Perhaps what we all should do is accept that new Vapors are of all ages, sexes, and experiences and might be better served if we offered them a variety of choices...There are enough choices today for everyone. Let the buyer decide what's best for them. I personally can't see my 70 yr old mother Blowin' clouds @ 150 watts on a dripper but...I'd run the idea by her if she'd agree to a least try and quit smoking after 52 yrs.

Maybe just present it the way I approached it; I had no intention of quitting, I just wanted something I could use indoors on cold nights, or in the truck and not choke my husband to death with my smoke. It turned out to be such a good substitute, I went ahead and quit.

Thankfully. There's going to be some teeth-gnashing when I say this, but crabs have waaaaay to many legs to be appealing as a food.

Crabs are just giant spiders with hands.

Not exactly for the faint of heart :)

I've been seeing this more and more. "Oh get a Subtank, it has such great flavor!"
A newly ex-smoker doesn't want a Subtank. They want to emulate a cigarette. Even with the airflow turned down to a quarter of one hole on my Subtank it's still waaaay more airy than I wanted when I started vaping. I've come to find that the Atlantis/Subtank are basically worthless if you aren't lung inhaling. Most smokers don't lung inhale, ergo most recently quit smokers won't either.

Sure these new cloudomizers (see what I did there? I want credit for that) are cool and lots of fun, but the great majority of people coming blindly into vaping will not be interested in them. Had you handed me a Subtank when I started vaping I would have found it unusable, not just because of wattage issues but because of the airflow.

Just something to consider when giving out advice, solicited or otherwise.

Ahhh, young grasshopper.....'tis the JOURNEY....not the DESTINATION!!! Whatever works to get (and then KEEP) one off of the coffin nails as seen left of this post....THAT is what we all seek!

Plus, don't we ALL need a BOX FULL of crap we've outgrown! Stuff to PIF to our protégés as we convert THEM to quitting!

That said, I will say that a nauti mini on an iStick is THE way to go for a NOOB....if not an eGo with _____ on it. :2c:

Carry on....:)

My mother in law is 84 and not steady enough to use much more than a cig a like. I bought her a Volt kit and after smoking over 60 years she quit 3 weeks ago. Do you think she is ready to step up to something with a bigger hit? She will have a hard time filling a tank with juice much less building coils. What do you suggest? :)
    and later
Well my mother in law quit smoking cold turkey with Volt ecigs (minimal product) and has tried my wife's estick and tanks but doesn't like the hit. She wants more Volt ecigs. She thinks the Volt is much like her cigarettes Maybe I should let her try my Plume Veil or Rose. I want her to feel secure....

Good point. ;) As I said in the post you first replied to, there's no hurry. She may eventually want something a little better or may not. The cost of seriously using the Volt stuff can't be any higher than lots of nice hardware and loads of premium juice to run through it. Although most of us shudder at the thought of paying that much for that quality of hit, it has a quality of own sort in convenience and if a small hit is what you want. I think a lot of smokers don't think a lot about smoking and want that aspect in vaping.

A good reason to not start off sub-ohm is to see what the minimum one can get along with. There's an actual value in that, both in harm reduction and experience. Plus an older or heavier smoker can't handle as much. The subtank with the 1.2 ohm coil would be one good suggestion for a beginner who insists upon a powerful vape though.

I had a point but don't think you got it. :) It cost a whopping $23 bucks for 2 volt batteries a charger and 5 blank cartridges. The premium quality juice was 9.40/60ml (SHUDDER :))and it hits as close to a cigarette as I've seen. A fine hit. Plenty of vape and flavor. Thinkin about getting a couple myself for tobaccos. A lot of vapors think cigalikes cost as much or more than their "nice" hardware and their expensive "Premium" juice. But they spend as much on a 30ml bottle of juice as she has in 2 rigs. I chose Volt because I didn't want to buy prefilled cartridges of unknown juice. I had more confidence in the company I use. A subtank for her? you're jokin, right? :)
It seems most everybody that has vaped more than 2 weeks (including me:))thinks they are an expert. My advice to a person wanting to start vaping is don't ask a vaper their advice, ask 12 or 20 of em. Then go with your thoughts about the majority opinion and your common sense. :)

I started vaping before MVPs, glass clearos, and subohming. I started with a Blu because I didn't know other things existed, yet. Per this forum, I progressed to an Ego Twist, then a ProVari. For me, cigalikes and tobacco ejuice were not what I wanted, as I didn't need to be reminded of cigarettes.

However, I wouldn't tell a newbie to get a Sub Tank either. What I generally recommend is an iStick and a Nautilus.

This is generally my recomendation too. But it does seem that more and more folks are coming into the vaping realm Without ever being smokers. I'm not really sure what their needs are being as I was a tobacco smoker for over 3 decades. I'm only really concerned with Battery safety when it comes to Newbies and Low ohms. I Don't want to see any more Dee-Jays out there living on the edge...Wet towel and all.
