The only way I see saving your couch is to have it professionally cleaned and sanitized after the dogs are gone. Even that may not get the urine out completely. Hopefully Whisper won't detect the scent because she may "scent mark" in the same location. I'm going to sound like the bad guy here, but if you have your furniture and carpets professionally cleaned, I would send her the bill. You still have to live there when this is over.

I thought about that. I had some left over stuff from when Whisper had her accidents and cleaned it up best as I can. I'll have to see if that deters Whisper from marking. She sees the crate and the dog in it, so I think that is reinforcing her to make sure she goes outside to potty.

Oh mylanta! I'm sorry, but I have missed most of this conversation. Rescue dogs are often "kennel dogs" and are not potty trained as they have been forced by constant caging to potty where they live. This is difficult to undo. Have you tried puppy pee-pads and baby-gating her into the kitchen or someplace w/ a solid surface floor?

She came from a breeder. Her parents made a brat out of her. I cannot and will not use potty pads in my home when I've provided a dog door. They all know how to use it, so I won't go down that route. IMHO, that only reinforces dogs to potty in the house.

The problem with this dog is that she wants to pee on furniture. I have pergo and tile throughout the house. I wish that she would go on the floor, rather than my furniture!

SI is great for those who are new to the electronic cigarette. They do not carry the more advanced vaping equipment. As for me, I started with SI's starter kit which included 78's then went with the X2's for longer battery life then added the new SI spinners to experience variable voltage... dialing in the right setting to get the best flavor. These topped with the T3's.

Many of us have incorporated 510 threaded devices from other vendors. In my opinion, there are not as many options with the 808 threaded devices. You can use adapters such as 808/ego and 808/510 to expand the use of SI's batteries with many 510 or ego threaded juice delivery systems.

I have several ego twists, and will be adding a more advanced device in the near future. I will continue to use my SI batteries and ego twists right along with whatever new device that comes along. I love them all and I'm sure you will too.

One more thing to add (now that I'm reading thru the thread):
Cesar always says "you never get the dog you want...you get the dog you need". Maybe they are in your life for a reason. Dogs live in the now. Quit thinking about what the dog use to do...there's a new reality now. Live in the moment. Let the dogs know what you expect of them and stay at it. Get your bad (not bad...BAAAD, you know what I mean) calm assertive self going (like the one you have at work) and feel that inside. Your authoritative self. Create the reality you want in your mind first. Dogs pick up on what's inside you, what you're feeling. The dog is confused. They need to be told what to do. You can do this! I believe in you, Tail! Be the Pack Leader!

I've always picked the sickly dogs. Something always goes wrong with them. I used to think I was not cut out to be a pet owner, but one of my friends told me that these pets have found their way to me because I take care of them. Made sense, so I live with it.

As of today, I have exactly 7 days left with these dogs. I had to push the stairs away and block off the couch that the dachshunds were laying on. They have a little dog bed that their dad brought, so I put a blanket on it. They have to share or sleep on the throw rug. Luckily, Whisper can get up on the other couch without stairs so she's got a spot for herself.

The problem with this dog is the more attention she gets, the more she pees. I've just started to ignore her for the most part. She certainly understands when I tell them to go out and potty. She is just a brat and I'm not wasting more time on trying to train her. I expect everything she's learned living with me will be immediately unraveled once she sees her human parents again.

Here's a picture of daffodils. Soon, soon, though right now, it's snowing lightly, which it has been now for days and days and days. I sure would like to see the sun again, though the snow is pretty, and though it's been snowing continuously for more than a week now, there's not all that much on the ground. If it was rain, it would be drizzling.

So pretty! Daffodils are popping out here. I love yellow flowers for some reason. They always make me smile!

Welcome to Voltville - I have used the Nanos, the CE3s and the cartos. In fact, I still use all three of them. Since the cartos are refillable, I like to refill and then put the condoms back on. That keeps them moist. I love those for when I am out and about with my Volt. Looks so much like a regular ciggie.

The Ce3s are very nice but you do have to refill them using a syringe. It isn't quite as icky as that sounds and they are very durable.

The Nanos are easy to fill. I haven't had too many problems with them. One leaked on me right away and I ended up tossing it. All the rest have been fine. I did get a stress crack in a couple of them but I used clear nail polish on the cracks and they are still going strong.

IMHO that gives you quite a few options for those cute little Volts.

I've had zero luck with my CE3's. I can fill them about twice before they start leaking or get a horrible burnt taste. I think I must have gotten a bum package of them.

I just put a fresh one on filled with your cin danish juice. I'm going to make a huge bottle of it today.

I do praise her when she goes potty outside. I don't give treats, like their dad did. He got the well behaved one really overweight by giving too many treats. This dog is very stubborn and set in her ways. I think I've burned quite a few brain cells trying to figure her out.

Yes, I have stairs for the couch and to my bed for Whisper. Although she can jump, I don't want her to hurt herself as she ages. The dachshunds need them more so because their legs are so tiny and they are so low to the ground.

I forgot about that odor neutralizer that dwszme mentioned... good stuff. I had something similar when Spanky was a puppy and it works great. The one I had was "Urine Gone". It also came with a black light that showed up any places that urine is that you wouldn't see just by looking. That reminds me of a Cesar episode...was just on again last night here....Prada (the dog's name), was a spoiled brat, so spoiled that when the owners didn't give her attention she laid down and kicked her feet and threw a fit...too funny. That's what Cesar's advice was...."Ignore the girl". They were to ignore her when she was a brat, and give her love and attention when she did what they wanted and was submissive. The problem started with the owners, tho. Her littermate had died and the woman was showering her with attention and not correcting bad behavior because she felt bad for her. They sense what we feel. Cesar says to live in the moment and do not "feel sorry". That doesn't help them. And don't reward them with love and attention when they're misbehaving or that will keep them in the same state that you don't want. So ignoring is good.

Welcome to Voltville, Joie. As far a liquid delivery systems go it totally depends on your own preferences. A carto is very durable but has limited capacity, although the are some very large ones available, and they do tend to mute flavors apparently because of the poly fill.

CE3s are my favorite. I still have two that are from when they first came out in August, I think, and I keep twenty or thirty filled all the time. I use a larger syringe to fill them with because that simplifies filling them. They do need to be cleaned, regularly, to maintain vapor and flavor output.

Nanos are OK and are actually a micro tank system, complete with a tiny tank and poly fill like a carto. I had no luck at all with them but other like them a lot. Theyare relatively easy to fill right from a bottle of liquid. They are basically a disposable and not designed tobe cleaned so if you change flavors you need another Nano. Again, preference.

Clearos are nice, larger capacity, good flavor and are easy to fill and clean. Flavor changes are easy. The design has been slightly changed and I am not happy with the newest versions. SI clearos will fit the cig-a-like batteries as well as the X2 but look best on an X2. Again, preference.

The T3 is really nice, but only works on an X2 battery at the moment. It has a large capacity, 3ml so it is kind of big, is easy to fill, and very, very easy to clean. Another big plus is the fact that the wick/atomizer assembly is replaceable as a separate item so when it wears out you just replace it and your T3 is brand new once again. SI will also be bringing out a smaller version of the T3, 1.5ml, sometime in the very near future.

There are many tanks, full sized as in 3ml or larger, that will work with the SI XL cartos so you can experiment there as well.

In short, just try all of them that look like they might suit your needs. You'll find that "magic solution" that works best for you.

When did toaster ovens get to be such a complicated item? Ours bit the bullet this morning, had to live with a bagel toasted in the broiler. We spent a couple of hours going from store to store looking at them, all the way up to $250+! All I want to do is toast some bread, or a bagel, or maybe heat up some leftovers, jeesh!

I'm definitely getting older. We want to take down two sweetgum trees in the backyard. We're tired of those darn spikey seed pods they drop and carpet the lawn with making Bo uncomfortable when he steps on them. Anyhow, I want to get a rope high up in the largest one to insure it falls in the right direction, IE not on the house. I'm going to be setting some temporary pegs to get up high enough, like about forty feet or so, I can't seem to bend like I used to.

I've never had a dog that pees on furniture when it gets attention (besides the happy to see you piddle).

If this dog could read my mind, she'd be worse than a raging pit bull on steroids by now!!!!

I prefer the cartomizers. I have nanos, clearomizers, etc, but I always find myself using the cartos. After using them so long I actually prefer the taste over the tank types. So I haven't even used my nanos or clearomizers in awhile. Buy a couple of everything - can't hurt to have a stash anyway. You'll find what you like.

OK, not watching TV, I never watched this guy, so I finally broke down and watched some of his videos on YouTube. There was one about training a dog not to be afraid of the sound of fireworks on the 4th of July. It was interesting that he didn't pet the dog till way into the video when the dog had been distracted from the sound and calmed down. This is so much like I've read about horses. If a horse is excited or scared, don't pet it to calm it down, because your petting rewards the behavior of being excited or scared. Instead, distract the horse by giving him a job, some exercise he knows well, like a leg yield or something. Interesting how it all fits together.

You got it! That's what I was talking about. Cesar says that too. Give them a job, even if it's a backpack filled with water bottles on a walk. Make them work for their food. Exercise, discipline....then affection.
Us people in america just do affection, affection, affection....and then wonder why our dogs are brats.

I saw that episode too. That was so funny watching that little thing stretch out, having a temper tantrum when she didn't get her way!! Even he had to laugh at that one too, not letting Prada see him laugh of course. Just like human 2 year-olds.

The little bit of hay he had left was soaking wet in the bottom of the feeder. I tipped his feeder over to dry it out and went and got him a little bit of dry hay. He's back to being a happy camper

I don't know what sort of attention they got. They have been living with their schizophrenic dad for the past 3 years. Mom flies in every few months for a weekend, then goes back to her job. I do know the dad is into Marilyn Manson and that sort of music, so it's probably not soothing to the dogs ears. He's a pretty nice fellow and always seemed to love the dogs, but he did tell his ex wife that the dogs were becoming a pain to take care of. Their mom did tell me that Carmella was ...... in the house when she pressured me into taking them. So the behavior has been there for awhile, and I didn't realize how severe it really is until she arrived.
