I had the pleasure of meeting the Catfish in person for breakfast this morning.
As expected, he's definitely my kinda guy. He oughta move to Texas.
Even got to try out the prototype Cam R. That is definitely going to be a Big Winner!
Left w/a bag full of blow out atties as well. Excellent quality and a bargain price.
Everybody should jump on these. I had to order a couple more to be shipped after seeing them.

I would order some, but I have a 3:1 atty to mod ratio going on right now and not enough time in the day!:)

Lol my ratio is like exactly 1 to 1 ATM and I know for certain that I will need more attys in the future cause I'm on like mod lists and shiyut.

NO! Those are high wattage low amp. You need the green. The purples will feel flat and overheat quickly.
Thanks you Tom, but listen, how do I get to understand wattage vs amps? Do I want higher amps for every mod reg or mec? I thought the purple was a higher amp since the number was higher, 5200?

Got my Thumps in today, and they're pretty sweet. Slapped some .4 duals(26g, 2mm ID) in them and they're rocking at the moment, albeit a bit warm for my tastes. It looks like I'm going to have to up the resistance a bit, but other than that they're great.

Another quality atty, thanks Tom. I also appreciate the native wick samples and the CAM stickers, very classy ;)

The high wattage (higher Mah) batteries are more suited to flashlight use. I have dozens of 3100 and 3400mah 18650s for my arsenal of flashlights. (Most of my real jobs tasks are in pitch black tunnels and all of them are done well after the sun goes down in horrid conditions).

Flashlights draw a very linear load and with the exception of a few hot rodded searchlights don't draw much more than 7 amps even at full power, the goal is long life that is provided by the low amp albeit high mah rated batteries. Ecig use on the other hand is a very non-linear load. Zero load to nearly a dead short, rinse repeat. Most 18650s used in flashlights have an individual protection circuit that will trip between 5-10amps making vaping with them nearly impossible. We need high ampacity and as much capacity as possible but the most important factor for safety is ampacity.

In short the purple batteries you are looking at would be suited well to a high power, high wattage, high resistance load unlike vaping. The green Efests and many of the others suggested to you will perform well in an Ecig/sub ohm application. With the purple work? Yes but not well and not for long. Disregard any cell that isn't proven to be able to stand up to a 25amp load for CONTINIOUS USE.

The number, especially in the thousands, is usually the mah, which is the life of the battery, you generally have to sacrifice mah for amp rating in a given cell. The amp rating is generally going to be 20 or above in anything worth looking at. If a battery says 40 amps on it it's probably not a good battery just because there not really there yet so most likely the battery company is overstating the specs, I which case you would be wise to stay away. Having said that in a 26650 the green effests have been my favorite for a while. I don't like promoting effest but I have been really happy with the greens I believe they are 4200mah. Some of them will have a dual amp rating like 20/40 for example, this is pulse/continuous, another tricky thing to watch out for.
Hope this helps a little.

If anyone wants their 26650 to hold different cells lmk, I can open it up but it will make your button throw longer. I recommend sticking with the greens neway.

3:1? That's it? I have sold off a few mods lately but I'm at 10-15:1. I love my attys. I still have a Marquis, veritas, and stumpy for every mod I own. And 6 Kennedys just in case I want to open it up a little. I'm really enjoying the Kennedy 24mm on the Cam-R. Who says you can't blow huge clouds and have flavor? Try a Kennedy at 125w and bottom fed! The Velocity is pretty awesome at 85w plus as well.

Lets simplify it:

  • mah (5200) is the amount of energy the battery stores
  • amps is the amount of current or energy flow a battery can put out (think stream vs river)
  • The lower the resistance (ohms) of a coil, the more current the battery puts out
You want a battery that can safely put out the level of amps your coil will draw

Do some research on ohms law to see how to calculate requirements based on battery voltage, resistance and current (amps)
