I know I am a little behind and you are probably off the subject but I am just catching up. I just want to say I am sorry that you all get taken advantage of at times. I've watched it happen and there are times I have wanted to say "stop!, I think this person is screwing you over" but I have no proof. Just from watching and a feeling. You are all so giving it makes me very sad to see when you feel you have to stop what is your basic nature.

That probably isn't very well said but know that although there are people who will take advantage, you have helped many others who really did need help and probably could not have gone on without it.

skydragon you're a part of what goes on here as well! Jules requested we not talk about the subject in any thread guys. I would like to make a request at this time though. If you see something in the future like you describe, Jules wants to know about it. Better a false alarm than someone be taken. Chances are if you see something, you're not the only one. IMO boB
Guys, I get on average 80-100 PMs a day and about 300 email notifications that usually have more than one post that I should read. I can't read them all by myself and things get missed by me. If you see or feel that something is not right, feel free to PM me. PLEASE PM ME about them. I can use all the help I can get with keeping PIF safe but I cant' do it alone. I don't want you all to confront the person, that just creates more work and hassle, but if you will PM me so I know it's going on, then I know there is something I have to deal with. I am asking for you all to help me by keeping me informed. That is what I'm here for!

Ok that's enough of this group hug stuff. Lol

Let's blow some s**t up with some HV.

Oh NO! Someone alert the fire dept and paramedics near Lox!

Lucky for me, it's kitten season. the woman today said that what they had brought with them wasn't even 20% of what they have at the shelter.. but at the shelter there is so much more red tape and stuff. It's nice that they have some standards for the homes they put the cats in, but I am not looking to breed regular short haired house cats, and I already own two very spoiled siblings.. just gimme the cat and lemme go home and introduce it already! Now I get the wonderful task of naming the kitty.. I've always named mine after Disney characters.. I've had Belle, Jasmine, Beast and Chip.. time to start thinking of some names.. I am determined now...

I knew I liked you: cats: minnie mouse, tinker bell, jasmine, briar rose, jiminy cricket, prince, belle, and cinderella. Dog: Mickey Mouse. ;)

I take it you are a Disney fan?

just careful with the artificial butter flavoring....you don't want popcorn lung (which comes from artificial butter flavoring ...google it)

Diacetyl (Popcorn workers lung)

In rare instances, bronchiolitis obliterans may be caused by inhalation of airborne diacetyl, a chemical used to produce the butter-like flavoring in many foods such as candy, microwave popcorn and wines. This first came to public attention when eight former employees of the Gilster-Mary Lee popcorn plant in Jasper, Missouri, developed bronchiolitis obliterans. In 2000, the Missouri Department of Health called in NIOSH to make a determination of the cause, and to recommend safety measures. After surveying the plant and each patient's medical history, NIOSH recommended respiratory protection for all workers in microwave popcorn production. Due to this event, bronchiolitis obliterans began to be referred to in the popular media as "Popcorn Lung" or "Popcorn Workers Lung".
Bronchiolitis obliterans (BO),[1] also called obliterative bronchiolitis (OB) and constrictive bronchiolitis (CB), is a rare and life-threatening form of non-reversible obstructive lung disease in which the bronchioles (small airway branches) are compressed and narrowed by fibrosis (scar tissue) and/or inflammation.

One heavy consumer of microwaved popcorn has been diagnosed with this disease, which is the first known case involving a consumer.

On 27 August 2007, Weaver Popcorn Company of Indianapolis promised to replace the diacetyl butter flavor ingredient in Pop Weaver popcorn with another flavoring.

In September 2007, Dr. Cecile Rose, pulmonary specialist at Denver's National Jewish Medical and Research Center, warned federal agencies that consumers, not just flavoring or food factory workers, may be in danger of contracting bronchiolitis obliterans. David Michaels, of the George Washington University School of Public Health, first published Rose's warning letter on his blog.

On 16 January 2008, it was announced that Wayne Watson, the Denver consumer who developed "popcorn lung" after inhaling microwaved popcorn, was suing the Kroger grocery store chain and its affiliates. In the lawsuit, filed in U.S. District Court, Watson's attorney claimed that the companies "failed to warn that preparing microwave popcorn in a microwave oven as intended and smelling the buttery aroma could expose the consumer to an inhalation hazard and a risk of lung injury."

Diacetyl is approved by the Food and Drug Administration as a safe flavor ingredient, but there is evidence to suggest that inhalation in large amounts is dangerous. There are currently no warnings from federal regulators about diacetyl.

not that I want to scare anyone...just want to make sure you're careful about your butter flavoring since you are inhaling it

I realize this is based off Lilac's quote but still, I think you should name it after one of the 7 dwarves. Wait a day or so and see its personality although, personally, I'm really partial to Dopey. Love that lil guy.

It isn't you Jules believe me. It's just that I would hate to say something and it not be accurate. I know you are very busy with things that are tangible so for me to PM you with a "I think maybe you should keep an eye on this person because I think he is taking PIF for a ride" just seems like it might be wasting your time.

And again, there is the problem of what is actually against the rules as opposed to bad, selfish behavior. Take the J name as an example again. Time after time he would say "I would take that but I have nothing to give" Then someone would take the offer for him and put there stuff up. Against the rules? I don't think so since nobody forced anyone to do that but taking advantage of the PIF generosity, I would say yes. I know you are here to moderate and that probably wouldn't fall under that but if other members agreed, they could at least discuss it and come up with there own decision. That's why I said I would say something to boB. If it were something blatantly against the rules, rest assured I would contact you.

Jim's MIA again after talking HV...not good! We need a group hug, and sky, Jules has told me many times no issue is too small. Like I said chances are if you see something a lot of others do as well. What ends up happening, or at least has in the past, is that I get PMs from people, asking if I see the same thing as them. I've went to Jules about the "J" member. I told her others had taken notice. Problem is is that at that point it's more of a "he said she said" type thing, and Jules doesn't have much to go on if action does in fact need to be taken. So......((((HUG)))) ??????? boB

See, why does it take having you tell them that instead of me being able to? Makes zero sense to me. I am just at a loss right now.

We help nurse the really sick ones to health. Well, when a kitten is 'supposed' to die several nights and you nurse it back to health - well, we could never give them away. So we don't take them in much anymore, I can't afford it.

D

Yep, that's what happened here. Damn them for being so cute and innocent!

Jules, if you suspected that your next-door neighbor was stealing your paper every morning, would you go to the police without evidence?

And if you would, do you think most people would, or do you think they would just whine to their friends?

It's just an analogy. I'm not saying anyone is whining. What I'm saying is oftentimes, no matter how nice the authority is.. people are afraid of it. Been there, done that. I know how hard it is.. But you gotta know.. You aint doing anything wrong. You are very nice and always have been. Nobody is afraid of YOU. Just the position.

Hmm, I've got some juice here you might like. Lemme try it first and then I'll send it out to you. It's a buttered popcorn flavor. Just PM me your address.

LoL actually, I've already had some, and it was even Msts! Can't say I am a fan though.. it's a bit too artificial for me.. again, gotta be the real thing, not microwave or air popped.. this is why I won't be a size 0., that is, until, they come up with the popcorn diet! :pop:

I knew I liked you: cats: minnie mouse, tinker bell, jasmine, briar rose, jiminy cricket, prince, belle, and cinderella. Dog: Mickey Mouse. ;)

I am a bit of a Disney fan.. I want to sing for Disney when I grow up! (I won't tell you that I am almost middle aged, either lol) Dopey, Hmm.. might be a good name.. but then I will feel compelled to name all the other ones after the other six.. the two we have now are my kids, they named them Camilla (Cammie) and Cookie. They weren't a fan of my Disney names, I guess..

I guess when I figure out which sex (shooting for a female) and it's appearance, it may just come to me.. who knows! I will find out tomorrow afternoon lol

Jules...again, I think you take something personal that you shouldn;t. I think people think they have your best interest at heart bt NOT coming to you. I don;t think that anyone here is out to dodge you in any way. Welcome to chit chat BTW! Sit down and be one of "us" for a bit.......Jim's rather amusing! boB
