Oops! I didn't realize I had posted that deer photo before. Sorry to repeat myself.
I doubt we have bobcats here. I never heard a scream like that at night. I did hear something weird about a month ago. I thought it was a coyote trying to kill my cat. The neighbor's dog was barking furiously. I went out in the dark with a flashlight, calling my cat and searching in the spot where the sound had seemed to come from. Nothing. My cat showed up the next morning with not a scratch on him. I have no idea what it was, but I think it could have been something killing something else. We have foxes around here, too. I spot them crossing the road while I'm driving every once in a while. Rabbits scream when they're in danger, but this was more a deeper growl kind of howl, like nothing I've ever heard or could identify. Who knows what it was.
As for the sound of screaming like a woman being killed, ever hear a peacock?

Around here, if animals act uncharacteristically, it scares me. We have rabies among wild animals. Raccoons are notorious, but a couple of years ago, a rabid fox bit a little girl's hand and wouldn't let go. He had to be shot to get the child free. This happened right in town, too, not out in the countryside somewhere. Wild animals are supposed to be afraid of people and run from them. If they don't, there's something wrong, whether it's disease or tourists. Those animals are the most unsafe.
Hey Volties!
In case you're interested, our own dlsw (Diana - a fellow Voltie)
has a thread in The Lounge for "Middle-Aged people 35-54". She's not real picky about the age group though. She lets me play there as do a couple of other "riper" individuals. C'mon and join us!

Same thing with gators here. Before Florida became so populated and gators went on the endangered list for a while I used to swim in the Okalawaha river in the forest with them. If you started toward them they'd run. Then they started building houses on rivers, lakes and canals and people started thinking it was fun to feed them, until they didn't one day and the gator would swim off with their dog. Fish and Game would come move them to a national forest area. The first year they were chasing hunters up trees who couldn't shoot them without going to jail. Now they're getting bears in urban residential areas and freaking out.
I'm waaay over the hill for that group lol.
Hey!! Imagine's back!! Woot!!
My order was delivered today! That's the fastest I've ever gotten one, thanks!Same thing with gators here. I wouldn't have gone swimming with alligators! It sounds too risky. But I guess you knew it was safe from experience.
As for bears, though I have never seen one hereabouts, I hear they are in the National Forest. I used to ride there a lot and never saw one. But a while ago, one wound up in the center of our town. I have no idea where he came from, since it's not adjacent to the national forest. Either he traveled for miles or else there are bears closer than that. The bear seemed to be a young one from reports I heard. I think he was probably Dumpster diving for food behind a local restaurant. However, that was an unusual case. I haven't heard of bears in town since then.
I got mine today too! Unfreakinbelievable!!I am shockedMy order was delivered today! That's the fastest I've ever gotten one, thanks!
Only bad thing is I got a gold battery when I ordered a copper one.But not worth the hassle of sending it back, and it's not an awful color (I do see a hint of green to it Rave). Came in a nifty little box this time... last time I got a battery it was in a plastic sleeve.

Wild alligators are more afraid of us and won't bother you so long as you don't bother them during feeding time (evening). The problem is idiots feed them and they lose their fear of us. That's where you have to be careful

I've been in the woods all my life Sandy. Back in my hunting days you never saw a bear. I'm not afraid of a wild gator or bear. It's the gators that have lost their fear and campground Yogi Bears that worry me.
What he said. Problem is you can't tell which are wild and which have been fed when you see them.
You can train gators to eat off your hand though...usually right up to the elbow.

I worry more about those animals walking the streets of Orlando than I do the ones in the woods.

Ya'll stop bragging. The only thing I got today is my shipping notice. It is not in USPS yet...
