That used to be a valid question, and the answer depended on what you wanted it for. But since Apple dropped the proprietary hardware (the only thing that really differentiated them), the question now is whether MS or Unix is better--OSX is just FreeBSD with a proprietary UI on it. I can load OSX on every machine I have here (including my little Asus netbook)--just like any post-intel Mac owner can load MS products natively.

One thing I've wondered is this boot camp thing. Does it cost money? If it does, why does anyone use it? Why not just dual-boot?

No, it costs nothing for Boot Camp. It's basically LILO. You have experience with OS X currently or are you working off old knowledge or things you've gleaned off the net? Boot Camp is a pretty simple thing, something that's specifically highlighted by any Apple store, Apple commercial or any Apple news site (even the WSJ when they did articles on Apple products as far back as a couple years ago).
