Hi all.

Sorry if this is a dumb question, but can I vape pure PG or VG or distilled water filled directly into a tank? (no nic, no flavour, not mixed)

Thank you!

----

Reason for asking: 3rd week into vaping my tongue started protesting heavily and dermatologist says I now have migratory glossitis/geographic tongue. We never did an allergy test because the doc said a skin test would not reflect the same as what would be happening on mucus membranes. Ordered some VG liquids, tongue is protesting again. I would like to pinpoint if my problems stem from PG or VG ... or if the concept of vaping just doesn't agree with my body, which would be devastating!!! :nun:

"migratory glossitis/geographic tongue"? Well there's one I had to go look up. Ickers!

What I read indicated there is no known cause. Only one reference cited cheese as possibly triggering the condition. Statistical factors that increase the likelihood of getting it are a history of psoriasis, deep fissures in the pattern of the tongue, or another family member diagnosed with the condition. All references say the condition is harmless, albeit annoying. No known treatment and it resolves on it's own.

What was your dermatologists take? Did you discuss the "V" word and tell them you were vaping?

There is a known issue where some people who quit smoking - with or without vaping - get mouth ulcers. But if a hair is ever split over "migratory glossitis" and "mount ulcers" I don't know.

As to your question: Sure, you can vape 100 PG or 100 VG unflavored, with or without nic. Mt. Baker has a 70VG/30h2o you can get as unflavored with or without nic. But vaping plain water? That really won't work. Even if a coil could get hot enough to create steam out of plain water the experience wouldn't be pleasant enough to bother with.

Thanks, Rickajho!
On a side note ... I find your posts always very informative and well-structured.

Spoke to the doc directly about vaping, even brought gear along. Although I've not changed anything major in my life (except dropping cigs and starting vaping) when the condition appeared, I will not make vaping responsible for it. It just coincided, and I never had it before. There is also the risk of the diagnosis being wrong, but an allergic reaction is my aim of pinpointing or ruling out.

Have dedicated myself to combat my cig-addiction and will not be defeated easily.
