Marlou - like your sugar on the French Toast idea. Hubby loves his slathered with powder sugar.

JoAnne - Hope the knees are feeling better now that you are up and moving a little. Is the weather still bad?

Wabbit and Tail - DIY adventures. Good time!

SandySu - That is hysterical about the "stuffing" inside your cloth bag.

The pets are fed and it is left over pizza with asparagus on the side for dinner. Hubby is going to have to bring in the wood today. He's going to be home on the weekend for a change but then he has to go to Seattle for 4 days and when he gets home they want him to work his regular schedule so 8 days without a day off.

This will be the first time he has gone out of town without me in ages. The last time he went elk hunting in December about 5 years ago. He took his dad along. After trudging through snow for several days and having ice building up inside their sleeping bags, they decided to call it quits and come home. He said the elk had no problem going for miles in the snow but he sure was working his buns off. He never got close to them and then they turned and waved as they went over the top of a mountain:) He followed his tracks back to camp where his dad said "Son, this isn't living, this is survivng."

Thanks Lizzie, I probably did mix the M Type too strong but I will let it steep and mix another batch at 5% to test it out. I may also have to remix my Cinnamon Danish at a much lower percent and test it again.

It couldn't hurt to try that Cinnmaon Danish at a lower percentage. I read that thing about going too strong on the DIY forum. Oddly, many people said that once you hit really high percentages [which I think can vary from company to company] the flavor actually recedes. I have no idea why.

The M type is the one where people are actually putting couple of drops in 10 ml. That seems ridiculous but I am going to try lowering mine to 3% just to see if there is a real difference in flavor:)

Sitting down, facing forward.
Any gorilla glue users out here? I just picked some up. I've never used it before. I'm wanting to use it to cover some holes up on my T3. It says to wipe it with water first??? If anyone has used this on T3's, can you help a confused gal out? Thank you!

I used Lizzie's recipe on her blog. I used TFA cinn danish.

I assume, and you know what that does, that you bought the thick version of Gorilla glue. I just take the whole top of the bottle of glue and use a toothpick to pick up a small drop and deposit it on the hole. That stuff really sticks and I've never wiped with water before using it, just made sure things are clean. I do usually give theT3 a quick wipe with an alcohol swab just to be sure there's no residual machine oil on it, but that's it.

American Spirits would burn slower and I'd always be the last smoker to put their cigarette out. My old favorite was Marlboro Lights. I noticed if I chained smoked them I'd always get a headache. But not with Am Spirits. I really think those chemicals play havoc with your system especially when trying to quit. What scares me is that a BT company bought American Spirits and I've always been leery that they were going to slip some of their chemicals in.

Great story on your pouch! That tickled me! :)

I use to smoke American Spirit, too, it was pretty good tobacco....till I had to go cheaper - rolled my own - it had to do, couldn't afford it anymore.

And Sandy Su your pouch story tickled me, too!!!

No snow so far... just rain/sleet lightly falling but still cold with temps to drop low 20's overnight.

I've been doing laundry, cleaning glass, vacuuming and other household things... up and down steps, no real pain. I will remember to take a couple of Advil before going to bed tonight though. Overnight seems to be the problem time. I don't understand that one. Another thing I noticed... I have to wear loose sweatpants. Jeans don't have enough "give" across the knees when I sit down. Not painful but any form of tightness seems to cause an uncomfortable pressure. I hope I didn't chip any bones...

I think why your knees hurt more at night is because you aren't moving them so much, and they stiffen up. I'm no expert, so who knows why? Could it be the position they're in when you sleep? You could always experiment with different positions and see if it helps.

We have some sort of weather blowing in here. I hear the wind chimes jangling, and when I went out to get the mail, there were tiny, icy balls of snow/ice falling. And tomorrow, no matter what the weather, I have to go to the barn early to meet the hoof trimmer. Everyone send vibes that it's bearable -- not too cold and not bad driving on the roads.

Thanks Awsum. There are different gorilla glues? I was in Home Depot and bought a 2fl bottle that bonds all sorts of things. I read the directions and I assume it is for bonding to wet the surface. I didn't know if it needed to be wet just to plug up some holes or not.

I was using rubber cement but I ran out.

For you impatient steepers out there, here's a little update on my newest toy - http://www.harborfreight.com/ultrasonic-cleaner-3305.html . I put in 3 bottles of various juices that I've been steeping. I found a recipe for cowboy that said to let it steep for at least 3 weeks. I noticed a significant color change within an hour of this thing being in the ultrasonic cleaner. I found out about this via this thread: http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/fo...eeping-times-ultrasonic-cleaner-part-iii.html

Some of the candy stuff doesn't need any steeping - like Lizzie's cinnamon danish recipe. But for those tobacco ones, this thing takes weeks off that time.

Will say prayers for you east coast people. We got a touch of it today....we were on the top edge of it I guess. Only a couple inches here today...at least where I was. I think other parts of MI got more.

Here's a Joan Baez song I liked back in the '60s, but this is a modern version because I admire so much how she still looks good and sings as well as back in the old days. I saw her at a big concert in Oakland, CA, and it might have been this one. Joan Baez sings There but for Fortune by Phil Ochs at Amnesty International mtg - YouTube

I related to this song because when it came out, I was working for a summer at a state mental institution. It was very depressing, but also an experience that was life-changing. I began to realize that there wasn't much difference between me and the patients, except that I had a white uniform, carried a clutch of keys, and could carry matches or a lighter to light the patients' cigarettes.

This evening, I was thinking of it again, because in so many ways, we think we have it bad till we see someone else much worse off. I was reading an article in a horse magazine, Equus, about protective vests to wear while riding. The author wears one now after some devastating horse accidents. The first accident was a doozy. She was riding in a wilderness area on the north rim of the Grand Canyon when her horse spooked and ran away with her through trees, finally throwing her into the trunk of a tree. She suffered internal injuries and had to be airlifted by helicopter out of the area, and then -- then! -- the helicopter crashed! Talk about adding insult to injury! In comparison to that, my injury seems so minor.

I'm not sure I'll get a protective vest for riding, though I do wear a helmet. Still, even if I had worn a vest, it wouldn't have helped my arm. The vests are expensive and uncomfortable. I do like the idea of the ones that self-inflate like an airbag, though. Such a neat concept. There's a cord attaching the vest to the horse's saddle, and if you fall off, that connection is broken, and the vest inflates. The problem with this is that so many riders have forgotten to disconnect the cord before dismounting, and the canisters of CO2 that inflate the vest are a one-shot deal and cost about $20, according to the article, so forgetting to disconnect the cord can be an expensive mistake. Anyway, riding vests and their ins and outs isn't the issue I wanted to address; it's the idea that no matter how awful and depressing life may seem, it could be worse.

Oops! JoAnn, I forgot to thank you for the French toast. I love that stuff.

My grandmother used to sprinkle granulated sugar on it as soon as she took it out of the skillet, so it melted into the toast a bit. That's still my favorite topping but now I use Splenda. The problem with Splenda is if you breathe on it, it blows all over the place.
Giggles - You'll just have to use the real thing ... and add more butter! :D

If you aren't eating tons of an item, I don't think things are generally bad for you and I think fake butter and fake food is often worse.
Well said ...

I agree, that these natural substances are probably better for you than prescription drugs. Natural doesn't always mean safe, but in this case, I think it's safer, and maybe even perfectly safe as well as effective.
... the tough part about natural stuff is ... they can't figure out how much is lethal - the requirement to get a drug approved ... just saying ...

Well - totally surprised those Am. Spirits have been around that long. Never saw them ... but I wonder how many other brands went un-noticed ... When one has their favorite I guess some of us don't look any further ...

JoAnn - wish I'd bought a couple too! Funny - I knew I'd had purple clip ... didn't know what I'd done with it so I picked up the bigger one in that picture and thought the other was a lighter weight ... the next day I noticed the smaller one in a crock with some pens - a key hanging on it ... dah! Hubby had borrowed it ...

Thanks for the story Mr. Wabbit! That was cute! saved in my ECF humor file (just started one!) ...

OH! Mr. Wabbit ... could you please clarify your RY4 recipe? 2% TFA???? I thought that was the flavoring brand ...
Thank you! Feeling inspired to get more serious about DIYing. I have 3 / 6 and 12 mil syringes; several random flavorings for tweaking ready mades, some misc empty bottles of varing sizes 3 ml - 15 and of course the 30ml empties from SI! Nic base 18 and 20 gage needles ... Eye droppers - label maker ... pretty close to being ready ...

My truck is buried under about 4' of drifted snow, and I cannot even open my back door due to the deep drifts. I needed groceries, so I grabbed my insulated hunting gear (I don't care how silly I look- that stuff is WARM!) and my backpack, and made the 1.5 mile trek into town, got my stuff, and walked the 1.5 miles back home.

I'm only about a week or so out from quitting analogs, but BOY could I really tell the difference! No more wheezing and gasping for air; yeah I was panting, but that's because I was too hot, not because I was hypoxic/oxygen-deprived. I can only imagine just how much easier my hikes will be later this fall, as during hunting season it's not uncommon for me to walk several miles (with 50+lbs of gear) every day. Oh, and no more rotten cig smoke to spook game, either! :)

You go girl.

When Hubby goes hunting, I like waiting at the truck:) Just leave the keys honey and tell me where you want me to pick you up at.

Sometimes I hike around a little:) Maybe I'll do better at hiking too.

Since I hunt alone, getting in better shape can only do me good. Last year, I was so pitifully winded that I could hardly trudge a few hundred yards over flat, open rangeland. When I got my deer, lugging his heavy carcass (he fell into a shallow ravine when he died) up/out/back to the truck dang nearly gave me a stroke. This year, the game plan changes! :D

LOL! Farmgirl! That was a little trek! Curious - are those hunting clothes from the mens line or a womens???
I'm SO disappointed. Last year bought a Berne coat ... mens ... really like it because it's warm. THis year I spied a blue and thot that would be nice for "town" - bummer - it is not as warm as the mens ...

I bow hunted w/ hubby the first 2 years ... but I'm a wuss ... below 68 - I'm freezing if I don't keep moving ... Sigh - I'll join Lizzie!
Your pic reminds me of a classmate! Any relatives in southern minnesota? btw - my neighbor is originally from NW Kansas - Oberland? Overland - something like that ...

You didn't say - did you climb out a window to scoop the door free? We ended up with 4 inches of fluff ... SO PRETTY - sparkling in the light!
