I wouldn't consider one a day as being bad. My problem is it wouldn't stay at one for long and I'd be back up to two packs a day in less than a month. One a day probably makes you cough once or twice and helps clear you lungs. Yeah right Chuck, try to justify having one lol.

I've been doing this for a year now, although last May it was 2 to 3 a day. My aim was to eventually not smoke at all. Now I don't know if I'll ever get to that, but the one each day doesn't make me want more. I vape 18mg liquid and have no cravings at all, so I don't even understand why I do it. Maybe a good psychiatrist could figure it out. lol

I'm a psych nurse and a 30yr smoker. Smoking is more than a physical addiction and if you have ever tried to stop using a patch, gum, whatever you remember what a mental hell that was. I think its more than a psychological addiction to,I call it a ritualistic addiction (my term) its the smoke, the way an analog feels in your hand and while SI and other companies have done a great job trying to duplicate that same exact feel its not the same. When I tried to quit several yrs ago I cut straws in half trying to get that feel.It helped a little I could complete my ritualistic smoking behavior that's why e-cigs are so great especially the Volts. I do the same thing you do every once in awhile not everyday just when I'm feeling stressed like yesterday when I couldn't taste my Cowboy. I hope this helps answer your question.

I've got a friend who stopped smoking by cutting a straw in half, soaking a small piece of cotten in peppermint oil and inhaling the fumes. Made her meaner than a junk yard dog but she doesn't smoke anymore. Now she thinks anybody can stop that way because she did lol.
I'm glad it worked for her. Every person's psychological addictions are different-smokers,alcoholics it doesn't matter I think the main thing is a person has to want to stop and if they are sincere they will find a way to do it that suits them. Thing is we want to stop smoking, now stopping vaping is something totally different:vapor:

Funny thing is: I personally was not even attempting to quit smoking. PV's were something that I tried purely out of curiosity. Overnight, I was suddenly a non-smoker after 42 years of sometimes 2 PAD. It's been almost 3 years of vaping without a single cigarette. It tastes better, and I was getting the nicotine that my body needs for nerve pain. I'll never go back to smoking.

But I'll probably never quit vaping either.

"Ritualistic addiction" may indeed be the answer. Especially when you take into account that I had been doing RYO for years. (started as my revenge on the Ohio cig. tax...lol) Then too, I am an ....ahem.... older woman and had been smoking for nearly 60 years. It is more than an addiction or habit; it's part of who I am. I don't know how to be a non-smoker.

My Mother is 73 and she has been smoking since she was a teen. Recently she had a stroke that had NOTHING to do with her smoking she had a congenital heart defect that was discovered when she stroked. It scared her so bad that she decided to ask her cardiologist about quitting. He suggested the e-cigs. It does help, she's not thrilled with them b/c of the "ritualistic addiction". She doesn't know how to be a non smoker either. In her younger years she was a heavy smoker like me,she started cutting back in her 50's and is a very light smoker. I admire both of you tremendously,if I had been smoking as long as you two have, shoot I doubt I would have even looked at an e-cig.

I can only imagine how bad your nerve pain can be,but I very well remember how it seemed my nerves felt those few days of physical withdrawal.
Did you have a great vaping experience from the get go?

My nerve pain is from MS. It was a hassle dealing with 801's, which are what I started with; but pretty much a great all around experience anyhow.

That was exactly my experience - only I had smoked for 43 years

Marlou, I trashed a 43 year 2 PAD habit using ecigs. It wasn't easy. I too wanted those last few nasties before going to bed.
Then I decided to see how long I could go without one. When the cravings came I used the ecig. I still had an analog before bed.
After a week of starting this regimen, I forgot to have a cigarette before going to bed. I had a few fallbacks but once I saw I could do it I felt good about accomplishing it. The desire for a cigarette disappeared totally.
As my sig shows, I'm 17 months tobacco free. I have to admit that about 2 months of using the ecig I decided to have a smoke just for old times sake. Well, talk about gagging a maggot (old navy expression), I took 2 hits and threw the damn thing away. NEVER AGAIN!

Hope this gives you some insight on how to let go. Good Luck.

Got that right !! My horses are so funny when I vape around them especially the colts, they can't figure out what it is and they'll sniff at the vape. Its worth vaping just to watch them

Interesting. Just for the freebie SI photo, I vaped with my horse, and she paid no attention to it at all. We went out in the pasture to take the pictures, and we interrupted her grazing, so she was focused on getting back to munching grass, so I guess she was too distracted to notice that I was vaping. I don't usually smoke or vape at the barn, so this was something she's not used to, but I guess she figures humans do all sorts of weird things a horse can't explain, and this was just another one.
