Well, didn't realize it's been 10 days since I was here last. So big HELLO to everyone!

Lots of stuff happening here. Early Monday morning (Veteran's Day) one of the mobile homes a few doors down from us exploded. Furnace blew through the ceiling causing a fire. That unit is totally gutted. The one next door to it also caught fire. Two people were injured and are still hospitalized, plus, sadly, 5 cats died in the fires. I'm fine, as is my sister and brother-in-law who live here with me.

The park was evacuated, so we spent most of the day at my niece's house until we got the all-clear to return home. It turns out the regulator on the main line coming into the park failed, and pressure which should be less than 1 lb, shot up to over 60 pounds. So the electric was turned back on, but no gas. We had electric blankets, and I cooked with the crock pot and microwave, so it really wasn't that bad for us.

But the fun was just beginning. Next came the big spat between Xcel Energy and the park owners as to who was going to pay for all the repairs. It was a no-brainer to me since it was the utility's equipment that failed, but meanwhile all the residents were without heat, hot water, etc. In the end, Xcel finally agreed to repair all the fractured lines, and there were many of them.

My gas has been turned on and off so many times now I've lost count. Move your car, we have to dig there ... no, you can move your car back we're digging somewhere else. Yes, you have a leak, well we can't find it, no you don't have a leak. Since Monday, we have seen incompetence at its highest. If I see one more worker standing around fiddling his thumbs & staring at the sky, I swear I'm going to go into meltdown. We've already paid a huge fee to have our furnace checked out (fan switch got fried during all the explosions and shutdowns/turn-back-ons). Of course, we called our own service guy -- the Xcel rep said the motor was shot and tried to sell us a new furnace.

Anyway, I'm glad to be alive. The park managers told us the whole place could have gone up, so we're lucky indeed. My thoughts and prayers are with the 2 people injured. The first victim had her granddaughter with her at the time, and thankfully, the little girl did not get hurt.

I'm off to catch up on the posts now ... so hope everyone is having a very happy Voltie day. :D

Hey, Awsum, what is the iTaste??? I googled it and it looks square LOL,,,but what do you like about it??

Yup, it's square and I like that...it can't roll of a table that way. It's a VV, 3-5 volts with an 800mah battery. What makes it unique is that it uses magnetic "heads" that attach to the battery. The heads come in a proprietery mni tank, 510 and 808 and I think maybe an Ego thread as well. I like everything about it, good battery life, great short circuit/overload protection, not bigger than an X2-650 with a clearo and being able to "tune" the vapor and flavor for each delivery system/liquid combination. I never would have believed it would make that much of a difference to be able to adjust voltage to suit the moment, but it does for me. The only thing I don't like much is that it is a manual and needs a hand to operate it. That's not to say I won't keep using my Volt stuff though, they're all automatics and so convenient because of it.

Oh dear.

All I can say is that I love you all,,,,,,,,

and that we are like a family,,,,,,,,and just like a family, we have our moments of joy, love, fun times,,,,,,,,,

and arguments. We all get cranky occasionally,,,,,,and sometimes we take it out on those we love the most,,,,,,,

we shouldn't,,,,,,,but it happens.

And like a family, we forgive each other when we aren't the best we can be.

Hugs.

I know that I'm the new kid on the block but I've really begun to think of all of you as family soooo... I have adopted all of you.

I do get a feeling of sadness from everyone but with each passing day, it will get better. :)

Rave... Please! Please enjoy your vacation!

Hello, folks. In light of recent events on this thread, I decided to pop in here and say a few words. Raven is very upset over said recent events and just reading back here... well, I get the feeling others are as well.

All of you are good and caring people. There is a bond that holds all of you together. You might think at first, "That bond is vaping and SI." Maybe. But I think it's friendship, respect, and values. You still have that. Carry it forward with you. As a group, you are much more than one person.

I guess we picked the wrong time for a vacation. But don't think we're not thinking about you. We talk about you every day. Stay together. Keep your friendship strong.

You mean the world to Raven. You are her "family."

Blue & Rave: Please enjoy your vacation.

Others have already adequately expressed how I feel as well. I am saddened that some have had their feelings hurt or perhaps been angered by words here in this thread.

JoAnn, we're all newbies at some point; your viewpoint is as important and valued as anyone else's. I'm not exactly new to ECF, but I came to the SI subforum shortly before you did. And this will either blow over, or the offended party/parties will just stop posting. But I agree with you and others -- that the Chit Chat thread is open to all, and I feel like we have embraced each other as family. And families sometimes spat but usually get over it.

Holly, welcome back! Sorry you're not feeling the best, but there's no place like home, is there?

You were exceedingly lucky as were those who lost their homes. Overpressure natural gas is a nightmare waiting to happen and it was kind of like Russian Roulette to see which house went up in a big bang depending on whose thermostat called for heat first. Holy crap! Glad you're OK and I hope Excel gets their act together very qucikly.

So awesum can you only use their heads and tank? Or can you use anything as long as you're using the itaste adapters?

You can use anything that has 510 or 808 threads or the mini tank system. You do have to use the magnetic "head" though. There are always exceptions to every rule. For example an SI clearo won't fit onto the 808 adapter becasue the square adapter is a little too big to fit up into the skirt on the clearo. I'm sure there may be other exceptions as well. Only time will tell. One of the advantage of the magnetic head system is that the battery is physically protected by the head from any liquids that might leak from the delivery system.

Holly did you buy you nic juice already at the level you wanted or did you have to cut it down?

I got the 60 mg and cut it down,,,,,,,originally I was afraid to do this and was going to get a much lower nic,,,,,,but I'm SO GLAD I didn't,,,,,,,DD likes a higher nic level than I do, sometimes I like a lower nic and sometimes I want a higher nic, and I can make both this way,,,,and I use so little of the nic that I have 3/4 of the bottle left after a month and I only had to bu VG and PG which is much cheaper.

I read somewhere that they have a sensor to tell you the min and max voltage to set it at for whatever you have attached. Have you played with that yet? Does it work well? Thanks for keeping us informed. Looks intriguing.

OMG, how scary! Gotta give you props - I don't think I would've been able to handle it with as much grace as you. That sucks! Hopefully the Xcel fixes will mean smoother sailing for you from here on out. They should stop moaning and just be happy nobody DIED from their incompetence! :grr:

Thanks for all the kind words. Like I said, this really feels like family here on this thread.

Yay, our heat is on!!!!!!!! :) Of course I'm happy about that, but I am so ticked off that many of my elderly neighbors are still without service. This happened on Monday, and leaks are still being discovered after everything was supposedly fixed. This is a senior park, and many of these folks are in their 80's and 90's and can't really cope on their own very well. The lack of organization has just been over the top. Someone needs to be in charge for crying out loud. The aftermath of this crisis has been defined by poor leadership, poor communication, and poor people skills. If I were the boss, they would all get handed their walking papers.

Yes, I know, I'm just frustrated. But most of the people living here are on small fixed incomes and cannot afford to spend many more nights in a motel. :(

I think my psychic self predicts some lawsuits in the near future.

Just venting, and thanks for listening. ;)
