I used to ride with a lady who had an Arabian/Quarter-horse cross (with a really, really full mane and tail). I was horrified to see her using WD-40 on her horses' mane/tail...she swore it was just a silicone spray and not much different from what was used in her hair salon. It worked well, and her animal seemed to suffer no ill effects; but I wouldn't have used it. Horses are supposed to smell like horses, for Gods' sake! ...and besides, my horse was an Appendix Quarter Horse, and I had no such problems taming his mane/tail...he had more of the Thoroughbred silkiness going on, so it was easy for me to be all morally superior, huh? :glare:

But, really, it seemed to work very well.

Hmm - thot I saw the beginning of a white throat near the jaw / ear in your avi. Gosh - don't know why we can't click for a bigger pic on them!

Pet Lovers: Need some help with tangles? LOL - today was the first time I noticed it's for grooming DOGS / CATS & Horses!
used it on tails - there is water based silicone in it ... really helps get out mats (behind long doggie ears) - bedding sorta slips right on out!
Beethoven loves it because it's not stinky & cuts down on static / fly-away hair!!! Kelco brand "De Mat"! May have to get it by the gallon!

Magnifying glass: I'd sure be lost w/o mine! I have the adjustable arm w/ light ... before moving to mom's I had it in the kitchen near the stove! How many FireFox users have the Taskbar Magnifier app??? (quietly raises hand)

Has anyone else seen that yellow house at Union Beach NJ (on Wx Channel)? I'm still shakin' my head on that one ...

Still no word from Larry huh? Keepin y'all Easterners in thots and prayers ...

You have good eyes. He does have white in those areas, also his chest but according to breed standards he should not have any white at all which makes him "pet quality". I didn't care about any of that. He's my baby. His sire was a tri-color show champ. That's where the white came from.

I need to send Turk and Dino your way, they are Perchies with long,THICK manes and tails. Last time I let someone groom them they had them looking froo -froo.
You MIND READER! Perchie! ( drooooolllliiinnngggg!) I've wondered about the chances of coming by a Percheron ...
My uncle had part Percheron and ? ... oh the mane! Oh that tail! Oh that horse! LOL all his horses where named "Buster"! Talk about straddling a 250 gallon drum! I was about 8! Ok lady - lets see some pics! (Pretty please?)

:shock::shock::shock::shock::shock: WHAT!
It's 40% water and some sorta petroleum - like the smell of it but - that's just soo not right! Infusium 23 Leave In is another good one but the De Mat has much longer lasting effects and leaves a nice sheen ( and smells nice! not synthetic (EBAY))

Nope! taskbar magnifier! Your right - who cares - cuddle is as cuddle does!

Hiya all - couldn't get on to ECF last night, and the news showed us footage of the storm, and from New Jersey. So glad everyone is ok. Kudos awsum for having a generator. Glad you are ok too 1st officer. And anyone else hit by it.
I seriously had a moment when I thought the storm had somehow knocked out the ECF server....

Oh NO not the Monkey's again! I went through a whole bottle of Xanax that week and I'm out. I guess I won't be reading the forum again until I can get to the pharmacy because I know Rave will loose those beasts again . Why oh why did you have to bring up the Monkey's? I think you are all out to get me...

Sitting down, facing forward.
How are you folks in Ohio, Indiana, Michigan and New York (upstate and western) doing with what's left of Sandy? I just heard that somewhere out there the barometer was reading 977 millibars which is basically Cat 1 hurricane level.

I'm with you this morning, Rave. Feel like the morning after, but I didn't have a night before and coffee ain't cutting it.

I've seen a lot of horse people use WD40 and I've even seen some folks use it for arthritis. I just can't get past the fact its WD40 I guess. I wonder if that WD40 worked as a fly repellent to

Kicco,Perchies are gentle giants but its real easy to get hurt with them b/c they are so big. They don't recognize personal space like light breeds do. They are really smart horses though all draft horses are. I've gotten hurt with my drafts more so than the others when they were 2yr olds b/c they were awkward and couldn't stop then plow into me. These were my first foals to rescue and I had never been around drafts before.
Kola my avi is a Percheron x QH cross.

I'm in Central NY, the Finger Lakes region, and we just had lots of rain & wind, not much different than other storms. Our electricity never went out. Now it's gray, not much wind, threatening rain, but just foggy right now. I think the bulk of the storm passed south of us.
