Oh Raynes what I wouldn't give for some of that homemade bread,YUM! We have one of those bread machines but it doesn't come close to the bread my Mother use to make but it's still better than store bought. Irish Soda Bread is our fave out of the machine and if I weren't so lazy this morning I would go fire that thing up. I guess I will just have to live vicariously through you this morning. Saw the Power Company Trucks on the way to taking my Daughter to school this morning so with a little luck we will have power today and I can shut off the over worked generator until the next storm. Living up here in the mountains if you don't have a good generator you would freeze your tush off, we loose power if they even talk about a storm... Good Morning all and thanks for making the High Octane Coffee Raynes...

I thought we could all use the octane this morning. My daughter made the bread and the jellies,I can't cook but I can make a mean pot of coffee, caffeine addict that I am.
Officer I can sympathize with the power outage I don't live in the mountains but out here when the wind blows our power goes off.I love the mountains, love winter but I hate snow and ice. Its beautiful but being from the south it totally shuts us down we don't know how to drive in it

There's nothing like homemade bread, it's better than cake. When I was a kid and the family got together, everyone gathered in the kitchen to have coffee and my grandma's homemade bread. So it not only tastes wonderful, it brings back good memories.
Yes it does,Shelly uses my Grandmother's recipe. Nothing says love like homemade bread IMO.

Morning Rave,it was my pleasure to make coffee this morning, usually someone else has it made before I get home. I hope your feeling better.
If we depended on the county around here nothing would get done. We have to mow their right of ways so we can see the road, the lazy jokers. Personally I think everyone needs a generator and keep kerosene lamps, plus having a grill if its where you can.
BTW I love your avi.

Gotta check that rearview mirror BEFORE you pass, Uncle. You are helping some "local economy" though it is unfortunate that you're stuck doing it.
They sure don't cut you any slack especially if your from another state. Glad you made it home safe and sound Uncle just sorry you got a ticket

Our county doesn't do anything either, but it's not laziness, they're just too poor. If you drive the main highway, you see the difference clearly by the road conditions in winter. Our county is barely maintained. It may be a solid sheet of ice, then, as soon as you cross the county line, it's smooth sailing.

I'm thinking that a generator is a necessity. I have a small fortune in meds that have to be kept at a steady temperature in the fridge. Plus, there is nothing that will exacerbate my condition worse than heat in the summer. Our power out here defines "flaky".

We have a lot of old fashioned kerosine/lamp oil lanterns because I prefer them to Coleman types or L.E.D. types. If need be, I can cook in the fireplace. Firewood here is endless and free.

Thanks for liking my newest avi. That was one of two fawns that were just outside my dining room window. Have I mentioned that I love this place?

Now you folks have me wanting to make homemade bread. I used to make it all the time, and it makes the house smell fantastic! Wouldn't ya know - I just went to the store yesterday, and I don't have any yeast. :(

I am SOOOO envious I haven't seen not ONE deer in my backyard and you have FAWNS !!! No turkeys --nothing except squirrels and doves.
What makes it so bad is I feed them too !!! Here I was up at 3am with binoculars quiet as a mouse no coffee nothing not even a vape hoping to see them. Nope nada.

Aw maaan! I didn't mean to make ya feel bad. Well, I guess that just means that you'll have to come visit me sometime. We've got quite a few deer right now. If it makes you feel better, I hardly ever see them if I'm actually looking for 'em.

Oh and hi! I'm new here finally to the point I can post in most of the forums now. My name is Jay, but its Spoon to just about everyone. I'm an electrical engineer in the fibre optics business.

Anyway back to work I'm sure that I'm late for some random meeting.

You didn't make me feel bad at all, I just wonder what I'm doing wrong. It may still be too warm here its in the 70's and we still have a lot of green leaves and stuff. I sure would love to visit you sometime maybe we could camp out.

Today was a good training day. Having a little trouble with Zanne wanting to rear when I ask her to back. So what I did was groom her and apply pressure to her chest until I felt her lean back. When the lesson was completed she had backed a total of three steps at various times. I'll take it. Everything ended on a positive note. Think I've just about brushed all the gray out of her coat though with all the grooming it took just to get those three steps. GEESH

I thoroughly grossed out my son today - which is actually almost impossible. That is, unless you're having a can of spinach for dinner.

Now, if you empty that can out into a pastry crust, add in some onion, parsley, dill and feta, and bake it for a little while, you might have something there...did you just open up the can and start eating it, Popeye?

Awesome. I always like to end training on a positive note.

The miniature horse has been getting a little wild when I am leading him. He saw his shadow the other day and started bucking. I gotta put a stop to that. It is becoming a habit.
