trust me, I'm grateful,,,,a year ago, November, my husband lost his job,,,,,I made less than 200 bucks a week at that time,,,,,by some MIRACLE of God, he got his job back in 4 days (they just couldn't make it on the number of guys they had left after laying off half,,,,so they had to take back several more,,,he was one of them). But we still lived on buttered noodles for months because we were lucky if he got 32 hours a week. Still, we ate, and we paid the mortgage, which is all I cared about at that point

Amen! Food, shelter and clothing...everything else is extras.

How the heck do you do that?

Coupons and sales, I only buy stuff that is on sale and I have coupons for. Then I either stockpile a 3-6 month supply or eat and use what I can get. If whole wheat pasta is what I can get for 5cents a box, we eat that instead of regular pasta, if the soda I like is diet coke, but I can get a case of sunkist for 40cents with coupons, we drink orange soda. Sometimes it stinks because I would prefer the coke instead, but when a case of coke is $5 and the orange is 40cents, I just suck it up. It only works if you are not brand loyal. The funny part is before I started couponing 2 years ago, we only used store brand and dollar store items, like laundry detergent, cereal, toothpaste and shampoo. Now, everything I have is name brand and I pay less than before. Coupons work, but only if you use them in conjunction with sales, I never buy something because I have a coupon if it's not on sale. Just recently, my local grocery store had Tyson chicken nuggets on sale, BOGO FOR $3.99. I had several $1 off coupons for them, so instead of paying $4 a bag (regular price), I paid $1 a bag. Then the store also had a deal that if I bought $30 in groceries, I could get a $50 gas card for $40. So I bought 32 bags of chicken nuggets and 2 $50gas cards(I use $100-$150 a week in gas). I gave them 32 coupons for $1 off each and the 2, $10 off gas coupons. I paid $112 for $100 in gas cards (which I used the next day) and 32 bags of chicken nuggets. Total value is $228. Now we have enough chicken nuggets for the kids for 6 months (I do have 2 freezers to do this).

Last month, they had pepsi on sale BOGO for $1.99. Then there was a store coupon for $1 off a bottle (made it free) and a manufacturer coupon for .55 a bottle. So for every bottle I bought, the store paid me 55 cents. We bought 100 bottles, dontated 75 of them to my sons church youth group and the store paid me $55 in cash.

That's how I do it. It's a pain sometimes, and I spend about 6-8hours a week cutting coupons and researching the ads, but I save about $1000- $1500 a month or more doing it. All I know is that our income went down by $2000 a month last year, we didn't change our lifestyle at all (except we don't go out to eat much anymore) and I have more money in the bank now than I did then.

That's brilliant MrOutlaw, I watched a few of them coupon TV Shows and always wondered how they got money back. If memory serves this one shopper had over a grands worth of groceries and went out with the supermarket owing her money!

I just don't want to be behind her in the line at the store :glare: :)

I was doing it long before that show, which I hate by the way. That show makes couponers look crazy and like hoarders. Plus, several of the people on the show have said in interviews that they don't shop that extremely and that the producers tell them how much they need them to buy and save for the show.

Yes, I am an annoying person to be behind in the store. I usually tell people that get behind me they may want to choose another line or I tell the cashier that I have 100 coupons and they may want to turn their light off. The manger at one of the stores will usually check me out in a separate line. I don't do a lot of shopping though. Since I only buy what's on sale and I have a matching coupon, it's usually small trips. So depending on how good the sales are, I buy a bunch of a sale item and it's only 2-3 items, so I may only have 40-50 items in my cart at most. Of course, I will probably have 50-70 coupons for those 40-50 items. What really annoys people is that if I have more coupons than items, the cashier has to get a manager for an overide.

Now, you want to talk about real savings, it quitting analogs. In the 4 months that I have been using smokeless image, I have spent about $350 on vaping supplies, but would have spent $1000 on analogs. Now, I don't even need to buy vaping stuff. I have about 300ml of premade juice, 1000ml of DIY stuff, plenty of batteries, 2 vivi novas with wick and coil and a few ce3s. The only thing I will need to buy is a box of ce3's a month. With DIY, I can make my juice for 4-6cents a ml. I vape 5-6ml a day (except I am on my 3rd vivi nova tank today). If I use one ce3 a week (which I don't) and 60ml of juice, that's only $25 a month compared to the $280-$300 a month I spent on analogs.

And I feel better

Marlou, you might want to check out Walden Farms | Calorie Free Specialties. Their products supposedly have NO calories. I really like their pancake syrup...their jellies are not bad...and I like their salad dressings.

Thanks, Lilac. I added that site to my "food" favorites folder and will check it out. I've bought a few things from netrition.com, like their low carb flour. I just checked on their site and they carry xylitol, I'll have to look into it. Mostly I read their message boards for ideas of how to cut carbs in recipes and still think you're eating real food. lol

If I don't watch the carbs my blood sugar gets a little high. I'm not diabetic, but fear that if I don't stay away from too many carbs I could become one. Prevention is always better than the cure.

Nope - no more tweaking. It is PERFECT!

I wish I could say that. Flavor - no problem, but I have been cutting my nic level (15mg now), but the satisfaction is lacking and I am vaping more. First thing in the morning I vape from a new cart (24mg) - maybe 6 puffs to get the nic moving, then I switch to my home made juice of 15mg for the rest of the day and then vape 7.5mg for the last hour of the night... But, I do not want to vape the volume that I am vaping. In the beginning I vaped about 1.5ml - 2ml per day and now it is 4ml - 5ml... I want to stay at the lower volume.

Truth, I am not sure of which is better - higher nic, but lower volume or lower nic and higher volume...
