Do you notice that the landlords painted the sidewalk? I chose green for the bench and chair, so they would blend in. So they repainted the sidewalk red which contrasts with the bench and chair. He got a bit of red on the bench, and I got paint remover residue on it too, so I am going to have to repaint that.
Red sidewalk??

That is a part of their cultural heritage, I guess.
Sounds like something my neighbors would do! They put artificial grass on their front porch!?! Looks very tacky! Of course, they still have their decorations out for every holiday you can think of! I'm disgusted by them, as they've enclosed their porch and put a flag on the side to cover one section of the bottom, instead of finishing off the skirting. They put 1/3 of the flag on the front side and the rest of the flag is facing us!
Good morning volties and a happy 4th of July! I hope the Americans on this thread have their flags out waving on this glorious day!
This is day one of the full on renovation office project. I have a couple of baseboards to remove, then I have to prep for painting. I finally made the decision to throw away the chair that was in here since my dog house guests a few months ago decided to use it as a toilet. I didn't want to buy furniture, but this is giving me the opportunity to do so. The dump pile is growing and I'll have to rent a little uhaul to get it all out of here!
I hope everyone has a great day. I have pandora on, listening to jazz while I work. I'll be on later. Enjoy your BBQ's or whatever you're doing today!
Our flag staff is broken, unfortunately. Hubby hasn't taken the time to fix it in the many years since it broke. Hope you had a good time with your project, Tail! Pandora can be nice to listen to! I usually use iHeartRadio on my cell phone or XBOX 360. Have a great night!
"The Host" was a great book but I haven't seen the movie. I read the "Twilight" series as well. The movies were just ok. Sometimes I'm disappointed in how a book is interpreted for film. If possible, I would rather see the film before reading the book. If I enjoyed the film then I know I will love the book.
Since you've read the book, you might be disappointed with the movie. I hadn't read the book in over a year and forgot bits and pieces of it, myself. I read the "Twilight" series just because I was interested in what they hype was all about. I actually thought they were good. I own all the movies, but haven't watched either of the "Breaking Dawn" ones. The movies did disappoint me, though. I figured out not to read the books before movies, back when I was really big into Stephen King! The movie "IT" was really disappointing to me after reading the book. Luckily, I saw "The Stand" before I read the book!
I don't know if you have read As I Lay Dying by William Faulkner, but James Franco is directing a movie based upon it. It should be quite interesting because the book was odd.
I should add, if you haven't read it and you watch the trailer to the movie, you'll swear there's a rape scene but it's not. You would have to get the whole story really.
Just read the description on Amazon and added it to my wishlist. Sounds interesting!

I had a whole post written out, dang it, it disappeared when clicked to post!
I'm so happy to see everyone checking in, so much fun catching up today! It was awesome!
It will be a quiet day around here, we decided to just kick back and relax. Simple dinner, venison burgers, grilled romaine, grilled veggies. Easy and not a bunch of clean up too! Maybe a few beers later on.
I can deal with the fireworks for a few hours, it's just when it lasts all night that ticks me off. That, and when they run out of fireworks and start shooting off guns. Now THAT is scary! It's the price we pay for living out in the 'quiet' country!
I wouldn't be surprised if they whipped out the guns after they ran out of fireworks, here, and we live in the city!

Hope you have a great night! I have a feeling it's going to be a long one for me! Just hope nothing burns down, here!
Here is my 4th of July present to you all
I found a very neat site to check out a lot of vendors, recipes, mods, coupon codes and tons of information:
The Vape Book
Check it out for hours of reading fun.

Thanks, Wabbit! I definately need that!
I'm used to guns in this neighborhood. What freaks me out is when you just know that their bottle rockets have landed on your roof!
Ditto!
All caught up. Happy 4th, everyone. Today we did hike up Watkins Glen. I took lots of pictures. The nice thing about the glen is it's cool and wet when it's hot out, so it's a wonderful place to get some exercise when it's so hot that the only other option is swimming. The water flows through the glen in a series of waterfalls, and the swirling water has carved interesting shapes out of the rock. When I first saw this magic place when I was a kid, I was totally awestruck, and to this day, after visiting it many times, I'm still blown away by the beauty. Because the gorge is deep and shadowy and when sunlight does reach down it's bright, it's hard to take good photos with the very sharp contrast of light and dark, but some came out OK. Here are some scenes from this morning's hike up the glen.
My brother, his wife, and my 2 young nephews hiked with Bill & me, and the kids love Watkins Glen as much as I always have. I'm glad I can share this experience with them and that they appreciate it as I do.
Sounds great! The pictures are beautiful! Glad you had a good time!
Photos worthy of a nature calendar! Very Impressive!
I agree, Charlz!
Recently we were discussing the movie, World War Z. Did you know it was a graphic novel?
World War Z - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia I told Bill about the movie, and he told me this today.
PS: An interesting review of the book vs. the movie.
Forget WWZ Movie, Read the Book by Kelley B. Vlahos -- Antiwar.com
Thanks for the links! My brother read the book and let someone borrow it before I had a chance to read it. He hasn't gotten it back, yet, and I doubt he will. I don't even think he works with the person, anymore! Anyway, I will have to show him the links.
Mind if my hubby has a few? He misses Baltimore and the seafood, a lot! Thing is, I think he's developed an allergy to shellfish. He'll still take a bite of seafood, here and there, if I am eating shrimp.
Well, I hope everyone has a safe and happy night! Fireworks should be starting soon, but I won't be able to watch them! Hubby will be leaving for work shortly before they start. I won't go outside alone, especially after dark! Don't trust myself or others!
I'm drinking a Mike's Lite Hard Lemonade. Haven't looked up the sugars in it, though. So far, I'm doing fine. I know, bad girl! I shouldn't be drinking alcohol! I have been doing a lot of things that I shouldn't be doing this past week! I'd blame it on hubby, but he doesn't drink. I'll just blame the pizza and fast food on him!
Take care and I'll see you all, later!
