I think my generation is just full of lazy .........had one guy at work that was a pastor part time, a cable guy full time. BUt he purposely did a bad job for montsh to get fired, so he can ride unemployment, and continue getting state funds because he was also a foster parent I guess. He couldnt quite because hed lose it all. Soo, he just peeved everyone off for months and risked all of our jobs until bossman finally fired him like he wanted...I kind of see his point, but x box until 9 am when paperwork is due by 8...thats just wrong. Then there are those that just don't care period, or wont catch a clue...major turn around in my field as well.

We had a guy who wanted to go on vacation for 2 weeks in August, one of landscapings busiest times. We told him at the beginning March-Nov. He went anyways, showed up three weeks later and said his Grandma said he could go.

I would've told him that I guess his Grandma can foot his bills then because he wasn't getting another dime from you.

That being said, I got really, really aggravated with on of my husband's prior employers. Before he started the job (in March), he explained that we were getting married in October and he'd be gone for a week. They said that'd be fine but that it'd be unpaid which we completely expected since this was just a part time position.

So, we go about getting everything ready. He reminds them 2 months out that he's going to be gone. They say it's fine. Reminds them at one month out and they say it's still fine. Two weeks out they tell him it's no longer fine. (Mind you, there was nothing going on that wasn't going on 2 months out.) If he chooses to be gone for that week, then he won't have a job when he returns.

Seriously?! We would've eaten the cost of that honeymoon if we wouldn't cancelled. And for a part-time job? I don't think so. Come to find out a couple of months later that they're laying a ton of folks off. That's when we found out that several people were let go because they weren't able to work within those last two months. One guy's mother passed away and he was let go because he attended her funeral.

Im thinking mandatory military will crack a whip on the future workforce, and maybe teach ppl some work ethic. Heck, it might improve the moral sector as well. Combat will tend to make someone REAL religious...And uncle sam turned me away because i had surgery on a foot as a kid. Im glad though..a month later my bro crossed the border in Iraq and got the war kickin. Still feel like I missed an opportunity in all that though. I wanted some nice survival training.
