Those of us who feel helpless and live too far away to be of any good use can donate to the Red Cross and specify Tornado Relief. They take credit cards or Amazon Payments. Spring Tornadoes 2011 « American Red Cross Disaster Newsroom

We have a lot of tornados up here in Minnesota too, the damage can be devastating. Been there/Done that.

Lucy reminds me of my half newfie. He doesn't do it at the dog park, but when he plays with puppies he "lets" them tackle him. My son brought home one of the neighbor's puppy (the thing was so tiny she squeezed through the 2" space in the gate, and they weren't home.) Our younger dog had to be put outside because he was standing over her and nipping t her when she tried to get out from between his legs. He wasn't hurting her, but she was scared. Brody on the other hand, who could have really hurt her by accidentally stepping on her, let her pin him to the floor and chew on his ear for a while. If only he didn't jump the fence every chance he gets, he'd be the perfect dog. :p

I've got an Australian shepherd that will let *some* (I would say all puppies but there was one he was just too jealous of to play with it) puppies and babies play with him like that. He is amazing when it comes to watching kids too lol.

My pit gets too excited around new people in his space. Once he's gotten to know a person he'll play with them, but until then he just makes sure they don't come near me. My bil put his hand on my arm to get my attention and the pit, who was already sitting between us , pushed his arm off of me. So it sort of became a game. The next time bil came over he didn't do it anymore. He's just protective. :)

hey friends~! Today's my one month smoke free, I feel awesome about that! Somethings wrong with me though and I've gained 20+ pounds of water weight in the past week or so. My feet and ankles are so swollen it's hard to walk and wouldn't ya know I have no insurance~!

Lynleestar, I know some of the reasons for water retention but am far from qualified to diagnose or suggest remedies. The only thing I would suggest is to make sure that you are not de-hydrated. The body sometimes tends to hoard that which it does not receive enough of. Too much sodium can also be a culprit. Either way, insurance or not, I would still get it checked out.

Hope you feel better soon.

Lynnlee, cut down the salt and caffine, and up the fluids. I would start looking into clinics that do a sliding scale, even if the increased fluids takes care of it, that's good info to have. Don't wait too long though, to get it checked. I'm not a doctor, but I don't have insurance either, so I understand about trying to take care of it yourself. Also, nurses at docs offices are very sympathetic to the no insurance thing. If you have a primary care physician who's seen you before, you might try calling to see if you can talk to the triage nurse, and just explain that you don't have insurance and would like to know if there is anything else you can try. You can also get an idea of what it could be. I do this with the kids illnesses. I really don't like having to pay a doctor to tell me my kid has pink eye, when I know they have pink eye. The nurse just told me what problems need to be seen and called in the script for me.

Lynlee - please take care - that much swelling can't be good - try laying on your left side too - it helps with kidney or liver function - can't remember which - but my Dr had me do this when I was holding water and PG with #1.
Also, make sure you're drinking plenty of water.

If you have a Dr - call the office and explain what's going on and ask if they have a sliding scale or can take partial payment now. Your health is too valuable to mess with. Please. Call tomorrow.

This same thing happened to me in Sept. 2008 when we went to DisneyWorld; I had to spend the last day in a wheelchair because of the swelling. Doctor gave me a strong diuretic and it took about a week for me to get back to normal. Dr. said it was caused by all the extensive walking mixed with Florida humidity.

After my mom went through the major bypass with complications in her leg last June I had an ultrasound on my legs and her Vascular surgeon read the results and said I had the same vascular disease as my mother, he was just seeing it 30 years sooner. I had an appointment to have laser vein surgery at the end of Feb and I lost my job and insurance on valentines day and had to cancel the appointment.

I'm calling my doctor tomorrow.

Thanks for all the well wishes guys~!
