Sandy and Terry--you two are doing a grand job of encouraging each other; I predict the results will be excellent!

It's been cold, here, I thought, but reading about the winters most of you are having, is putting it into perspective for me. Yay, Florida!!!

Tuesday morning we get to join them.

Look for a pic on google images for a back lit horse and study it. You don't have to copy it but it will give you some idea of how the light is hitting. Google images is my friend. :)

I know what you mean about being scared although it's silly. But it keeps me warm. LOL!

I got an idea this morning while waking up. Some of my best ideas are conjured when I'm in bed, that lazy, half-asleep time when falling asleep or waking. I have a white plastic horse model here, and I'll rig some sort of light to shine on it at the same angle I have the moon in the sky in the picture. I'll see where the light and shadows fall on that horse, and copy them. (I looked for a smiley with a lightbulb going on over its head but there wasn't one.)

You must have been reading my thoughts. Last night in bed I was thinking the same thing...using a plastic model like a Bryer horse I think they are called and putting a light source on it. I have 3 so I figured you'd have one. I was going to post the idea this morning but you beat me to it. :)

WOW ! ! !

Decide to take some time away from "lurking" here in "Voltville" and what happens - "280" post later - finally got trough them all . . .

So - On that note, I just want to say that there are some people here, I won't say WHO* that really need a GOOD . . .
private-category-panpan1-img.gif
( " Cough * "Jerry" * Cough * "Lis" * Cough * )

AND - People say I'm BAD . . . RIGHT . . . ;)

@ "Wuzznt Me" - Keep reminding myself that I got to contact "You", but by the time I do - it is already to late at night . . . "My" BAD . . .

Thank you, Uncle - I've only said this to one other person here (Terry), but you are welcome to come visit me anytime as well. It might make for a nice vacation for you if you're into nature. There's not much to enjoy in this area other than that. I think that we could have a blast in front of a campfire at night!! Oh - the stories we could share!! View attachment 290874

 THANK YOU  AND - BTW: All I would need is "YOUR" Company to enjoy "Myself" . . .

As for being out in "Nature" - "You" forget "Sweet Lady", I lived out in the county side, on a farm (Chickens/Cows/Horses too - even rode for a little while until I found out that I was major -ly allergic to them and the hay - NOT NICE), and out in the woods a few times too . . . That's Why I "Love" City Life . . . ;) However, with the "right" person or people - I could do it again . . . Just Sayin' . . .;)

Yeahhh - I have plenty of elbow grease. What I don't have is the coordination or steadiness required to handle the maul that you showed!

scratch-head03-idea-animated-animation-smiley-emoticon-000416-large_zps29c18746.gif
HUMMMM - Could that be the reason NO ONE wants "You" to use a chain saw . . .

Just Sayin' . . .;)

Four months? March usually isn't spinglike here. Sometimes we get our biggest snowstorm of the winter in mid-March. April is the very first time you might experience spring here, and for sure, spring has sprung by early May.

Anyone else, from the Northeast remember the "EASTER BLIZZARDS" - I do . . . One of the first for "Me" was when I was 14 yo and I lived at a "New School" on a Farm out in the countryside of New Jersey . . . Had to walk just over 7 miles to church I was a member of to sing in the choir . . . It was so bad - I had to stay at the minister's house with another guy that walked there too . . . Was very interesting to say the least . . . ;)

If it's one of those one piece bunny suits I definitely wouldn't wear it. Thanks though. :)

 OH MY  "You" in a Bunny Suit" - NOW that I would "like" to see . . . ;)

Sandy, I grew up, surrounded by women. I'm still surrounded by women, as I have 3 nieces and one grandniece. But, I'm stubborn. LOL

Yea - RIGHT - like that will really work with "WOMEN" . . .

Nope - Na Da - Not Happening . . .

but there is somebody we all know who is even more stubborn than me. :p

AH - Wouldn't they really be called a "VERY Strong & Determined Individuals" . . . :D

Just Sayin' . . .;)

Hey Lisa. It's so nice of you to drop in and with treats. Stick around awhile and help me with Lis & Jerry. :D

"YOU" - Don't NEED any Help . . . ;)

But Lis, Classy has known us for a long time. We can say whatever we want to, in front of her. Right Classy? :p

Oh - PLEASE DO - I would really "like" to see what happens . . .

Hi, Classwife. Welcome. Two new people in one evening! Wow!

AH - But "Classwife" has been here a few times before . . . :D

You're right, but I want the drawing to be good. Not only do I not want to disappoint others, more, I don't want to disappoint myself.

For instance, I did those little sketches the other night, knowing they wouldn't be full-blown stuff like the pastel horse portraits, but i showed everyone the ones I was satisfied with. And there were some I wasn't happy with, and you didn't see them. Maybe the ones you saw weren't real good, but they satisfied me.

That's all that really matters. :)

SO DITTO ^ ^ ^ ^ ^ ^ That's just one of the reasons why I framed those "Drawings" I did too . . . I was happy and satisfied at the time with them, also they bring back some really good memories too . . . ;)

Hmmm, we get a few new residents, and then a mod shows up....is this like a western where the "new strangers" come to town, followed shortly by a marshall?:lol::lol:

So - TRUE ! ! !

Good morning.

Things were slow here last night, so I worked on that latest drawing project. Here it is.

I'm not entirely happy with it, but it was a practice piece, after all, so I'm not going to go changing anything. I was still operating under the rule of no erasing and no smudging. That meant when I messed up the horse's mouth and legs, that's the way they had to be, once the black background was in. Also, since I looked at Muybridge's horse for the position, especially the back legs, and another photo for the muscling of the shoulder and details of the head and neck, it looks like this horse is 2 separate horses glued together at the middle. Horses are built that way sometimes, but it's not desirable, and I didn't intend it to happen.

I decided lighting a model horse to find out about backlighting was more trouble than it was worth. I had an idea what would be lit and what wouldn't, and I mostly went with that, which was close to the model. It confirmed that my idea was sound, but it really didn't add anything.

I cheated in one place. I didn't want to try to get the moon round. That's really hard, I've found, getting a symmetrical curved line, like 2 sides of a vase, etc. So I traced a quarter. I just didn't feel like struggling with that item when there was such an easy solution. I guess I should practice drawing some roundish things and getting them even, but not on this one.

So there's my more involved picture from my mind (but with lots of references).

Good morning, everyone.

We are getting wild swings in temperatures, too. It rained last night, melting a lot of the snow, but what's left has turned to ice. Sometime today it's supposed to drop from the 30s to zero!

Deb, I'm glad your mom's ailment is not as serious as first thought, but I'm sorry to hear about your dad. I think the stress probably was too much for him. I think you should consult mental health people. It might help your family deal with things.

Charlz, I'm glad you're back. I missed your burnt toast.

Keep your spirits up Deb. It has to be difficult to deal with that stress. I hope your mom gets better soon and your dad gets the help he needs.

You are trying to stay cool while we are trying to stay warm and winter has just started for us.

It is 14 degrees out there right now but should go into the forties for the high. Sounds like the cold is bad for you Charlz and SandySu. JoAnne, keep Spanky and you warm this afternoon.

Deb - That is a thought about getting mental helath services involved. I'm glad your mum is doing better than you thought she might. Wow, that is hot at your place.

I got some brush and yard duff burnt yesterday. I've been trying to do some hedge trimming around the yard every day. I can only handle about 15 minutes at a time before my arms and my back say enough. Horses got wormed. Goats got wormed and their toes clipped. The hooves grow out and start to curl under. Went pretty smooth. Hubby baked some rye bread and Ibaked three loaves of banana bread.

I measured Wiseguy for a new harness but I am now dithering on ComfyFit vs. regular harness. It is $400 for a regular harness [though I found one of Betathane and it is still from the same company that makes the ComfyFit]. It is over $600 for the ComfyFit. Since this has to remain within the realm of reason on price, I will probably get the regular harness. Both come with a new bridle and breeching.
