Everything is back to normal here, except for my one frozen weather incident..... Dang thing still hurts and probably will for several more days.
I fell on the ice a few months ago and somehow broke a thumbnail like that. You never know how sensitive the flesh under your nails is until you experience something like that.

Everything is back to normal here, except for my one frozen weather incident: when I left work yesterday, unlocked my car door, and lifted the handle, the darn thing was frozen shut (yeah, go ahead and laugh; I moved back to FL in 2000, and had managed to forget this little phenomenon of winter); when my fingertips slipped, I busted off a finger nail so deep that it immediately started to bleed. I almost used up my entire vocab of cuss words. Dang thing still hurts and probably will for several more days.

Oooh! Ouch! I bet that really, really hurt.

    I'm sorry about your nail.
That almost happened to me earlier this month, but I had just trimmed my nails. My fiance thought the door was locked and the key won't open the door anymore so I ran outside real quick and checked both doors, my fiance didn't try the passenger side so when I did it clicked like it was opening but didn't. So I grabbed the handle and pulled. crack went the ice and voila! It was opened.

As cold as it's been here, my car doors haven't frozen shut … yet.

Right now, the wind has started howling. I guess the next round of snow is blowing in.

The neighbors have a wind chime, and when it's windy, it plays tunes that remind me of songs, particularly the one about the mule named Sal on the Erie Canal. Sometimes, I hear Bob Dylan's "Don't Think Twice." Weird, huh?

Sandy....I'm glad you have a new project to do and something different to make it interesting. I can't seem to get started. I've been in a funk for several days and haven't felt like doing anything 'cept yak with Rave. I finally got the snowy river drawing blocked in but that's as far as I've gotten.

I've been the same way. I picked at Gabe a little, but there's nothing like getting paid for impetus.

I can't wait to see how the snowy river turns out. BTW, it's not really a river, just a tiny stream, one you could almost jump over.

    Did you take that pic?

I call it snowy river because that's the name of one of my favorite movies. Have you seen it? It has lots of horses in it and beautiful high mountain scenery. The best scene was when the main character ran his horse down a very steep cliff. It was very scary but awesome.

Yes, I took all the pictures I say good night with. That creek is in the local golf course. Lots of my winter photos were taken there, because it's a great place to walk. In warmer weather, you can't walk around there because of the golfers, but in winter, it's deserted.

I never did see that movie, though I've heard lots of good things about it. I should watch it. I hardly ever watch TV or movies. The last one I saw in a theater was Buck. Did you see that one? It's about a famous horse trainer.

When I broke my arm and Pat stayed with us, she wanted to watch movies, so I watched them with her. Bill buys lots of DVDs, so we had a huge selection. I even watched episodes of Buffy the Vampire Slayer! Not my usual fare, but Pat wanted to see them. I really liked Lord of the Rings and Sixth sense. I watched so many over such a short period of time that they blur in my mind now. Oh, yes. There was one called something like Searching for Private Ryan that was pretty good.

Lol it was Saving Private Ryan, Sandy... I still haven't seen that one though.

It's a war film, which is not the kind I usually watch, but it was good. However, there's the part the movie opens with that's very violent and bloody. Soldiers are landing on a beach and they are just mowed down! It was scary but very powerful, and if there was ever something to show why we shouldn't have wars, that was it!

I have no clue. But it was long enough for me to completely charge a 18650 battery.

My old Pontiac Transport's driver's side door was notorious for freezing shut. I'd have to open the passenger door and climb over the console to get to the driver's seat as a Plan B if Plan A didn't work out. Plan A consisted of bum-bumping the door until it would yield.

Okay ... that's just creepy as all get out.

I didn't know that all the photos were your's. You really should try selling some. I bet you'd do good. I really liked that snowy river one because of the contrast, depth and beautiful colors. I know I can't do it justice in B&W but I'm sure going to try. Now that I know you took the pic I'm skeerd.

Nope, never saw Buck but it's on Netflix so it's now on my list of movies to watch. It sounds very interesting.

That was a war movie if I'm not mistaken. If it is than I saw it but don't remember much about it.

Edit: Sandy confirmed it's the war movie. It was ok but now that Sandy mentioned it it was pretty bloody. :(

Please don't be scared. I just take pictures for fun, not professionally. People say "You should sell those," but do you know how hard that is?

They said the same about the artwork, but Deb, who's one of the many who said it, is pretty much my only customer.

You do drawings that are good enough to sell. I dare you to sell them! How would you do it? Go to craft fairs? You have to rent a booth and take them all there, so you probably need a van, and then you have to sit there and sell them.

For my artwork, I tried advertising in a modest way, and nothing came of it.

The latest potential customer is Starman's owner, who loved his portrait, so I guess she wants me to do her Guinea pig, too. But that's one other person than Deb, and she wouldn't be a customer if Deb hadn't given her one of my portraits for Christmas.

It's not so easy to sell photos and artwork, and I've found the stuff that sells best is doing portraits of people's pets. So that's where my focus is, as far as selling anything. And my price is so cheap, that the cost covers materials and a little extra. If I raised my price, then I'd have even fewer customers, I think.
