Guys, based on all of your input, I think I see a light at the end of this tunnel...at present Wakonda is tasting better to me than it has in a LONG TIME...and I'm really trying to not get too happy but...

Here's the thing Thundernoggin...when I load up a maxVG into a PT2 with one of my micro coils and cotton wick, it vapes and tastes great. haven't had a burnt hit off the NZ coolcucumber mint I vape with my partner. but on any with more like a 50/50 ratio, which seems a norm for a lot of his 12-18mg juices, i have this problem. cap has always been down, everything tight on the maxVG.

but flipping the cap and loosening the base to the tank has improved my Wakonda so much, i just may rewick one of my microcoils I set aside for the stock one to go into my SN tank and try it with SN later. I will, per Meg's input, tighten my coilhead to the base, and keep the base to the tank snug but not too tight. is a good way to do this, to tighten it well, then loosen it by one notch or so? how best to do this to ensure no leaking?

another input that might help legitimize the airflow component...whenever i've been taking a "long drag" (4 seconds or more--i know--not long, kind of what it should be) i got that taste EVERYTIME. I've been hitting it more like a cig to minimize the strange taste.

it may all be coming together, but who knows...

The thing that puzzles me is when I say 100% VG I mean something like TVK which is closer to syrup. MaxVG Nicoticket is still around 80% and thusly a little thinner, and the fruity ones thinner yet. It just seems strange to me that the thinner liquids have this problem while the thicker ones do not. It took a while to get TVK working right in a Protank because some of it is so thick that it was constantly airlocked dry hits.

Yeah, I'm right there with you. I have some 100% VG juices that are bad in the PT but all of NT's juices, even max VG, are fine...

weeeel then I may not be as close to understanding my problem as i thought, lol  but for now my Wakonda is doing great...I've been waaaaay tightening that base to the tank, that alone may have helped a lot. or the cap - not sure which but i like the result so far

Yeah, sorry I didn't ask about that. I originally started doing that as the MVP's firing pins were getting shoved into the body and giving troubles for firing anything. It makes sense though as it would increase the flow of air into your atty.

Oh and my wick was acting up so I re-wicked and made sure to trim the wick close to the wall. That has been hit or miss for me as I never paid attention to it and the two coils giving me fits over the last week both had too much tail left on the end of the wick. ;)

I think cranking the base to the tank bulges out the cup and cuts off flow.

Absolutely. The air flows through the little holes down past the end of the base (and through that bulging rubber insulator if you've tightened too much), then up the air flow hole through the positive pin.

Ive been messing with this stuff for a couple days now. Im not so sure Im getting any better flavor from it. In fact, in my KFL+'s, it seems to mute the flavor. In a dripper it seems about the same as cotton or KGD. It wicks better than cotton or KGD and like others have said, tastes clean from the get go. I put it in a mini PT2 and got a burnt hit on the second pull, hit it a few times without firing and it went back to wicking properly. The jury is still out as far as Im concerned but Im gonna mess with it some more before I give up.

I got the muted from my KF's too. I went back to ReadyXWick on those

Under/over wicking a KF with the Rayon (well, any coil, but it seems more pronounced in my KF's) will give you the muted flavor or dry hits. "They say" it is easier to work with, but you have to eradicate what you know about cotton.

Enough rayon firmly touches the coil all around, pulls with friction, but still pulls without distoring the coil. Cut it to where the end touches the deck, don't leave it long enough to lay across the deck. Juice it and more or less pin it against the side of the coil mount. Juice channels should be completely open, no wick across or near.

To me, it isn't easier to work with consistently. I could cut the same width off a Shiseido pad and get the same wicking as before. But, when you hit it right, it is noticeably better. I say this about a third of the way through the best delivery of CLS ever, and after enjoying Radioactive through two full KF tanks.

Meg - close to the wall, as in, short enough to not really tuck much down into the base?

Meaning when you screw the head into the base there is only tiny tufts of wick touching the bottom head holder...not one side a nice trimmed end and the other side a wad of cotton you have to stuff in after you screw the head in. I hope that makes sense...

I think so...best to trim before putting the head into the base, eh, to get closer? I'll try this next time.

gotta say I just rewicked a head I was having trouble with earlier with CB and Naki's Blend...cap upside down, base into tank snug but not too tight...put it in my tank with Strawnilla. OHMAN. OH MAN :D I think you guys have changed my life time and time again!!!

Hey just found this thread and all of you nice overstocked people, and all I have is cotton and silica.
Could someone send me a clump, I'd be happy to send a stamp or three and a thank you note back?

You will easily have 10 people wanting SASE's so they can send you a small pile.

I'm gunna admit I did something crazy. I am using the halcyon yarn rayon in a kfl and I put at least 9ml thru it over two weeks, the flavor went off so I took it apart and the coil was caked solid with gunk but the wick was clean! No darkness or funk! I just twisted it out of the coil, burned off the coil and put the same wick back in for giggles. Still tastes great, but I won't do it again, I've got to use this stuff up somehow.

This post was found in an ancient ruin, probably left by aliens.

I think that is the hardest part about this stuff. Pick up 500 feet and only use a foot a year.
