Thanks for the coffee Awsum.

We are up pretty early. Hubby is driving to CA to buy a chainsaw. I declined to go with him. I have a lot to do around here and I think chainsaws are sort of boring.

Looks like the wind will be coming up so I need to get some stuff done around here early:)

Best get out there a feed the critters.

That is just nutty. Aswell as mean. You don't just shoot animals for the fun of it.

Tha buffalo gnats are out and the mosquitoes too. AAARRGGHHH!!!!! Just awful. I need to get some bug juicve on the little horsey and some DEET on me. Unfortunately, the DEET doesn't really deter the gnats which will be here until the temperature goes above 80.

At least the bug juice kills them when they get on the horse.

The bugs aren't a problem here yet. They are talking about maybe snow this evening, though they said that yesterday, too, and it only rained. So far, no rain today, though it's gray and looks like it could at any moment. I think tomorrow's going to be a nicer day, so I'll go visit Penny then. Or maybe even Monday, if tomorrow is still gloomy.

What kind of bug spray do you use on Wiseguy? I've tried a lot of different ones, and by far my favorite is Ultrashield in the black bottle. I rarely spray myself, but some years ago, Bill & I were camping in Chincoteague, and the mosquitoes were awful! We didn't have any bug spray, so after erecting the tent, we walked across a grassy field, being attacked continually by mosquitoes, and went to a store, where we bought Deep Woods Off. On the front porch of the store, we sprayed each other down, head to toe, and then walked back across that same field to our tent. Not one mosquito bothered us! That sold me on Deep Woods Off!

Thanks for the welcome back gang. It has been a terrifying experience. They took more than material possessions, they took my sense of peace at my home. I hold my breath and my heart just about pounds out of my chest when I come home from work. I'm sure it will take some time to get over it, even with an alarm system.

I'm trying to remember what tools I had has been hard. I see empty holes in my cabinets and shelves and try to remember what was there. This time around I am writing down serial numbers and a description of everything I buy and not leaving it on the computer. I have an old ledger book that I'm using as it has no value to steal. I still had my very old hard drive that I was able to copy to my new computer. But, I've lost a ton of pictures including all of Whisper's baby pictures and our trips. I will take my old hard drive and leave it in my office desk at work for a back up. I've given up on jewelry and such. I miss having some of my stuff like my tools. I reach for something, only to find it gone.

They stole some of my vaping equipment. I ordered a new eVic and some dual cart tanks to replace some of the stuff. When I saw my eVic gone, I went out and bought a few packs of cigarettes. I smoked for a few days, but decided to quit again so I'm using my 78's and one X2 that I had with me at work that day.

I know it will be a long time before I have my peace back, if ever at all.

Now, back to the claim list. I'm trying to make it easier for the claims dept by putting it into a word doc with tables. Once I finish the list, I want to have this behind me so I can get my old life back on track.

It's good to have you back, Tail. That's awful that your sense of peace and safety is destroyed, as well as your things gone. Using that old ledger sounds like a good idea. We missed you, and we are all very sorry this happened to you.

Yep, I'm thinking about the thingey where you back up like Carbonite. It would be bad to lose your computer. Accckkk!!!!

Not to mention the different accounts on the computer.

One reason I have a dog is because I felt so insecure living in CA. I had several dogs i found on the street and found them homes and I realized how much better I felt walking into a home where the dog was acting "normal". I stopped searching all my closets and looking under the bed when I got home.

Having a dog does help, especially if they are the kind that'll bark if they hear someone at the door. But Tail has a dog. Probably the intruder wasn't intimidated by the dog because Whisper is small. Even a medium-sized dog with a lot of bark helps, I think. When I lived in NYC in an apartment on the 2nd floor, someone broke into the apartment above us via the fire escape, which went right past our window, too. I'll bet our dog was at that window, barking like mad, so the burglar decided to go up another floor. Our dog wasn't a huge, intimidating kind of dog, either. He was a mutt, sort of like a Beagle, but some other breed, too, maybe German shepherd. But that dog was a ferocious barker. He sounded like he'd tear you limb from limb, even though he'd probably lick the burglar's hand if the guy had actually entered the apartment and said hi to him in a friendly manner.

Sitting down, facing forward.
Tail, I clicked "like" but that isn't properly descriptive. I know what you're feeling from having a break-in many years ago when I lived nearer to the shore. That feeling will last a while not matter what you do. It's just something to deal with on a rational level and not let it overwhelm you. One trick you can use is to video everything, then cut a CD or DVD. That gives you an excellent record and CDs and DVDs are easy to store and cheap enough that making multiple copies over time, as things change, is no big deal.

We got Bo because Mrs. Awsum has never owned a dog. He is big, and his bark is ferocious to say the least. When he's out with us, on a leash, he wants to meet anyone he sees and is very friendly. If someone comes to the door, though, he gives the impression he wants to have a snack on whoever is knocking! I've had people start to leave just based on his reactions to them knocking. When I take him with me when I go out, he's first through the door when we get home. I know that isn't necessarily being the "top dog" on my part, but if anyone is inside I want him to find them first!

The Wabbit is Back !

Well folks, I guess maybe one or two wondered whether the wabbit got lost in his wabbit hole. Just got back from a cruise to Bermuda. Great trip (our 7th to Bermuda). Weather was fabulous in the 70s with sunshine all week. I could have held seminars on vaping and spoke to several groups of smokers on the smoking deck and gave out my vaping cards which I printed to send everyone to smokless image to start vaping. LOTS of interest and I was surprised that almost everyone never even heard of vaping or electronic cigarettes. I met only one other person who also was vaping. I could vape in my non smoking room without setting off the huge smoke detector and that was great. Mrs. Wabbit did not mind, but I went to the smoking deck a lot to get some fresh air and my bourbon on the rocks in order to just relax and enjoy the gals by the pool. I enclosed below one pic of Horseshoe Bay, one of our favorite beaches and a pic from Fort Sauer showing our ship in the distance. I haven't read all of the past week's posts yet, but will catch up next week. Hope everyone is doing well.

Taking pictures of your home and possessions then saving the pictures on CD/DVDs is a great idea. Also just keeping computer backup files on them is necessary in the event of situations like this.

Having a guard dog is good but nowadays, these fools have guns and would shoot an animal that appears threatening. Thankfully Whisper was not harmed during the robbery. I hope she ran and hid under something...

Glad to see you back Tail, wishing I could help you feel safe again. We've never had a break in (knock wood) but we do use the alarm system religiously and have a crazy terrier patrolling the premises. So far, so good. But, I have been mugged and it was super scary and took me a long time to feel ok again. Sounds like you are doing everything possible to keep this from happening again. (((hugs))) I am really glad that you and whisper were not hurt physically.

Welcome back Rabbit, sounds like you had a wonderful vacation! You are your posts have been missed around here.

It has been a day of crazy weather here, rain, snow, graupel, sunshine, thick dark clouds, wind.....you name it! Even a rainbow! 39 degrees right now, we get a taste of springtime then it gets snatched away. It HAS to get better, right?

Hope all the rest of the gang is having a wonderful Saturday, those that are here, and those that are absent.
