V = IR
P = RI^2 = VI = V^2/R

As you see Power is very much dependent on resistance because it is the Resistance that dictates the amount of current (Amp) through the circuit.
More Amp = A lot more Heat

If your element is WET as it should be, then the metal cannot get hot enough to produce its own vapor. If you fill a pot with water and put it on a stove, then it will not get hot enough to produce its own vapor either.

As usual, Br is right. If your element is wet, all is well.

the Bauway carto you sent me (from Madvapes), I Took apart and guess what. It had a Horizontal coil.
His old batch had Vertical coils.

This is just too weird... I never saw a Bauway with a horizontal coil. How old was that batch?

Hi Guy's. Does anyone have a problem with the cartomizer getting hot? They don't melt or burn but they do get hot. Why does this happen? Any advise would be appreciated

Depends on how you vape, but yes, many people have a problem with the cartomizer getting hot.
It's because of the coil inside that vaporizes the juice. Some just take fairly long drags with relatively little time between drags.

They are more likely to get hot as you get less juice in there. The filler wicks so it all gradually drys out as you vape it. It's not like it gets dry at the top or bottom and stays wet at the other end as you use it up. The amount of juice on the coil diminishes gradually as you use it up rather than all of a sudden when it runs completely dry. Less juice vaporizing off the coil and the hotter it runs. It's not uncommon.

The solution (at least one of the most popular) is to use a drip tip. You remove the very top cap as you would to fill it and use a drip tip instead. I prefer the ones made from delrin over the metal ones since I prefer the texture on the lips and they conduct very little heat if any at all.

A few types of cartomizers are now made with plastic barrels which conduct much less heat.

This won't help if you are using the enclosed carts that you can't see inside. I use soft cap carts and have noticed that sometimes the filler is pushing the wire inside against the wall of cartomizer. A paperclip or tweezers to nudge it back toward the center can help. Gets the heat source away from the metal sidewalls. I toss the caps and replace with a drip tip. . .

Hello everyone, it's me again, the burning-carto newbie from a week or so back... just thought I'd give you all an update on my progress for those who may be interested (and aren't following the CE2-R4 thread).

After some initial difficulties getting my E2s cleaned and dry burned (mainly caused by not having a manual battery), I've achieved success with them, and, at least so far, I'm incredibly impressed. Straight out of the box, they're not usable, but with a little bit of prep work they seem to work great, without even PTB modding them... I've been chain vaping them for a couple hours (rotating between two) and haven't hit any wicking issues yet. At this point they seem like an all-round better carto than traditional filler cartos - more vapor production, better draw, better TH, and they seem to get nicotine into my bloodstream much more effectively... I realize now that for the past two weeks since I quit analogs, I've been severely nicotine-starved, getting just barely enough of a fix to keep me from running to the liquor store for a pack, but not really enough to satisfy my craving.... the e2s are a whole different story.

My only complaint is that they do seem to 'overcook' your juice a bit [edit: at 3.7v on an 808 battery]... for non-tobacco flavors a lot of the subtlety of the flavor is lost... but for tobacco flavors it actually makes them better - more smoke-like. Maybe a higher ohm version (I'm already using the 3.0s) could help for subtler juices.

Of course this is just a preliminary opinion based on a couple hours of successful vaping - I may end up running in to problems down the road, but for right now I'm very optimistic that I may have found a non-burning carto that works for me.

Oh, and I also just got in a couple boxes of V9 turbos to test, but at the moment I have no interest in them ;)

Hello, Bluesmom. Quick and Magic are of course correct, however, I noticed your posts on the SmokeStik forum and I wonder if the overheating cartos you're talking about are the SS cartos. I've been using SS batteries and cartomizers for quite some time, on and off, but I've never experienced any overheating whatsoever. As a matter of fact, they are 3.4Ω cartos and the batteries are about 3.4v, so, on paper, they shouldn't even get warm. That makes me think that something is wrong. Unless, of course, you're referring to different cartomizers.
