Holly, the Morning Star sausage tastes exactly like the real thing. We love the Morning Star crumbles in chili. We're not vegetarians, either, but the "fakes" are so good, and we try to keep the fat in our diets to a minimum.
FIL is probably a perfectly nice guy,,,,,otherwise anyway,,,,,,he was probably raised that way,,,,,,,,the woman I knew who was a Hassidic Jew was the same way,,,,and her husband was perfectly nice,,,,,they just have a totally different view on family and what a man and a woman's place in the home is,,,,,,

Now do you see how even I can be a vegetarian? Trader Joe's has these "Beefless Strips" than can work in all kinds of beef recipes: stroganoff, stirfry, bourguignon, stew, etc. There's a chicken version too that I've used in soups, a la king, salads, etc.
The only tough one is bacon - haven't figured that one out yet. And apparently Nathan's Microwave Bagel Dogs.

Morning Star has bacon strips. I like them, but they are not quite as right on as the sausage.
