Sitting down, facing forward.
I can't blame the guns, they are inanimate pieces of metal, and as soon as he took them out of the house they became illegal guns even though they were purchased legally. I just can't understand what happens inside the head of someone to make them do something that heinous (and that's a weak descriptor). He killed his mother first, by itself, an unthinkable act. Then he went to the school. Maybe some insane jealous rage over the kids she taught? All I can really say is that I cherish my kids and grandkids a little more than I already did.

View attachment 160609 The Happy Rabit is back! Today shines bright, chilly, and clear. Going to church to decorate with hundreds of Poinsettias. Will not forget yesterday, but I refuse to dwell on the past. If you need a laugh, go the the Smokless Image Joke section (its not called that but something like it) and check out my post on "If Imagine were replaced by Lee Ermey. It is worth at least a chuckle. Love you all.

PS: The post is called The Funny Pages.

My grandmother used to say that God allows evil so that good men and women can foster compassion, love, human service and grief., yes, even grief. Without anything bad happening, we'd never know how to do those things.

I agree it seems totally senseless, however.

Mark, what do those passages in the Christian bible teach? I don't have a Christian Bible here,,,,only a Torah.

He said you could Google it, and you can. There are all sorts of versions of the Bible online, and I imagine the Torah is, too. For instance, the first reference produced this: 2 Timothy 3 (Blue Letter Bible: KJV - King James Version) That's the King James Version, which some people find harder to read, since it was written in old times with old-fashioned language. Another one of the same verses: NEW ADVENT BIBLE: 2 Timothy 3

I love Google. You don't need so many books anymore to do research. Just look it up online, whatever you want to find out. There have been very few things I've tried to find out that weren't there, though it happens every so often. People can say what they like about the evils of the Internet, but I think it's a wonderful educational tool. Like anything, it can be misused, but we all wouldn't be here together if not for the Internet.

Smile a little friends !

Two hours into my first day of work as a Wal-Mart greeter, an ugly woman came in with her two kids. Hearing her swear at them, I said, 'Good morning, welcome to
Wal-Mart. Nice kids, are they twins?' The mom answered, 'Hell no, they ain't twins. The oldest one's 9, and the other one's 7. Why would you think they're twins? Are you blind or stupid?' I replied, 'I'm not blind or stupid. I just couldn't believe someone slept with you twice. Have a good day, and thank you for shopping at Wal-Mart.' My supervisor said I probably wasn't cut out for this line of work!

I've got the coffee on, folks. And I still have banana bread - moist, delicious and even better a couple of days later.

Well, Kon, I don't think we will solve the world's problems with religion:) We are going to have to use our very human hearts and our minds, I think. Let's hope the human race will be up to the challenge. How you been doing, Kon?

We got a dusting of snow and it is 19 degrees outside. Looks like today will be clear, sunny and cold.

I have just finished catching up with the thread and once again I am thankful to have found all of you wonderful people. You are compassionate but also have learned that we have to deal with the sorrows and dangers that confront us as we make our way through our lives.

The expression "getting past grief" is one I don't like or agree with. We never get past the griefs in our life. We learn how to cushion them and not dwell on them. Grief wounds us but eventually the wound becomes a scar. That happens when we pick up the pieces and make ourselves go on. It's the only way we can survive.

Rabbit, I read your post about if Imagine were replace by Lee Ermey. Thank you. It did make me chuckle.

Hello

Yes that is one of the many good excuses.
Where was YOUR god during the shoot out? (whatever religion you all may follow)
This tends to be a fashion in the states lately, i'm so sad for those children.

Good morning.

This bothered me for a while. Konstantine, I think I can safely say my G-d, not that I am a religious person, was not with the young man that did this horrific act. In fact I think I can safely say that no G-d or any of the basic values associated with Religion, or even simple morality, was not with him. Maybe, in a way, that is what was wrong...the complete lack of basic morality and sense of right and wrong that seems to be slipping away from humanity as a whole, both here in the US and world wide. No G-d or morality can protect anyone from the type of evil that this act represents.

I tread lightly here, for this is a forum dedicated to a e-cig vendor, but want to say I may have the answer to your question, Chief.

Grab a Bible or google it: 2nd Timothy chapter 3 vs 1-4. Also, Romans chapter 1, vs 18 on. Particularly vs 28-32.

Mark
Thanks. I am trying to tread lightly. Just read the 2nd Timothy chapter. Then read the Romans chapter 1.

The only thing that comes to my mind when you wrote this was the poem Footprints.

Okay - EVERYONE . . .

I am not going to take any sides here, for many different reasons . . .

However - The most important one reason is that - THERE IS NO SIDE TO TAKE . . .

What has been happening World Wide with the massacre of innocent lives is without a doubt absolutely horrific and unacceptable for anyone be you religious or not . . . Nor just because it happened in America or is continuing to happen through out the WORLD . . .

And as you all may know by now, I am very apposed to limiting anyone and their way of expressing themselves here in Chit Chat . . .

However, IMO - this discussion about religion and the ethical and/or moral grounds about what has been happening is going to possibly get out of hand . . . Might I suggest very strongly that - NO ONE take a Higher ground about who is right and who is wrong and we change the subject or at least limit it to our collective grief about all the innocent lives lost . . .

Just a thought and especially so that NO ONE gets their feeling hurt because of a very sensitive subject . . .

REMEMBER - Dicussions about Politics and Relgion, especially when they are about "Who is Right" or "Who is Wrong" never lead to anything positive - nor does it accomplish anything in the long run . . .

WELL - The same could be said about "You" My Friend . . .

AND - As you can see I'm still here . . . "Voltville" is and always will be Home Base for "Me" . . . I just have been in the background "lurking" and enjoying all the other post here in Chit Chat (Don't go to the other SI threads to much, because I get confused, anxious, and fruastrated ;)) . . . Really "like" seeing and reading everyones stories . . . AND - When I have something to contribute I DO . . . :D

Okay - Now Your turn - What have "You" been up to ? ? ? I See you're only posting every now and then also . . . Has life gotten back on track for "You" yet ? ? ? Oh And how is "Fani" - haven't seen hide nor hair of her around ? ? ? Are you 2 still in contact with each other ? ? ?

Well - I have got a phone call coming in - and I've got to answer . . . I'll be back later . . . :)

Hey - Don't forget "You" also can contact "Me" too . . . :D

good morning :)

I don't think anyone was saying anyone was right or wrong :)

However, I get your well placed point, Uncle :)

Religion and politics aren't something to discuss with friends,,,,,,,people get emotionally entangled.

I already had to take a break from fighting friends yesterday :) Nobody was right or wrong,,,,,,,but people become very emotional.
