Nice review Br. Did you do anything to the wick?

Nope. As stated above, "....... without any modifications." The filler ring was never removed, so nothing could have been done with the wick. For this kind of a test, I like to pretend that I am a first time user and completely ignorant about a product. However, you may get better results by modifying the wick. I'm just a sissy and it wicks well enough for me 'as is'.

br, zelda,

Hmmm. So far the E2 v2 and v3.5 XL's are 2.6Ω (ie. not even a range - right at 2.6). I'd like to get a 3 - 3.4Ω for the 5volt mod in standard size. Again, I'd have to dive back into the E2 threads to get up to date but it isn't pressing. I like the idea of running the wick through the slits on the XL's though. I get the idea that I'm not utiliizing the whole capacity of them - seem to be refilling at about the same rate as the standard size. But again, just don't care for the extra length and not needed on the wetbox. Thanks for the info....

I put the wick through the slits originally to stop the leaking and then realized it would help the wicking running across.

I'm using the 510 XL but even though they hold more liquid you have to refill after 1/2 is empty because you get poorer performance and flavor loss -or at least I do. And it does seem you need to refill them almost as much as the standards.

A 3Ω version became available a couple days ago for the regular length. This length at 2.5Ω did not have a wicking problem for me. It should wick even better at 3Ω.

Thanks br! I'll check into that. I'm not sure what the difference was with the XL - wicking is about all it could be, I thought. I just wasn't getting the duration difference, imo.

zelda, I was getting the same type of behavior on the 1/2 fill thing. Although it wasn't just a loss of flavor but vapor as well.

A good number of people have the same experience as you and Zelda. I believe wicking has always been a problem with most of the XL's because the wick has to pick up about twice the distance of a regular length E2. Most of them begin running dry at 1/2 fill unless they are vaped in the horizontal position, or thereabouts. I have tested only a few outstanding examples that will vape the tank dry with the battery pointed down. I don't know if my report a few posts back was one of these rare examples, or if the polyfil inside helped the wicking to be better.

Vive los mineros! Vive Chile!

Been glued to my TV set for over 24 hours. I'm so proud of them, I'm so proud of the United States. Wasn't that amazing?

OK, back on topic.

A little filler. that's the trick to any carto.

Re: Boge LR cartos from LiteCig. These are actually very good quality cartos. The wick is highly burn resistant. The only issue with them is too much filler.

Yeah, I like the Boges, but I have a feeling that they switched the filler again. I have the older, glued-on-cap varsion and the newer version with soft rubber caps, and the old ones seem to wick better. I'll do a side by side autopsy soon and compare the filler. I think you're on to something, Nic. They did the same thing with the Turbos and other premium HR kr808 cartos. The early ones wicked like a dream, and then, when they switched to the soft caps, they changed the filler. And all the problems with overstuffing, burning, poor airflow, etc. started. Seems like the same is happening with the Tru-Vapor cartos, too. Why are they messing up with a good thing?

I might pick up a pack or two though because those colored 4081 and 808 bats are calling my name. They are hard to find other than V4L.

I've gone through several packs of these and found them to be quite burn resistant...as burn resistant as V9 and V4L CC. They don't have as much filler though so the downside is they don't hold as much juice. But the upside is, on sale, they are cheaper. :2c::2c::2c:

SS blanks would send me in their direction but I cannot stand the prefilled stuff. I don't like washing cartos because I always fear it will ruin them. So I just blow it out the best I can and fill with something really strong, hoping to negate the tobacco taste.

I ordered some 510 cartos from AZ Smokes, should have them tomorrow, I'll report.

As for the batteries, Lorikay kr8 batts from Vapor Kings. Have you tried them?

AZ Smokes carries blanks. And you don't want too much filler, trust me. See above. :p

FYI

LeCig is coming out with 808 D-2 cartos made in the US in November. They'll have adaptors for 808D-1.

And Bloog is coming out with new kr808 cartomizers. Leaford will have them sometime in November. He says they will be highly burn resistant. Can't wait to try them. He's also working with Royal Smokers. Very exciting.

i second boge cartomizers. I have never had a burnt one (unless my switch stuck for an extended period of time, i really should get around to replacing it). Additionally, they seem to wick a whole lot better too. I can take hit after hit at 5.5 volts, and never get a burnt taste until the carto is dry, but with the SLB's, i can only take 2 or 3 drags, then I have to wait for a minute or two.

FWIW, boge is a subsidiary of dekang

I like the regular SLB 510 cartos too, but I think that Boges are better. I like the draw. But, I'm worried about that new overstuffing problem. Do you use the hard- or the soft-cap ones? And where do you buy yours?

Thank you Br for the wonderful review. Keep them coming. So much is changing, I can't keep up with all the new stuff. Anyway, Bruce at CoV said he should have the 3.0Ω E2 R4 sometime next week. That's what I'm waiting for. Should I get the regular or the XL?

Nevertheless it did work.

You're all soooo immature....

I don't know what's wrong with those kids. You asked a simple question and I replied the best way I knew how. All that I can add is that the short ones run out too quick and most of the long ones begin running dry when they are about 1/2 way through. Surely they won't be immature about that addition.

They are bad kids, I tried to warn you...
