I hate living in an apartment! I just got notice that management will be doing apartment inspections tomorrow and Firday. I detest having people I don't know walking through my home looking at my stuff :(

I don't live in like, an apartment complex. But I live in a very old Victorian home that's been sectioned off. It is three stories, so each tier is an apartment (we're in the middle :p ). We don't get inspections, in fact if there's something wrong we have to nag the landlord for months..

Once, our heater broke in februrary (we use steam heat, and the water heater went kaplooey) Hot showers still worked.. I assume they are on different heaters. But anyway, in the middle of february here we are, with a 6 month old baby, no heat. For THREE WEEKS. We were VERY close to suing.

And then they started to try and sell the house (They never, ever will. It's in an awful neighborhood, it looks terrible from the outside, and the inside needs more work than a drunk homeless .......) But still, people were interested... So not only did we have to let them in our home, I would have to give random strangers tours, of each bedroom, both bathrooms, and all the closets.

We try to be neat people, but everyone can get a little messy, I was really sick of having to have all my closets look pretty.

I hated that too. Especially when we would give our notice and they would be traipsing people through for the next month.

Oh wow Sallana that is terrible! Especially with a baby! Shame on them!

They seem to do inspections here every 3 or 4 months for various reasons, it is getting old! I love the community and my home but am considering alternatives. It is very uncomfortable for me! They say I dont have to be home but the only thing worse than having someone walk through my home while I am here is having someone come through when I am not!

I agree totally with that. Not that I am hiding anything ( well nothing I can't lock in a box) but its just creepy having people waling through my house when Im not there.

I remember giving a tour to this family who brought their two sons. One son was about 4 the other was 6ish. My son was maybe a year and a half. The younger of their sons ran right up to mine, and bopped him on the head with the sippy cup he had in his hand. The mother, simply glanced over when she heard my son crying and then glanced away.

It was more that satisfactory when I said "Okay, you people need to get out of my home before I arm my son with a hammer."
