And about your mom: Now I want to adopt you! I joke all the time that we're not raising boys - the world has enough boys - we're trying to raise men. And I'm trying to raise men who will make my future daughter in laws have to like me because I did such a good job - since we all know THEY (the DIL's) will be the ones to pick my nursing home!

I promised my dad before he died I would always take care of my mom.
It was my pleasure and I don't regret anything except I spent too much time working. Should have spent more time at home.
but hey hindsight is 20/20

My best friend did the same, his Mom was from Korea and his dad made him swear to take care of her -- for the next 15 years he put his life on hold for her; I know you did the same, I am honored to know another who made a similar sacrifice for unconditional love. I miss my father every day for the past 23 years (I have issues!), there's never enough time which is why its so important to enjoy life and those who matter now; the giving of your time and attention is the most precious gift you can give someone, I wish it didn't take me so long to realize that. Talking to myself again, sorry.......

I do what I love also and work from my home, involved in my son's small school in one of the prettiest areas of Illinois, every day I thank god for my life -- sure it could be better but it could be a hell of a lot worse!:)

And my brother has owed me money for a decade, what can you do, he's my little bro'!

Take care, Lox

Homeish now
It's funny how obsessed Americans are with independence.......so many other cultures think nothing of sharing their home with their parents when they grow to old, if the children ever really leave.
yet we start separating ourselves at birth, any idea how many folks think we are loones for letting out babies sleep in a separate bed, let alone room
