I think I could hook ya up there Laura. There are probably 3 dozen soda flavorings on hand here and a freshly filled CO2 cylinder. I could even add a shot of caffeine for ya. :)

I told my wife about your soda machine - she wants to see one in operation, but we have not found anyone locally with one to sample first... Sounds interesting, but definitely something I would want to see before I made the plunge...

Yep, I have to say it is a ritual to peek in to see if Rave is up yet...

I am sitting here on my second cup - got four over charged kids visiting and asleep upstairs - doing my absolute best to keep quiet so they sleep as late as possible LOL...

Kids are at their absolute best when they are unconscious.

You have a soda machine??? And yes - I would need the caffeine for sure - double shot please:D

Yep - I have a SodaStream. But we rigged it so that it is hooked up to a 15# CO2 tank so that I'm not shackled into buying refills. Doing that is a complete waste of money. I get my soda flavorings from Prairie Moon instead of SodaStream as well. Not nearly as expensive to buy concentrates.

Bed Bath and Beyond seems to be the most popular place to buy one but I doubt you're going go find one that does demos. Amazon sells them also. If you just want to see one work YouTube is your friend. Lots of videos on both the machine and the hacks. We've had one for two years. Ran out of CO2 once and had to buy a bottle of our old favorite Diet Soda. It tasted nasty compared to the Sodastream. They're flavors are the best I've drank since the old 6 1/2oz coke ice cold.

I remember when ya'll talked about it before and it peeked our interest. We are not big soda drinkers (one or two glasses a week) and buying a 2 liter with half of it going flat before you finish it - well that is a waste. Does the stuff go bad waiting for its turn in line? The idea of making one glass at a time just sounds so right...

That's how Dave and I do it - one glass at a time. I never know if I'm going to want Grime (grape/lime) or Sarsaparilla or whatever ...

I guess it would go bad if you left it long enough. I'm about a glass a week of diet soda. My wife drinks a little more than that but when you open the syrup you can keep it in the fridge for a looong time and I keep several bottles unopened on a shelf in the pantry. Never looked for an expiration date so I can't say whether it does or not. The gas cylinder is like forever. I make plain sparkling water or seltzer sometimes with a little lime or lemon juice as well. The bottles you make it in are 1 liter which is about two glasses around here. Never had any waste yet.

I guess it depends on whether your mornings or your nights are more sacred: ya know, if they get up early, they're likely to go sleep earlier, as well.

Yep, I cannot do the late night thing. For me - staying up till 1am would be a real chore I am usually asleep before midnight. When I was young 2am - 3am was nothing and getting up after 3 or 4 hours sleep did not affect me - now I need at least 6 hours if not 7 to have a good nights rest - awww youth it was a great thing while it lasted... LOL

Good morning (barely) from the left coast!

Those soda machines sound interesting (not that I have any money for one right now :(). Do they have sugar-free syrups?

Yeppers - And they aren't sweetened with aspartame (which is a plus). They are sweented with Splenda.

I got my SodaStream at Bed, Bath and Beyond. The one I went to also has the CO2 refill tanks. I bought a second tank right off but my first tank hasn't run out yet. I like being able to make just one liter at a time. They even have half liter bottles you can buy. The flavors are great. I drink diet pop and their diet root beer tastes just like regular root beer.

Four years to retirement and I can think about that, Raynes. ;)

I need an anti inflammatory e-liquid, though. My degenerative arthritis is killing me. I've had it since my teens and a knee surgery I swear was meant only to bilk my parents of their savings in order to line the pockets of the "sports surgeon" who performed it. They didn't have arthroscopic surgery available back then and my forever swollen knee just doesn't work well. Now, the rest of the joints are getting a bit achy, from a genetic aspect. And to think I want to retire to Oregon for the mild weather because I can't handle temps over 85 or under 40 for extended periods. /sigh
