Mechs will always be around for the purists.

... and the abusive. I'm downright mean to my vape gear at work. Contaminants, physical abuse, temperature abuse... everything I do to my work vape is dead wrong for electronics.

I'd LOVE to have a regulated mod I could depend on like my cellphone but there's a reason I carry the $250 smartphone and not the latest and greatest $700 model. At some point I fully expect to destroy the thing via abuse.

I hear you on that too brotha, and FWIW, I never felt you were insinuating the things my post was describing - but I do get that vibe from several here. Options are good. We didn't have that many options with cigs and that left us with garbage. Marlboros camels and what have you. Sloths would have been better. As would Catfishes.

I would also like to mirror SuperX's suggestion of a TMod. It's a wonderful thing to use a device knowing your battery will fail before your contacts do. I would suggest a "boy". Just feels stronger to me. I have one that I would let you try out if you were so inclined.

Well, the chip in my Geyscano finally crapped out. So now I'm down to just a Reo. Waiting forever for my prepaid Tmod sniper girl. And the CAM-M will be ready when it's ready (no problem, Tom - I actually enjoy waiting for this one).

I don't think I want any more Reos. Had one major meltdown already. Yeah, it coulda been partly my fault, but I really don't care. It's just not robust enough for regular sub-ohm use, IMO. "Don't worry, the spring will collapse". Are you kidding me? My button melted...

So I need a couple new mods. Sitting here debating pulling the trigger on a couple of pre-built Pekos from Live Wire Mods to hold me over. Or going over to VaporShark and buying a dinosaur VaporFlask. Is there another "ships next week" option I should consider? Any input would be appreciated.

PM incoming.

A big part of me feels sorry for big R but at the same time it seems very much self inflicted. All of us are a few bad decisions away from Ruin. I was a bit upset when he began modding the same attys I was at the time but I didn't realize then it was a Hail Mary to save jobs and Reomods as we know it. IMO it would behoove him to redesign the Reo to keep up before the Reo actually becomes a cliche. If he would ever reach out I would help any way I can.

Seems petty to me. This is getting ridiculous and embarrassing. Anyone who bottom feeds should thank and recognize who came up with the idea in the first place. Tmod is the most expensive BF mod and it comes as a mechanical, so why is a Reo in need of a redesign, with the same atty could one tell the difference in the vape between the two? I could buy 3 Reos for the price of... I used a regulated mod for a while set it up the way I liked to vape and never changed the settings, I can do the same with a Reo with the coil/battery setup. Rob is also coming out with a resin mod soon, rumours are there might be a regulated version.

I spend time on both forums I felt I had to say something.

I thank you for that brother, I will give it some thought. I've been eyeballing TMods, they do look incredible. A 26650 TMod would rock. It's not something I'd get anytime real soon, but, it's something that's entered my radar without a doubt.

I have to be honest, I get a total kick out of those people here saying things that basically insinuate mechs are a dying breed etc, or that to not "evolve" and use regulated technology is bad or stupid. I laugh at that. I'll never use anything with a chip, it is useless to me. Do I say negative things about your new evolved hardware though? No. Let people vape what they vape. I have no need for flashy lights and TC and all that jazz. Sure it's fine but I have zero interest, if I am stupid or a dinosaur so be it. I also prefer nature trails to city sidewalks.

I don't think anyone around here is insinuating mechs are a dying breed or that there's anything wrong with them. Just look at the demand for mech Tmods or the list for the CAM M. There will always be a market for mechs. But I do prefer regulated mods - same voltage every pull. There's more to evolving than just mech vs reg. I have 4 squonkers and 3 are reos, and I almost never drip anymore. But I prefer flush mounting 22mm attys and that's just not something I can get from my mods from Maine. It wasn't long ago that sub-ohming was not possible with them either, kinda glad I waited. I hope Rob comes up with some design changes. Until then, I've got a Tmod mini ordered ( attempt to get my wife squonking), I'm on the list (way down) for the CAM M, and the 18650 Tmod, SXJ Tmod, and CAM SXJ will be my next mod purchases.

Beautiful Tom! Got paid yesterday so as soon as you give the "ok" to pay it's on. By the way did you get my email with my name and address? And did you find my order?
Yes sir... I was having a very hard time figuring out who you were, that email was instrumental in figuring it out. I was just used to you dealing with chad on FB. That and searching my email with the term "Bottom Feeder" was of little help. I have you written up and all of your stuff segregated in a CF Ziploc bag.

Yeah I could be wrong about the insinuations, just seems that way sometimes is all.

Looking back at how far vaping has come in the 4+ years I've been vaping, it's amazing. Personally, I've gone from cig alikes, to early vv mods, to tube mechanicals, to mechanical squonkers, using everything from cartomizers, to CE2s, to homemade ghetto tanks, to mesh gennys, to conventional drippers, to Kayfuns, Taifuns, to whatever other 'funs' were out there. But eventually, when I got to Reos and BF attys, I got off the bus. I can always get back on, I suppose. But for now, I'll sit tight with the mechanical squonk boxes.

I'm with ya. Mechanicals all the way, for me. No desire whatsoever for chip mods.

I'm pretty much 95% mech as well. All of my squonkers are mech. I do really like the yihi chip in the SXMini, but I know someday it will go out. Hopefully not for a long time. But, with my TMods, REOs and Avion, I know they are here to stay. I have an older stabilyzed vv woodvil that is at the "spa" as we speak having the old chip taken out. I knew that it was a matter of time that it would fail and was sending a couple of other woodies in anyway.

I'm not a genius by any means but I think the button could melt without an actual short. Excessive sparking would cause that right? I run .3 more often than not and with proper maintenance have had no issues but sometimes I notice it sparking up a storm.

Mechs, regulateds... whatever. Let's just be thankful our boy Tom is filling the atty niche. It is disheartening to read posts bagging on other BF suppliers. Keep in mind folks, if it weren't for the guys making the mods to sit under Catfish attys, there would likely be no Catfish attys.

Love it! Now you see why so many of us keep bringing up the CAM-R :D

You ordered an Aromamizer RDTA?
I did... Evidently they don't ship as fast as Vapinart however. This is the first time I have actually used a Haze. Not bad.

Well, mine fused the battery to the top contact and the spring didn't collapse. While I was driving. Despite regular maintenance. Not something I'm willing to have happen again. So now I vape it around the house.

I hear you on that but I'm not suggesting that the Reo or Mechs in general should be swept to the wayside but their should be an option. Sunbox still makes mechs, TMod has made tons of them as well. Sometimes I just don't want to fiddle with getting a coil to an exact resistance, I prefer the range method. .3-.8. Mechs will always be around for the purists.

Perfectly put. Mechs will always have a place in my collection for sure, just ordered my third Tmod earlier this week, last month I was also able to snag a brass custom classic and I'm shortly due to receive a custom wood mod made which is my third type of those from another supplier and that's not to mention the CAM-M hopefully ready soon - I like variation not just in looks but in shape, how they feel and how they fire.

Regulated is just another breed and again will always feature in my collection. The technology side also seems to be what the younger generation in particular crave. To evolve as a business you need to move with the times to pick up new customers and in some situations to keep existing ones. That's not to say you forget your bread and butter, but to stay stagnant as a supplier (not user [emoji6]) in any business more often than not over time will have consequences.

I'm sure and do hope Rob will be fine, he's fortunate through his product and outstanding customer service to have built a large loyal following which I'm sure will be waiting for his next move, hopefully it will be the right one.

I have not seen a hint of anyone turning their noses up at another in a mech vs. regulated debate. I just went back and read through a ton of posts trying to find where the insinuation was made. I could not find anything.

Each person is on their own vaping journey. You, and you alone knows what works best for you to receive the most enjoyable vape. It's your money and you get to decide how to spend it (even if you must have spousal permission).

A T-mod is no where near the most expensive squonker, mech or otherwise. A Geyscano is not the cheapest regulated. If a device finds marketability at it's price range, it will sell. Until it either over saturates the market, becomes no longer viable at it's price point, or enough new things come along to attract the interest of buyers.

The Blacksmith's shop used to be the most frequented place in town. Doesn't mean there was flaw in his work when his business dried up.

Don't worry, sloth. Our mechs aren't going away any time soon.

lulz... I'm still vaping the same REO that I was when the round of chips that were going to be "mech killers" came out, many of which have now succumbed to electronic death.

I want regulated squonking but I guarantee I'll never carry one onto a jobsite. Mechs are reliable and even if I dropped my REO into a bucket of water it would work once I dried it out a little and replaced the juice and wick.

I,just don't get that....
I work in one of the nastiest environments conceivable and I have never had a device fail. It's all in how you take care of them. This is one of the cleanest interlockings that I work in. The rest of them I can't even take a picture of due to the complete darkness. I'm a modern day cave dweller.
