I've made so many purchases over the last two weeks, it's nearly impossible to nail which one. I have an idea which it might be, based on comparing notes with all the folks that have PM'd me  but could be totally wrong. I am sure it's a processor out there somewhere and not just a particular website. Definitely not worth saying I won't purchase from a particular site anymore..just going to start being smarter about using something prepaid like I used to but got lazy about. Setab the only site we have in common on your three you listed is Nicoticket, but my purchase from them was AFTER my fraudulent charge, so it just goes to show it must be a processor. It may not even have been a vape related purchase.

Sigh..my two sons are so flippant about their accounts..one can't even be bothered to go set up online banking. He is 20 years old so of course nothing bad can actually happen to HIM  I guess if he gets nailed he'll be cured of that, eh?

There's another 8 page thread about this. Would be great if mods can merge them. I got hit to for 9.84. It's big and likely a credit card processor for hacked. Google 9.84 credit card scam.

Its actually better its not merged and is seen in different area's

and gets seen by as many people as possible
I know there has been at least 1 person who caught it early because of this thread

thank you

I agree that it's good that they aren't merged. I didn't see that thread at all, but found out by reading the Ahlusion thread. The more places it is, the more people that might see it. I'm irritated that I am without my card, but really really glad a couple of others out there caught problems on theirs too before the problems were disasters. Thanks to the other guy who posted a thread too!! In fact, I can't remember his name offhand but I'm pretty sure his post in the Ahlusion thread is what sent me off to go check my own account. He has a very orange avatar, I do remember that :D

This may also be helpful. I've recently purchased from MBV, AIV, and Nicoticket.

Not helpful. Credit card fraud doesn't come from directly from the place you shopped at on line. It comes from data breaches all along the way as that data gets transmitted from your computer to the credit card transaction processing centers. MBV, AIV or Nicoticket never even see your CC number - all they see is a transaction code and a dollar amount credited to their account. If they get into a transaction processing center and start stealing data you are at risk for a card breach before you even get a chance to use it - ask me how I know that one. Pointing fingers at retailers when you know nothing is speculative at best and libelous to the businesses for no reason.

Target gets what's coming to them - can't wait to see their next two quarterly profit reports - for storing unnecessary credit card data on transactions for extended periods of time. And having crappy security protocols too. In case you missed it this is being reported as the second largest theft of credit card data to date. Doubt MBV, AIV or Nicoticket had anything to do with it...

Agreed...the other on line groups that are discussing this don't seem to have a common denominator as far as where the cards that were affected were used, and many are not Target shoppers at all. This is something different, going on for the last several days in fact.

I found another small thread talking about it and the first one that posted was hit on December 4. I can't believe they've been doing this scam for 3 weeks and the credit card companies haven't caught on.

Guys this is very widespread and NOT just restricted to people that buy vaping supplies online. After I saw the warning in another thread I checked all our accounts and we are fine. TWO of my Brother in Laws though have each been hit and neither is a vaper (or smoker for that matter).

MBNA told one of them it is a huge racket they think. The small charge is to test for a good number. The number is then sold off and the larger purchases will start appearing.

This kind of thing can happen at any time. Keep a sharp eye on those statements...ALWAYS.

Only reason I wanted it merged is to demonstrate the many people affected by it. By having multiple threads with 8 people here and 5 there the effect of how widespread this is gets lost.

I do agree the more threads there are the better in terms of awareness. Maybe a sticky within the post with a link to the main thread?

I just joined the club as usual. Called my bank and am getting a new card. I told the fraud lady that this is a common occurrence right now. She said it's the first she's hearing of it so I told her to google it on the internet. Wonder how many people don't even notice since it's such a small card around the time when it is a little harder for is to track our purchases

May I ask which online vendors you've been shopping with lately? Is it certain websites that were compromised?

I know that Target shoppers are at risk right now, as hundreds of thousands of credit card numbers were compromised due to security issues.

Its much larger than any individual vendor. I've never shopped at Target so I know mine didn't come from there. At first we thought it was just Visa but then there were reports of Mastercard being charged, too. The largest forum talking about it is on Amazon here:

Amazon.com General Help Forum

The first posting I've found about it is dated December 4! I can't believe that banks and CC companies didn't know about this before. In this day and age you'd think they would monitor this stuff instead of leaving it up to the consumer.

They charged my card twice for $9.84. Luckily I have a notification setup to alert me of any international charges made on my account. My backup CC is setup to notify me of any charges since I don't use it or monitor it.

I keep checking on it since I hope we'll find out what happened. And since I had to cancel my CC I just placed an order using my debit card. Watching to see if it gets hit, too!

That's the bad part, my husband and I don't use debit cards at all anymore because we got hit to the tune of around $3500 a couple of years ago and it takes longer to get your money back when someone goes on a shopping spree with your debit card than your credit card, but now because of this we are without a cc and are using the debit until we get new cards, make me nervous! When I called chase regarding the $9.84 charges on Christmas Eve they told me that the websites that the charges were supposedly coming from didn't even exist they just randomly throw a bunch of letters in front of .com and try putting the charges through.

I got hit this morning. Haven't shopped at Amazon for months and never shopped at Target.

This is the first time I've ever been hit in 15 years of shopping online.

Sadly, may not even be on line purchases, some folks saying their household shopping cards have been hit.
