shuts down at 3.45V which is pretty high. You're right.

Well if those samsung Batts give 50% extra of what I have now that would be superb.

Need to order some.

Now I'm only ...... about my dna 40 board order... The package is nowhere to be found... I'm starting to hate the postal service.

About the sig... the douchebags are all dead now but still... What happened is going to change a lot of things here in Europe...

Update : package FINALLY out for delivery :D :D

I need to go buy a 9 X 0.75 tap and also a better mill bit so I don't ruin the enclosure too much.

Fingers crossed ;)

Hi KTM :)

Although they wouldn't hurt if you would have got them, I think I'll be ok for now without them. I ordered a OCD connector along with the dna 40 which I hope will be in the package once I pick it up.

I say "hope" because the last package I got with a 3 week delay, was partially destroyed because it became stuck in a sorting machine and half of the bits were missing.

I'll let you know for sure in about 18h :)

Thanks for remembering though ;)

I can wait until tomorrow to place my order. I was actually thinking about shaving down one of my 14mm connectors to 12mm to fit inside the small circle on the Hana box. I ended up ordering 4 DNA40's so I need more switches and 22mm 510's. I realize I don't need 5 DNA40's so I might end up selling 1 or 2 in the classifieds.

Are they using the same rubberized coating from the rDNA40 on the DNA30 now...I ordered my DNA30 at the end of October and it still had the older slick painted finish. If so, I may have to pick up a second DNA30. :)

I picked up my DNA30 around mid-December. It has the same rubbery coating as my rDNA40. I found out how I got a small scratch on my rDNA40. The battery door magnet is pretty strong and snaps the door to the case. The top edge hits the top of the mod so it made a ~3mm scratch but it's barely visible so I'm not worried about it. I'll probably fill it in with a sharpie.

I've been using my DNA30 with a KF v4 clone much more lately because I like the atomizer. I have 2 more clones coming so I might build one with ni200.

Well tomorrow I'll see if the connector is actually there and if it fits.
Now I'm starting to worry about dremeling out the battery compartment for a good fit. I would like to do a clean job but I can't remember where I stored my dremel drill press (was thinking in using it sideways as a kind of rudimentary mill) so I'll probably will need to do it freehand (which sucks). A couple a year's ago I had a small, crappy cnc mill that would have been perfect for this (in manual mode) but in a moment of frustration about the lack of precision, I threw it out... Now I regret it.

Oh well... :)

Got the package today. Everything seems ok.

KTM rider: I appreciate the offer and effort but for now, I think I'll manage with the bits I have. All I need now is a 9x0.75 mm tap...

Going to the hardware store as I type. Wish me luck.
