This issue has been talked about quite a bit because of user reports and my personal experience with the original shipment of blank MF cartos. They have been restocked now and I want to determine if this problem is still occurring with the new shipment of blanks. There were several posts about burnt taste with the prefilled as well.

I apologize in advance for beating this issue to death but I am waiting to hear from users before I order more blanks.

In addition, I want to say that I loved the performance of the prefilled cartos I ordered. I ordered 50 blanks and have thrown most of them out after 1-5 puffs due to the burnt taste. Several people posted that they had the same problem.

Thank you for your responses.:vapor::vapor::vapor:

I would like to know as well. If I order it will be prefilled ry4. I dont know if these have the same issues but i do know the blanks, reds and 555 do have the problem with blanks being much more of a problem.

I got prefilled ry4 Tuesday and they work great, although I don't care for how they taste. I cleaned one out and have been refilling it, and it's been fine, no burnt taste at all.

just got 25 MaxxFusion Blank cartomizers today. Filled one. Was fine, Honey Hookah 12mg organic VG juice from Velvet Vapors. After a few puffs the taste went bad, burnt-like, and stunk up the room so bad my wife complained. She loves the vapor all the time for years now and never complains. Something is wrong here, what should I do? Is there a fix or must I return these?

is that 100% vg ? im my experience (ymmv) anything over 20-30% vg just does not work well in any carto. the juice is too thick to wick properly. of course, you may have thinned it out?

Jay, This is the same thing I experienced. I use v4l too and they aren't sensitive to my juices. Juices shouldn't be a problem for any blanks IMO.

the five pack of cartos i had only had 1 in it that had the bad taste. most juices are not a problem with cartos, but as i said, in MY experience, YMMV, too much vg causes issues. i think everyone would agree that dark liquids kill cartos MUCH faster than clear.

I've only used three of the 25 and I've normally been re-filling when vapor production starts trailing off...but one of the cartos I let get low enough that it was barely putting out any vapor at all and still no burnt taste. Perhaps there's still a consistency issue with some of the cartos, but I am extremely impressed with the ones I have.

Keep in mind I still smoke so my taste buds aren't very sharp.

Ok, I'm just getting a burnt/fowl taste in my first carto. It's probably been refilled about 4 times. I think too much vaping on a weak battery is the cause this time. I've also noticed the same type of taste on other cartos when using an auto battery with poor draw.

On other cartomizers, I've been somewhat successful by boiling them for a short period of time and letting them dry for a few days.

20 to 40 drops of various juices, with and without spinning. The cartos are defective and I need a resolution. I contacted customer service via the web site and through my e-mail and have no response yet. I can return 20 of the 25 I bought and get pre-filled cartos, which are good, or get a refund. Whatever is easier. And further, the chemicals released from these carts made my tongue sore and gave me a latent headache, both of which I still have 2 days later. I think I will be okay but the lot of these blanks needs to be recalled and the problem corrected. There seems to be a fundamental problem in the manufacturing of these, involving a process not used in the pre-filled carto manufacturing. They release SMOKE and are potentially toxic.

UPDATE. Mike Coughlin has e-mailed me and gave me the option of exchanging these cartomizers or getting a full refund. Thanks.

Hi Jay,

I saw your post just before I went to bed last night, but wasn't sure how to respond. Chemical taste? Smoke? It's not that I don't believe you, but that it's totally anomolous to every other report, and everything I know about them.

All I can do is assure you, and hope you believe me, that there is abslutely no difference between the blanks and the prefilled. They are all made at the same time, same way, same batch. The only difference is some get filled, and some don't. And there are no chemicals or chemical treatments involved.

- Thanks Leaford for the input. If you open an old cartomizer, you see they burn. Unrolling the filler reveals charred brown material, black even. That has to make smoke. I believe you, but this batch I had was instantly disintegrating or something. I received grape as well in this shipment and they are fine, even when I refill them. I'm mailing the blanks back today for prefilled cartos in return.
- Aren't you changing the resistance? Seems to me increasing the resistance would lower the current and therefore lower the burnout factor.
Yet all I hear about is LR attys and lowering the resistance. I work in electronics, not atomizers though so I may be way off base.

WHAT?!?!

Jay, if you burnt your filler, I have to question whether you have MaxxFusion blanks at all.

MaxxFusion will not burn under normal vaping. PERIOD. If you vape them when they are totally dry, you can develop a TINY burnt spot, but that's all.

That's an empty carto I puffed on a good dozen drags without filling it AT ALL, then for good measure I put it on a manual battery and ran it through two full 10-second activations. Pretty sure the coil burnt out sometime durng that.

Even 100% dry, that's the most they will possibly burn. If yours are burnt any more than that, they're not MaxxFusion.
