I had to kind of 'play mom' with my mom today and make a Dr.'s appt behind her back. Her toe has gotten worse and she wouldn't have done it on her own. We went at 3:30 and the doctor said it needs to be amputated, but he wants to send her to a podiatrist first because he thinks her other toenails have fungus. I don't think so but we'll see. Only problem....she only has part A hospital coverage. She seriously doesn't want to go under anestesia again and with her being 70 and not in optimum health I'd rather she didn't either. If there is a way to do a local anestethic it would be awesome....but then insurance wouldn't cover it. Doctor commended me for catching it so soon and mom thanked me for making her go :D

Keyz last June she had a blood clot and her foot turned purple. She had to have emergency bypass that went wrong and we almost lost her. We were blessed that she had a Vascular Surgeon with 30 years at Loyola in Chicago and he pulled off 14 hours of surgery, about 5 of it she was awake through because her heart couldn't take the anestetic. Her toes never completely bounced back but especially the big toe. It hasn't caused her any pain or made any changes until the past 2 days it is now leaky and stinky a little. 10 years ago she had gangrene in her pinky toe on her other leg and ended up having it amputated and a bypass on that leg. So now it's 2 bypasses and going to be 2 toe amputations. And still 2 packs a day

OMG Lynlee thats terrible. Is she freaking out?Thank God you took her to the doctors. She is soo lucky to have you there.

Yeah, caps are about $15-45, ballpark. Grats!

the Cap was only $10 plus tax! But he drove over from "across the bridge" dropping everything (40 min trip) he was suppose to do on his day off to save my bacon! So the $ was well worth it! Plus his 1st child is due any day - so I "rounded up".
