Awesome post, thank you!

I'm not concerned about the setup, it's very similar it seems to my Odysseus and Penelope, I love that I can use materials I already have for this. I'm sold now I think lol, time to get a chalice!

you crack me up...i just read your sig,lol

lol, I like the fact that the coil is right at the bottom of the atomiser as seen here:
REVIEW OF THE CHALICE 2 REPAIRABLE ATOMISER FOR ELECTRONIC CIGARETTES - YouTube
Would be perfect for a bottomfed mod IMO

For the time being I have an A7 rba which I have yet to try, but the juice well in it looks massively deep, so I'm a little worried about it not wicking up my 100% VG juice quick enough. I can't wait for the Chalice 2 :) Seeing it will probably be the last atomizer I buy for ages, makes the price seem worthwhile. Here in oz we pay $5-$7 for 510 and 306 atties plus shipping :/ I spend about $40 a month on atties and at the moment, atties are my most expensive expendibles in vaping. Looking forward to only having to replace the coils and wicks which seems more economical.

I have a Chalice II and I love it to death. Great vape, easy to build, nice and clean. I'll buy another when they're available again.

My only gripe - and it's a teeny one - is that yes, the juice goes back down the tube if you oversquonk, but you have to let go of the bottle gradually to get all the juice back down - if you just yank your finger off the bottle, the suction pulling the juice back in will be too strong and you'll get air mixed in, which keeps some of the extra juice in the floor of the atomizer. That little air pocket kills off the suction and you'll end up with a couple of bubbly hits before you hit the optimal saturation point again.

In summary: AWESOME RBA, would absolutely buy again at full retail.

the A7 works OK after you clean out all that machine oil and rebuild the wick with thicker silica just make sure there is plenty in the well. I have one on my VVW using a 90VG/10PG and I have no issues with wicking my only gripe is it really tall

How'd you get your hands on one? I didn't know the Chalice 2's had gone on sale already.
Price?

The Chalice 1 and 2 were sold at the same time. Only difference is the design of the top piece. 1 and 2 was a choice of design. 2 isn't a revised model. If that's what you were thinking. :)

Price at the time I bought was $150.

DrMagick, the first run of the Chalice had options 1 and 2. They were just two different styles of the first run Chalices. He does not mean V2 or the second run. I, too, have a Chalice II that I got back when....during the first (and only) run. I think I heard that they're going to have more sometime in November.....keep your eyes on the site. I signed up for the newsletter, so hopefully I'll get wind of when the next ones are available.

BTW, they are absolutely the best rebuildable I've tried so far, hands down. I'll probably get one more when they come out again.

EDIT: OOPS....house mouse beat me to it....should have kept reading... :)

Awesome! Thanks for clearing that up :)
I got an email from Dragos@MarkBugs, and he said they expect to have more stock in November. Nearly there ;)
The way he worded his email made me think the up coming Chalice was new or upgraded, lol, I'll paste the email below, anyone know what he means by "upgraded?:

Hi Kevin,

We hope to have it back on stock in November, this will be an upgraded
product
... the price of the first Chalice was 150$ ( free shipping and free
Paypal fee).
The price for the second batch it will be close to that but we do not know
exactly.

Thank you,
Dragos

Chiner, I have a Chalice, an ERA, and an A7. All are bottom fed. I use a 510 to 510 adapter for even my REO Grand. With the adapter, I can use all the above on all my bottom fed mods. You can also hear the gurgle of a squonk.
The only thing I like better about the Chalice, is the type of screws used. On the Chalice, I don't need a wrench, I just use a finger nail, it makes it easier to retighten them after a bit of use. The screws d have a tendency to loosen up at times.
As for performance I don't see much difference in the three.

Still satisfied with my Chalice II*. *Denotes style change, not version. My only gripe with it is that sometimes the airhole isn't oriented properly on some of the coils, so I have had to give it a half turn to get the airhole where it needs to go.
Cool, I learned that I have to build the coil a certain way for the airhole to line up the best.

I build with it on my REO and I know were the hole lines up each time so I iknow to go to the right of the top post and left of the bottom post in a zig zag .... that way the coil/wick is right over the juice hole and the air hole is as close as its going to get to the coils .... does that make any sense ??

I posted this because you said "sometimes" its not lined up properly. The airhole stops exactly the same place so it should be either every time or never if you build your coil the same direction each time.

Yes, sometimes I've been able get a nice vape without loosening the top part just to get the airhole on the other side. I will try coiling in the way you have described. Hopefully this will solve that minor issue.

Makes sense to me I do the same thing

I use a vertical wick setup, with the wick standing upright between the two posts - one leg of the wire goes into the hole, the other leg wrapped around the screw and tightened in (a modified version of this method). This keeps the coil an equal distance from the airhole no matter where the airhole is situated, and it hits like a monster every time.

Sure ... Gotta be different Dave :) I tried the vertical mesh coil once and it was pretty good. Might revisit that soon but I have enough genesis devices now to feed my mesh wick needs at the moment.
