Sitting down, facing forward.
They're pretty durable, but I don't think they were built to survive that!

I have found a disadvantage to usng a small brush on the atomizer to clean it. The wick seems actually a little brittle or becomes brittle from use, constant heating and cooling. What happens is that the wick disappears, so I've got to try something different. A clean coil with no wick isn't much good at all. I don't think I'm steady enough to re-wick them although it is a thought. I may try using denture cleaner on them, that stuff takes out coffe stains with no problem so maybe it'll work on the coil and wick without killing them. I'mm have to make sure to use the non "fresh minty taste" variety and flush them really clean after I'm done, assuming it works.

When I was in my 20's I was building something, don't remember what, and when I droe the final nail, the main support split, making the whle project useless. I got really "upset" and threw the hammer down on the concrete driveway I was standing on. Keep in mind this was a 26oz framing hammer with a ling fiberglass handle. The hammer hit the driveway and the head went one way and the handle went another way. I stood there, totally frustrated, ofr a minute, then decided never to let something get to me like that again. Besides having to rebuild whatever it was from scratch, again, I had to go buy another thirty dollar hammer again. Too expensive getting that "upset".

The things I use the sledge are stuff that are at the end of their useful life. Like the toaster my wife kept telling me I was using it wrong. Now how can I possible use a toaster wrong? Its is usually frustrating then to keep messing around with and would not be cost effective to get it repaired when a newer one would in most cases be cheaper.

I generally solve the issue by smashing it to pieces. It is easier to throw in the trash that way too. We recently had 3-5 TVs that were collecting dust in our basement. We called a home for boys to see if they wanted them. This place will come and carry them up from the basement and take them away. Considering some of these where some monsters and I really didn't want to carry them up by myself.. we had them come out. They took all but one. It was much easier to smash and carry than trying to carry the whole thing up. So there is typically a method to the madness.

Still I would manage to salvage usefull parts and throw or recycle the rest of it.

I generally take out the memory, the battery and anything else I feel could be useful. If I don't keep it myself, I give it away to a non profit place that fixes computer for churches and schools (my favorite is crayons to computers). They really don't want the cases anymore and the computers I have are all old ones that I have recycled and made to work.

A 10 dollar toaster is just that. It worked for a few years. The TV's were all old tech so nothing really salvageable there to me. If a charity won't accept there isn't much use for it. Besides I got too many pieces already in my workroom.
