Thanks for the coffee, Joanne. French toast? Yeah!!!!!!!!!

Hope the knees get better. Sometimes, when you know you are going to be sore, you can make sure you take an ibuprofen or aspirin before you go to bed. Pro active pain management.

Well, have to clean a house today. Not feeling 100% myself. I'm wondering if I got food poisoning from eating out yesterday. Just four hours of cleaning and I can come home. If I leave at 8 I can be home by 2pm. First and last time for that restaurant.

Have a great day, Volties.

I'm sorry to hear you're not feeling well, too, Lizzie. Are you sure it was the food? Is your husband sick, too? You are brave to still go to work when you aren't feeling well. I hope it passes quickly.

Good Morning Volties! Rise and Shine!! :) Coffee's on and some french toast is coming up.

It's a cold and dreary morning today with a freezing rain/snow coming later today. Not feeling my best lately... As much as I hate to admit it, I believe I will have to visit my doctor shortly. My knees have been giving me a fit, very tender to the touch. I'm not having a problem walking around and they are not keeping from doing anything, but very painful during the night. Maybe I just have to give it more time.

You should see your doctor about the pain in your knees to find out what is causing it. My knee pains turned out to be arthritis and while it can't be cured, the pain can be helped and there are supplements for the joints. My doctor put me on Celebrex, but I was afraid of it and stopped using it. Now I use over-the-counter supplements with good results.

Until you go to the doctor you could use an ointment for pain. The kind with capsaicin in it works great.

Sitting down, facing forward.
Am I the only one getting fed up with Pristorius/Steenkamp? It certainly a shame, but there really isn't anything to report that's Earth shattering or changes the way the world works until the actual trial. The media says "it has captured the attention of the world", guess I'm in another world.

I made the mistake of ordering the potato salad and the green beans. I didn't finish either of the sides since it was a kind of potato salad I didn't like and the green beans with bacon were mushy. He ordered waffle fries and onion tangles. Pretty sure it was the food. He didn't feel great but I feel crappy [take that literally if you want to:)] He has been wanting to try this restaurant for ages.

Oops! JoAnn, I forgot to thank you for the French toast. I love that stuff.

My grandmother used to sprinkle granulated sugar on it as soon as she took it out of the skillet, so it melted into the toast a bit. That's still my favorite topping but now I use Splenda. The problem with Splenda is if you breathe on it, it blows all over the place.

Are the supplements you take chondroitin and glucosamine? Those seem to work well in conjunction.

I'm sorry to hear your knees are bothering you. Do you know what's causing it? Arthritis?

French toast sounds like a good idea. Maybe I'll make some for myself. Thanks for the inspiration.

I've only had this problem since I fell on Valentine's Day. I fell getting out of my car, right down on my knees. Maybe I just have to give it more time.

That's about a week ago. I think at least you should be feeling some improvement by now. If it's not feeling better than it did about 3 days ago, you might want to see a doctor, have x-rays, etc. At least call and see if the doctor thinks you should give it more time, though I know they'll just say to come in so they can look at it.

I don't normally have any problems like that. Only since my fall. At first, they were very bruised and swollen along with being painful. Now the swelling has gone down but just these last couple of days, they hurt while I'm sleeping. Last night the pain woke me up and I had to get up to take something. Right now, they don't feel too bad, the Advil kicked it.

Talking about eating out... that has not been agreeing with me lately either. I certainly hope you don't have food poisoning. It's a shame you have to be so leery about eating at a restaurant that you've never been to before. I've lost my desire to try new places to eat because of that.

I think if it's feeling worse lately, yes, you should go to the doctor. They will probably look at it and say to go to an osteopath. Why do we have to pay a doctor to do this? Why can't we just go to the specialist right away? It makes no sense.

Of course with today being Friday, I'll see how it goes over the weekend. If no improvement by Monday, I may give him a call. I hesitate because my health insurance use to cover 100% for x-rays and other tests. Now it covers 90% and we are responsible for paying the 10%... even routine blood tests. These "small" costs quickly add up.

Right now I'm taking Osteo Bi-Flex, which contains glucosomine and chondroitin, but also other supplements that are good for arthritis. I get better results with this more complete supplement than with just the glucosmine and chondroitin.

Gads, I feel pretty stupid. I didn't connect your knee pain with the fall you took. Sandy's advice is good, at least call your doctor and tell him about the fall and the pain you're still having.

You know, the warnings signs were there. The potato salad didn't seem icy cold to me. [Food should be either hot or cold] There was a large sign on the meat warming oven to clean thoroughly including taking the pans out. [It isn't rocket science to clean thoroughly and that kind of signage can mean poor training.] The beans were so mushy I was wondering if they were from yesterday or even the day before. The people looked very unhappy to be working there.

We should have asked for our money back but since Hubby has been saying how good the food was at his job when they a catered meeting, I just shut up and tried to see if I liked it. I have left restaurants before ordering if I thought they looked poorly run.

Turns out his company catered that meal all the way from the Reno restaurant. Now we know why!

Sometimes I think I am paranoid about food. On the way home we decided that maybe the food hadn't agreed with us but it was okay until about 5 hours after eating and I had to run for the house. My gut is still rumbling and burning but so far it looks like I will live. I'm going with toast with honey for breakfast.

Poor thing, Joanne, you took quite a tumble. More than likely you are just healing up still since it has only been 8 days. The swelling is going down so that is good. Obviously, at some point, if it keeps bothering you, you can head to the doctor.

Unfortunately, chondroitin and glucosamine didn't do a thing for me and I stopped wasting my money after 6 months of giving it a chance:)

I have to do the real sugar. No substitute for me on french toast. It's something that I don't have very often but when I do, it's got to be real... real butter too! Hubby likes his with maple syrup.

Interesting. Are you taking the kind with the boswellia extract, 5-Loxin? I've heard that MSM is very effective, too. (I just looked it up, so that's how I know what's in the different mixes.) Bill takes the basic chondroitin & glucosamine supplement, and he seems to do well on it, but I wonder if this one would be better. Can you buy it in your grocery store, or do you have to order it online?

I agree -- real stuff for me, too. If it isn't that good for me, I just try to limit how much I consume. I sometimes wonder if the chemical substitutes for things like butter and sugar aren't even worse for you.

If you aren't eating tons of an item, I don't think things are generally bad for you and I think fake butter and fake food is often worse.
