They did away with commonlaw marriage here some time ago, but it used to be 4 years. Tony and I have been together 5 1/2 but I don't know that we'll ever afford a wedding.

You're not far away come to Ohio and I'll marry ya for free:)
Small weddings are nice I don't really like doing big weddings, to much stress, I think it's kinda crazy to spend that much money, the wedding should be about two people loving each other. Small and sweet.

Hogwart, there is hope. That youngest little fella up there ^^^ did the same thing. He got out of high school and sat on his booty playing video games for a year. I finally starved him out of the house. No joke! They are funny little creatures. If you leave no food in the house, they tend to start scavenging for it. Low and behold, before I knew it, he was out getting himself a job. And is attending college to be a pharmacist. Sometimes tough love is the only thing that works. I get to have food back in the house now.

awwww that's a drag ..... mr. Hog....Good Luck with that ,I don't know what is up? w/this last generation ....too many games I think,

....my darling 19 yr old just got thru her 1st year of college & is now preg.& due in dec ....her "whatever he is" has been out of school 2 years & still just plays video games ...actually he got a job 2 weeks ago (his 1st) but I am not to hope full . I'm trying tho!!!! She will just have to do it all .

& so my 16 yr old is on his 'puter 24/7, still makes great grades(jr in HS) ,so I have him enrolled in vo-tec for half a day this year & hopefully next year....he is taking 3d game design ! I talked him into starting early instead of taking silly electives in HS ....since he insists on living on the damn thing ,he might as well learn how to make a living there !!!

That was going to be my answer - LOL

today my kids decided to 'take off' and not work- they didnt pick the peas, they didnt actually work at the hog pens (they just watered them and threw them some dry food), they didnt pick up after themselves. So, I didnt cook them supper- I cooked it for DH and myself. but when they asked where theirs was- I told them, "sorry, you were supposed to pick peas for me to cook and put up today- You didnt. there is nothing to eat"

they asked me to wake them at 5:00 so they could feed earlier and get to the pea field at daylight.

*disclaimer* they are not starving, they have eaten today- matter of fact, they didnt even 'realize' they hadnt ate till after 8:30. when they were supposed to be going to bed.

The wife and I just celebrated our 10-year anniversary, and she's still bugging me for that piece of paper. When she mentioned something three or four months ago about getting married, Rhianna overheard her and walked into the room announcing "You all are already married." When we both said "No, baby, we're not" she cocked her head and said "you have to be married." I explained to her that we were married in the sense of the moral and emotional commitment, but that "marriage" is also a legal term that requires that we both sign a piece of paper and that we didn't have that piece of paper.

That's when she started screaming "You have to be married or I don't ezzist! If you're not married I don't ezzist! I WANNA EZZIST! I WANNA BEEEEEE REEEEEEEEEAAAAAAAALLLLL!"

Well I'm sure it will all work out. I just know that when I was his age I was already married, had my own apt, hes was a year old, and I had to work 3 jobs to pay for it all, because I knew that you do what it takes to make your own way in this world.
So when I sit back and see the lack of motivation and apathy in my son it makes me feel like I've failed somehow. Then I look at most of the other 18 year olds out there and they are the same way. Most all of them expect everything just to be handed to them. :(
