FIL is probably a perfectly nice guy,,,,,otherwise anyway,,,,,,he was probably raised that way,,,,,,,,the woman I knew who was a Hassidic Jew was the same way,,,,and her husband was perfectly nice,,,,,they just have a totally different view on family and what a man and a woman's place in the home is,,,,,,

No, he's really not a nice guy. He doesn't talk to any of us. We go to their house for a holiday and he stays in his den the entire time. He on.y comes out for dinner, doesn't say a word to us and then goes back to his den.

She was 17 and he was going to Vietnam. She said her mother told her not to marry him because anyone who collects stamps is unusual.
Stayed with him because she doesn't believe in divorce. She also says that she put all these years in and there is no way she is going to let him marry another woman and give the new wife all the money
OMG. That is just too sad. What a bleak synopsis of a life. There ain't enough money in the world, and I can't make myself believe that God approves.
At least she has you guys, who obviously love her. Ya'll be good to each other, and thoroughly enjoy what you have!
There is so much more to life than money. Outlaw, I hope for her own happiness and peace of mind for the "golden" years she will find the strength to realize times change and she's paid more than her share of the dues. If she ever needs a support system, I suspect she would only have to look to you and your outreach - we'll be here. In the meantime, she certainly has my good and hopeful thoughts, and it is good to know she has a son in law like you.

Your MIL sounds like a fine lady with infinite patience and a sense of humor. I'm glad she's got you guys to show her some appreciation.Since you do chicken... they seem to make lots of things out of turkey these days. Isn't there a good turkey bacon around? I finally tried ground turkey for chili and it was awesome. Not a bad burger either.
The turkey bacon I've tried is just not the same. Maybe I didn't try the right brand, but others have said this, too.

sorry about your foot,,,,ouch Well, using Semi's trick of a half a cup of coffee to wake me up just enough to be tired enough to sleep, after I've downed some extra strength ibuprofen, then back to bed for me. Couldn't get a dr appt until Friday. Foot has to do with heat, bp, weight, or a combination of all three. Just need to get it straightened out. Will have to use a cane Thursday at work, but I'll deal with it. I hate the comments I get when I use a cane.

Heck, I couldn't get pregnant with my oldest because I WAS TOO SKINNY
