I grabbed a new ce2 xl, I cut the wick holes much larger and pulled the wick up, I then pressed the cap cover just flush with the top of the carto then put in the next ring, pushed it flush, then put on the black ring and pushed it flush, leaving enought room for air flow, idk if it is vaping good because i dripped directly on the coil before adding 1.8 mls or if this is actually working but I'm starting to like it

I'm not sure if you took a look at this thread. It's impossibly long, so I wouldn't blame you if you didn't. Just my opinion...I hated the little POSs and gave them away to someone who mods.
CE2 Tips, Reviews, Info and Help

Yes, it is a Big thread. It is really Part Two of this thread….

http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/fo...13951-e2-cartomizer-technical-discussion.html

Where as my “Big Thread” carried the discussion of the CE2’s from Revision “1” up to Revision “4”, Badkolo’s thread delas with what is considered to be the Final OEM Design. Revision “4”.

http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/fo...kers-c-e2-r4-review-tips-info-help-video.html

It would take some time to read these threads. Like ALL threads, sooner or later they start to get choked with Chat. But inside these threads is all the information needed to understand what makes a CE2 work, and not work, and how to identify specific problems and they way to overcome them.

I have meant to go back and condense my thread to a Brief Overview of the Key Concepts. Just haven’t been able to find the time.

I can understand hating the entire CE2 line. They can be frustrating. Because of their inconsistency. The first one from the pack will work Fantastic and give you the Best hit you Ever had. But the second one will be terrible and seem like it is possessed by the Devil.

They are not for people who just want to fill and vape. They take some tweaking. But Holy Flinkering Snit. When there working right they are the BEST of anything I have tried. And I have tried Everything.

-------------

I have never tried the PTB, have you and if so what did you like about it. I have seen it, but it seems like alot of trouble and dont understand the benefit.

I use PTB in Problem Cartos when enlarging the Cup Seals doesn't remedy poor wicking. Because that's what PTB or Any type of filler material does, Improves Wicking.

It real isn’t very hard to do. Perhaps the hardest part is finding a store that carries Lipton Pyramid Tea and then choosing a flavor.

Thanks for the reply. I will try it when I have a wicking problem. I have a question, after you put a tea bag along side the wicks, do you put the cap on or what do you put over the cup?? Have you ever tried just turning the cap for the cup upside down and put it back on? This keeps any restrictions away from the wick.

Glad you are starting to like it. Stay with it I sure like Mine, but I like the clearomizers better because I can see whats going on. But the clear tubes do leak after awhile other wise they would be the best (so far) of all cartomizers in my opinion. It is important to prime the wick on a new or cleaned one, this gets fluid to the coil right away and if you wait say 10 min's after you fill it, so the wick gets time to soak up it really helps. Now once it is working good you can just refill and vape right away. Hope this helps you.

This is hilarious.
You know the CE2's suck if you post that they're not working for you and all the replies you get are
"did you pop the cup?"
"Did you fluff the wick?"
My personal favorite- "Did you go buy a box of teabags and cut them and fold them perfectly and place them inside?"
That's so terrible..
"Did you do this?" "Did you do that?"
When oh when will they ever work out of the box the way they're supposed to????

Ridiculous.

I have done the "Cup Seal Flip". I didn't like it because though it did inprove wicking, I got leaking / seeping issues.

What I have found is that if a person does TWO simple things that 95% of the CE2's problems go away.

1) Enlarge the cup seals into a "V".

2) Point the battery end of you PV up slightly when vaping.

After the slots in the Cup Seal are "V-ed", I put everything back the way that it came from RS/MiT. Cup Seal, O-Ring, Mouth Piece.

Also, save all you old Cup Seals and O-Rings. They seal better when they have been exposed to e-Liquid for a time. They are also easier to take out and put back in when filling.

You know that many times if a Clearomizer tube leaks at the battery connector that pulling of the tube and flipping it over can work.

There is also Ecoglue. I'm not sure what to say about it but many are using it. Use at your own risk.

I'm not sure they will Ever will work out of the box for 100% of the people. Who said they were supposed to?

If a person will spend 5 minutes enlarging the cup seals on a box of CE2's and then they work for them, Great.
And if they are too Lazy or just don't want to fool with them, hey that's Great also.

I just don't see it as a Huge problem.

I have read hundreds of threads like the one below and 3/4 of them turn out the way this one did.

http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/fo...20-salvaging-my-clearomizers.html#post3474269

The other 1/4 the OP just get mad and chucked them in the trash. Some people just don't like to tinker with things or are no good with their hands. And that's ok to.

My only problem with ce2's is that the clearomizers are fragile and flimsy. they come off of the base too easily, and you need to handle them with kid gloves.

I've used steel ce2's out of the box, and all I had to do was rinse them off, shake them out, and give them a quick dry burn before using them. As for refils, mine don't last "X" refils, they last months, and months, and maybe a couple weeks after those months. So I have to ask... Are you vaping motor oil? That's gotta be some really thick liquid to not wick.

Second guess is that somehow the wick is damaged and the juice isn't getting to the coil because there's a cut somewhere.

I started using ce2's because some juices that I had were way too thick for the boge or ikv cartos, wouldn't settle, and when they did settle they wouldn't vape. I took those juices and put them into ce2's and they actually wicked a little too much and I got some gurgle.

It's a tough call because when they work, they work very well. I use 2.6-2.8 on a 3.4v ego, and I've used 2.8-3.0 and 2.3-2.6 in the past on ego's and the 2.4's have been the only ones I didn't like. It's definitely possible that you got a bad batch because every freaking 2.4ohm ce2 I've ever used has been bogus.

Good luck! Try the 2.8ohm steel XL's please. It's only 10 bucks, and there's really a big difference.

They'll never work out of the box the way they're supposed to, for long anyway, to many variables. I do think they should be better out of the box, especially concerning the cheap tubes on the clearos. There's is no since in the wimpy tube when a durable tube and mounting design could be used in the first place. Maybe they do it because the atty is solid and if they had a durable tube it would cut down on sales, people wouldn't need to replace them as often, I don't know but that part could easily and SHOULD come out of the box better. I'm just basing that assumption on my personal findings I purchased 10 and have used 2 in almost 3 months. If they had a durable tube and all turn out to be like the two I'm using at that rate I wouldn't need to make another purchase for aprox 15 months.

People go through this tweaking due to the potential when performing properly. I spend aprox 5 minutes and 25 cents each tweaking them out of the box by cutting the seal around the area where the wick goes and doing the BD syringe mod and that's it. I've been using 2 out of the 10 I received on 03/31/2011 and both are still performing great with periodic cleaning and dry burn which is the same cleaning routine I on other atties. I haven't touched the other 8 received in that order other than to do the syringe mod on 3 of those so they'd be ready when needed. I'm happier with them far more than any carto I've used and if the two I'm currently using give up the ghost today that's still averaging close to 6 weeks per carto.

Some people find doing enhancements ridiculous and some who get them working correctly are happy with the results, there will be some that are never happy with it no matter what they do.

How often do you clean and dryburn your Xl ce2's and how do you clean it? being you can't pull off the shell on the ce2?? I would like to know because I know that with the metal it doesn't leak or crack so they do indeed last alot longer than the clearo's. So PLEASE let us know how you do it. THANKS

Depends on the juice with me. I've got some juices that I get maybe two fills with before it needs cleaning and some light colored juices I can get umm well above that, somewhere around 7 - 10 refills. You'll learn when it needs it.

I use the clearos, clean and dry burn them with the tube on. You can dry burn them with the tubes on, the heat does build up more so you have to be a little careful. I usually go around 10 second burns and let it cool a little in between until the coil glows evenly and the gunk has burned off the wick.

I clean it the way you'd clean a standard filler carto. 1-2min under a piping hot sink, shake it out, blow it out, let it dry for a couple hours. Then I put it on a manual battery and dry burn it until it stops smoking. Sometimes after that dry burn there's still carbon residue on there so I need to scrape it off with a toothpick and rinse it again, let it dry further and then fill it.

How often depends on the juice. Thinner PG juices last forever, but thicker and or darker juices gunk up the coil more quickly and require a dry burn more often. I use the thicker juices in a 3.5ml storm tank so using that as a comparison 2 full fills (7ml) requires a rinse and dry burn. The regular ce2's I clean when the taste and performance fades, or if I want to change flavors. Usually adds up to 3 dry burns a month per carto.

I've yet to have a ce2 of any type die of natural causes. My clearo tubes all cracked long before the element died, or I broke the wick, or cracked the ceramic cup. All of the 5-pack of steel ce2's that I bought back in the beginning of may are still going strong, and I have a 5-6 carto rotation, but I use some more than others.

I do have to run them under the hot sink and dry burn until the coil gets red hot before I fill them the first time. If I don't, the first fill tastes like primer. No other modding is required for me on the thick wick steel ce2's.

PS: I get them from Clouds of vapor, 2.6-2.8ohm, and they have a "microcig" label on them, as opposed to a royal smoker one or none at all.

Thank you for the information. Just wondering why don't you take off the clear tube on the clearomizers?? They do dry quicker because you can squeeze the wick with a paper towel and let set for a hour and they are ready to dry burn. My clearo's also last a long time.

Thanks for telling me how to do it. I will do it they way you told me the next time my CE2 needs cleaning. It looks like you have it under control and good for you. I really like the CE2 and Clearomizers and they do last longer than any carto's I have used.

I've did it both ways, it's a personal preference. I do the BD Syringe mod and I'm cheap haha. I want as little wear on the base of the tube as possible so I just leave the tube on till it's time to move it to another carto. If you squeeze a paper towel on the wick it does speed up the process but after a dry burn the atty has pulled all the water from the wick anyway or it wouldn't glow, so it's dry. Just depends on what works best for you, everyone has their own little routine.

in the long run ce2's are worth it when they work. There will be some duds, but for the most part they are (by far) the best tasting cartos out there at 3.2-3.7v. Plus the various ce2 based tank mods are freakin awesome (storm tank, map tank, NHaler VPX, and Goodprophets SSR).

Yes, some of them can ABSOLUTELY be a pain in the ..., and some juices SUCK in ce2's, but eh. Still worth it.
