So, both my regular and LR eGo-T atties were working perfectly. I had ordered some different flavors to try from EC Blends, and just got them today. One of them was the "Coffee Your Way", and it was just nasty. Totally my fault; the way I had them mix it just didn't turn out right. Tastes like burnt coffee and melted plastic that's been sitting around all day on the burner. At first, I thought that it tasted bad because my LR atty had a different flavor in it, and they just didn't go together. So I tried it in my regular atty. Same nasty flavor. So that flavor is a flop. Anyway, then I blew them out and cleaned the insides with a q-tip. Tried a different flavor, but still tastes like nasty burnt coffee/plastic. I just can't get rid of this gross taste!

I'd read that soaking eGo-T atties is a bad idea, but I'm starting to think that's my only option other than throwing them out. Ideas?

You may have burnt it. Sometimes it is too late. Try soaking in alcohol 15 minutes, blowing it out, then soaking again, blowing it out. Let it dry well before vaping.

The first time you vape, put a couple of drops right on it, push the button and don't inhale. Then put a couple more drops on and vape away.

+1. The first couple of vapes from a new (or newly cleaned) atty can taste metallic or burnt. They sometimes need to be "conditioned" a little before use.

I also tried a new coffee liq today which has a very bad taste.. I'm a new vaper and dont think I put enough e.lig in the new cartomiser as it also smells burnt.
Would not enough e.liq cause it to burn ?

YES.....................Initial fill is very important that you soak the entire middle and all internals, same with Atty's as I fill mine above the Bridge with a condom on the bottom and let em sit for a while, then use em, same with a new Carto, fill all the way and let it sit for a bit insuring the internals are wet, if you wire touches dry filler or a dry wick it burns it right away.

I have been having the same exact issue with one of my brand new atty's. it just tastes like metal. I'm seeing several different methods here, and still not sure what to do exactly. I guess I will try to alcohol thing since I don't have any Grain alcohol laying around. How do you take the atty out of the cone? Im wondering for when I will need to clean out the bottom of the cone where a Q-tip cannot reach. I just bought an eGo 900mah kit with 2 mega cone atty's type A, one of the battery's light doesn't turn on when the passthrough is plugged into it, so that's going back, but not until smoktec can replace it as they are pretty much out of half their merch at the moment. Very cool guy, Rob, the owner has been very helpful. But, now I don't want to bug him about a nasty tasting atty too, so if alcohol soaking is not a good method, please advise. Thanks guys!

Aha. Just disassembled the LR atty. Looks like the wick fell through onto the coil and melted onto it. Haven't opened the other one yet, but probably the same thing. Not sure how that happened. I'm very careful and try to tinker with them as little as possible. This LR atty is only like 4 days old. :S But, my roomie has a dead atty, so I can probably re-wick it after I get the melted plastic off.

Same thing happened to me. And a coffee flavor none the less.

I soaked atty in 90% alcohol and blew it out. First day it did have a metallic taste and didnt seem to work as well, but after that day it came back to normal and works like new. The cart still isnt the same and I dont think it will ever be so I just use it for really strong flavors.

Assuming you haven't "burnt" the atty, the best method to clean out a flavor or taste is PGA. Unlike any water based cleaning, it evaporates quickly and leaves no after taste. Put some in and shake it good and I would also let it sit for a least a couple of hours in a bath of PGA.
Probably the best method I've ever tried . If PGA (pure grain alcohol) is not available , try some vodka , soak a bit longer , but the results are about the same . Good Luck
