Sitting down, facing forward.
Don't get me wrong, a touch screen is nice, on a tablet....with a stylus. Who wants finger smudges all over a nice, big hi-res display in the first place? The, just how productive or easy is it to stop typing and manipulate the screen with your fingers to do something, like fix a simple typo? It sure looks nice in a movie, or when the weather people play with it on TV, but as a practical way to work and be productive, get real. I can just see some designer, working on a large power or nuclear plant, trying to use a touch screen inside a program like AutoCAD or Microstation on dual 27" monitors. It might be fine for kids with no real purpose other than to entertain themselves, but in an environment where a profit has to be made it just ain't gonna work at all.

I would imagine it's kind of like dogs. They won't respect someone they can dominate. And if you're not the pack leader they will take advantage. (yeah, my favorite show is the dog whisperer. I have understood soooo much more about my own pack and how they think, watching that show.)
Your right if a horse knows that they can dominate they will. Like dogs in a pack, horses in a herd have a pecking order.IMO the best way to communicate with an animal is to learn how they communicate with each other.
In Trooper's case Liz spoiled him as a baby--rotten she gave into his every whim add that to the fact Liz isn't a trainer. When he was a baby they played chase. As a yearling it wasn't fun anymore and he'd learn to intimidate. That's why when he tried to rear on me I tapped those forelegs with a whip. ("Wrong person, wrong day Troop") Then he didn't get the attention he was used to getting, but I let him figure it out himself.
One thing a horse owner can do that leaves the greatest impression is to not feed until the ears are forward and don't turn around and walk off at feeding time. When a person does this they have just lost their place in the horse's pecking order. In the horse's mind they are "higher up" than you are.

BTW one year of vaping. Never had a smoke, still have the volt!
Yay!

Congrats Kon! I also saw a video called "in case of zombie apocalypse make your own juice" or something like that. The guy filled a cup with pipe tobacco and then poured vg (or maybe pg) over it and let it steep. He then strained it with some mesh wick material and bottled it up. I'm not too sure about that method, but I guess if zombies are at our door, we probably would vape about anything!

What else was really interesting was that the first time I saw her after I was hurt, the hoof trimmer came to do her feet, but I was really still in bad shape and probably wouldn't have attempted going to the barn yet under normal circumstances. As soon as Penny saw me, and I went up and stroked her neck, she very gently nuzzled my hurt arm. I'm convinced she knew I was hurt and just where it was, too.

Also, when I was first hurt, at home, my cat insisted on lying on my hurt arm. Of course, I couldn't let him, but as much as I chased him away from it, he kept trying to crawl back to it.

Animals know when your hurting and they try their best to look out for you. Its not our way its their way.

If you're using Windows 8 it's no wonder you're confused! You did hit the nail on the head, though, it sorta works on anything but never really works on anything either.

That is actually a method for extracting tobacco flavors that I have seen discussed here on ECF in other threads. Some people do this with home grown and home cured tobacco leaves. It's supposed to result in true tobacco flavors. The appearance, to me, would be a problem though.

Hi Volties!!

Me too Kico. I've got a ton of pages to catch up on. I'm going to have to catch up bit by bit here. I've been away too long, but I still have to read back. So, please excuse if I comment on old subjects out of the blue.

Lately, I've been spending whatever time I can with Blues. It's very doubtful that he'll be back folks. He only has so much that he can give each day. He's been giving that time to me, bless his heart. In return, he has my complete focus as well.

I know that he would like to be here. He really likes you people, but there is only so much that he can do. The man is amazing. He has been through incredible adversity in his life; and yet, he is able to take whatever fresh hell life throws at him with such grace. He doesn't complain or feel sorry for himself. He just ... accepts. Me - I'd be mighty ticked and feeling more than just a little bit picked on. Not my Blues.

Well.... I'm still here.... but then I lurk in the shadows.

Glad to hear that your son was able to deal with the unexpected delivery of an old tree - I gave up climbing on top of things after falling off a roof while applying shingles. I hate the thought of getting onto one to prune a dead tree...

You probably don't recall but at one time, I asked a question about taste buds (that, in my case, weren't working well) and you'd responded that you had to really overamp your flavors to get some taste. I took it to heart and just waited for my taste buds to come back. I'm still waiting ;) I'm not as bad as one person I ran across on the forum who had stated that everything tasted like cabbage. Had I been in his shoes, I'd have gone back to smoking. Personally, I mix my own now (it's cheaper and it doesn't matter what it tastes like). I know what tastes like the sole of a boot and what doesn't so I start from there....

Being a huge fan of Blues, (I wrote a bunch of stuff and then just deleted it because.... well just because - had to do with various animals and the cat house etc - I'm still in awe of the man) anyway, I'm really hoping that he's breathing better and I seriously hope that his "cold" still allows him to visit with at least some of his furry friends.

This was a much longer post but I was nice and deleted most of it.

Stay warm ;-)

I'm still in awe of the man too.

im sure there is a sock heaven....ditto here tails....drives me nuts where they end up.....heres a funny story about...things flying out of moving vehicle....in my younger yrs....I use to hitch hike................yeah I know its bad....but in those days we didn't care...hitching one day....this motor bike flys past and a packet of cigs come flying at me...landed right near my feet...I pick them up same brand I smoked...and the really weird part was there were same amount of cigs left in the packet as mine....freaky!!!

I hate to break the news to those that believe in sock heaven. There is no such place. They turn into coat hangers and accumulate in the closet. Yep. Just sayin'.

I put an X-10 system in for the switches we use the most and it sure is handy! I can turn everything on or off while I'm in bed. When I come home after dark, just hit the remote and turn on the flood lights.

I dust as well and don't know if I like a slightly damp microfiber towel or a Swiffer better. With Bo, dusting usually means some scrubbing too, when he shakes his head it can get messy!

That reminds me, I have to wash the insides of all of my windows because of Lexi. Again. I can relate and sympathize. :(

Oh, I have heard a lot about not using dryer sheets. I used to get frustrated that my towels always felt slightly slick and non absorbent. My Mom (yes I still listen to her, I am a 51yr old momma's boy) told me to stop using dryer sheets and stuff like Downy with them, and it worked. They are absorbent once again. I am blessed, btw, that I not only love and honor my Mom for being my Mom, but I really like her as a person, and enjoy spending time with her. Spent the day running her around on errands yesterday, and had a great time. It is also awesome that she is fully functional at 76 and does quite well on her own.

Oh holy cow!! That's why my kitchen towels won't absorb. THANKS!!

You're a good son, Basilor. And I'll bet you're appreciated too. :thumb:
