We were at D's Last Resort (won't let me use the name, but it's a short/nickname for Richard). Sean's hat was "King Poopy Pants" (ironic since his nickname is Poopy Pants and we didn't tell the server). Justin's was "I'm Adopted" (another irony since his conception was when I had a weekend break from Aberdeen Proving Grounds, was up there for 6 months).

D's was ok, I guess.... The food wasn't terribly great though. I understand the shtick of the place, but at least the food could have rocked.....

Or when grandpa drops them off after a day of sugar and they run around laughing for hours....
Or ....

Yes. I know how to fix this. My mother had a habit of feeding Rhianna ice cream and dropping her off 15 minutes before bedtime. No matter how much we explained the inherent problems with this she continued to do so (although she started adding "whoops, sorry" to the process). It stopped immediately when we fed Rhianna a half pound of chocolate fudge on the way to Mamaw's for a sleep-over.

You're all mean mods alright?! Sheesh! Stop fighting over it!

And, on a side note, I tried to get "fixed" after I had my daughter. The doctor told me nobody would do that for me because I was only 21 and wasn't married. I was like, "what does not being married have to do with it?" and she said, "Oh, you're husband may want kids..." ...... does not begin to express the feeling that my feminist nature brought out in me over that one. I have to wait for a man to decide what I can do with my body?!

What's amazing to me is that every time I've heard that story and the doctor was male the reasoning was "you may change your mind when you get older." I don't know if being male "authorities" makes them more leery of being labeled chauvinists or if females going into the medical profession have just had a patriarchal/patronizing culture beaten so deep into them they don't even recognize the implications of the statement. It's very strange to me, though.

I was a single mom for 6 years. It is doable and my child is well adjusted, fun, awesome.... somebody you'd want to hang around with. You'd all like her! And based on what I know of you from here, you're an awesome dad and you can provide you're little girl with all she needs. It sucks, but you can do it.

A single parent who cares is worth much more than 10 parents who don't.

I couldnt stand kids when I was in my 20's. When I was asked "smoking or non-smoking" in a restaurant, I always replied "the no kids area". In my 30's kids were tolerable. As long as they didnt scream.

When I got married I asked the doc to spay me. Hubby even told doc we wanted it. Doc refused. Said we could change our minds later.

We did- 12 years later I had my first. The next year the 2nd.

I had no idea what I was missing. BUT! I prolly wouldnt have been a good parent then. We got our cool vacations and travel in, we knew the marriage would stick before we made our decision. Its not for everyone, and it takes a lot to admit that.

Wow. Apparently single fathers aren't even allowed to inquire about adoption or surrogate mothers. It was such a big deal that they suggested that if I was already a father perhaps child services should talk to me. I'm horribly offended and really utterly rip-.... nuclear ....... -Magnus

What?! That's insane! A single father should be able to adopt a child that needs a home if he can support and love that child! WTF is wrong with people!

well, I never liked other peoples kids. and honestly still dont. I dont like sleepovers, I dont do playdates, and the only kids who come over here are children of good friends who would stop speaking to me if I DIDNT bust their kids ... when they needed it- not the other way around.

I decided I DID want my own kids, and tried for years- was told I couldnt have them after many tests and procedures, and drugs. I gave up. was gonna get a hysterectomy, and ended up preg. that was 12 years and 4 kids ago- I DID get fixed after the last one. cause EACH time they told me "you will never have another" I have no doubt in my ability to prove medical science wrong so I fixed the problem......

I could never imagine not having my kids- matter of fact, this weekend will only be the second time that DH and I have left our kids to go somewhere, and this weekend is us going to learn something for THEIR education. Everything in our lives centers around them. we are pretty much the brady bunch- with guns and 4wheel drive... LOL

WTF? What happened? They implied that a single father needs child services to step in? Am I reading that right? Cause that is some f-ed up s**t right there and pisses me off about as much as being told I need a man to decide if I can be "fixed"!

Also, I'm with Quittin. I don't like other peoples kids so much. But kids always love me! What is that???

I inquired and it was suggested I misunderstood. When I clarified, they asked about my wife, when I said I'm getting a divorce. Then they started asking questions. It immediately turned into something that made me feel like they thought I was a pervert. Then they said we look for stable traditional families and then I brought up the same-sex couples which seemed to further discredit me in their eyes. And then it slowly devolved into questioning about the well-being of my daughter. -Magnus
