I'm back. Luckily the ER trip went SUPER fast. It was amazing. Anyway, it's NOT broken, apparently there are some MILLION ligaments and bones and muscles in your feet, it's like a very very carefully balanced ecosystem. I went to the Adirondacks over the weekend, and while I was there I did a 3 mile hike over rocky terrain with my husband in... Boots. Not hiking boots, either. They're not even really snow boots. They're just dressy fur-lined warm boots, and are NOT meant to be warn exclusively for 3 days straight. They did a CT scan and found several muscles were contracted (like a cramp that wont go away) and several 'stressed' ligaments. All that combined made for a VERY FREAKING PAINFUL experience. Like, guys.. I've never felt pain like that beofore, ever. It still hurts, but we got me a foot brace and a shoe insert to wear that makes walking WAAAY more tolerable.
Moral of the story - Wear proper footwear. Seriously.
