Abandoned KGD? I can't do that. I've got enough to last for the rest of my life and still have some left over! I am going to order some native just to try it out. It's kind of costly though at $8 for 3 feet, plus shipping!

Yeah me too on the KGD and I bought me a big ol 500' box of rayon that I used for about 3 days. I use the rayon as packing material sometimes. The KGD I'll keep for a bit then give to my wife. Heck, just a few days ago I threw away my lifetime supply of sterile rolled.

Now I hoarded native. Good stuff IMO.

Really? I have both but I prefer KGD it seems to absorb faster but I will agree the Native stuff is higher quality cotton.
Native actually absorb faster than KGD...you need to prime it
Juiced up the fresh native...fire it till about dry...then squonk...you will see how fast it absorb
And you don't need lots of cotton like KGD...too much cotton will result dry burned taste as the wick expended and block the juice.....loose wicking

I've learned not to hoard wicking materials as next month something better will come out it seems like.

I like the Native Wick...pretty neat stuff. But since I started using this "Scottish Roll" technique for wicking...KGD is still on top for me. There is a YouTube video or 2...search "Scottish Roll Wicking". It works amazingly well in RDAs.

I thought about using this technique, but since I only squonk I didn't see that the primary benefit (lots of hits off of a single priming) was necessary since bf priming is so effortless.

Would you say it's an advantage for squonking (other than the leak resistance you mentioned)?

In my case I've used KGD for nearly 2 years and before that the sterile rolled. I don't jump at wick fads (except Rayon and that was not for me) actually I kinda scoff at them - thinking they were all just repackaged KGD or something along those lines.

I'd be happily chugging along on my KGD if a local vaper didn't give me a puck of Native. Glad he did. It's beast. He also gave me some cotton sausage and I'll be passing on it - reminds me of rayon.

I hear ya. But on the other hand, when KGD became all the rage, you could either go to your local B&M and buy pads, for $1.50 - $2.00 a piece, or go online, and buy a box of 60 for $12.00.

To be honest, I don't think there's a drastic difference in any of them, whether you use drug store cotton balls, or whatever is the latest and greatest. The differences are pretty subtle. They all work. Some are just easier to work with than others. The whole idea is to use the proper amount, for whatever coil you're putting it in.

Merp. I actually experience a drastic difference between rayon and cotton, be it kgd or sterile cotton balls.

My wicks def last longer (less gunk), and rayon is ridiculously scorch resistant.

I switched from KGD to rayon. Why are people not using rayon more?

I used rayon for awhile... until I got my KGD. The reason I use KGD exclusively now is how easy it is to just cut strips and go. I pretty much coil and wick all of my attys the same way. I can pre-cut a bunch of KGD wicks and be good to go for a long time. So, convenience, I guess.

Pretty much the same here. I don't see enough of an advantage to rayon, and I don't like working with it.

I've tried all the wicking that has come down our way. My cotton ball episode was short-lived. I got a sample of rayon from a fellow Reonaut, enough to last me a year. It was good, but too fiddly for me. I tried and tried with RxW. For the life of me, I could never get that to perform the way I like, so several feet of that just sit. The along came KGD, and it was bliss. Easy to work with and quite long lasting. Every atty I have use it and I've only gone through maybe six pads. Another wick I used after cotton was a hemp fiber rope stuff. Worked quite well and lasted almost forever. But now, its all KGD and it's going to have to be something miraculous to get me to change.

InSwVa, Rule, and PDub: agreed.... I have native cotton samples that Harry sent me, I will send you a few. Personally the KGD has never done me wrong and the Native stuff was a giant failure bowl but we all do it a little differently. I tried native packed tight, loose, and just touching and no matter what I did when chain vaping I always got dry hits on puff 3.

Seems to me, my wicks last far longer and my coils tend to stay cleaner. It may be all in my mind.
It gives an early warning when to squonk. It starts to taste a little dry long before you get a burnt hit.
No juice out of the side of a Stumpy or a derringer is enough for me though.

Thanks. I am liking the non-leaking side air atty option. Hmmmm... this might even mean salvation for the freakshow mini.
